Great venue, very calm and peaceful hotel. Room service was amazing. Every night they put chocolate and tomorrows weather, very thoughtful. Our room was at the top floor with its on terrace. Maybe the size and the ceiling may annoy some people but we were okay. Breakfast was okay nothing special.

The staff were kind and helpful. The room delightful and quiet, 3rd floor then up a short staircase. The spa was very enjoyable albeit on the small side. The whole town of Barr was welcoming and friendly. Good bakery and great Italian restaurant for dinner. This is a hidden gem!

I called the hotel before booking asking if they have a quiet room. They assured me they do. Unfortunately, that was not the case as all walls are extremely thin and you can hear all king of noise from all directions. The most absurd noise was the one from upstairs - you hear people walking and it’s like the whole building is shaking. Even though they moved us to other room, we could still hear the noise. After couple of hours of complaining, they said that they cannot help us and offer us to leave (Friday night at 11pm). The building itself is nice but it takes a lot more to be a 5 star hotel. If noise bothers you, better stay away. Parking is very far!

All in all, not really good enough and Accor need to get a bit of a grip. Although the staff tried hard, there simply weren't enough of them. That meant there was no sense of life in any of the downstairs areas and a 4 course dinner took nearly 2 1/2 hours. This is a supposedly top hotel but offers only two menu choices (and then combines them in a set menu which is the only logical option price wise) which is woeful - whilst the food itself was decent, the length of time it took and lack of choice means you could not eat there twice. The room we had was small for two people and although converting an old building imposes constraints on design, it was badly laid out making the occasional concussion near inevitable and eliminating all privacy in the bathroom. Parking off site at E25 per night is scandalous. There is free parking 10 metres away which whilst not covered / locked, seemed perfectly safe.

While the hotel itself is really nice and the staff was helpfull there was a major issue o a closed restaurant during both evenings (monday and tuesday) as there is no notice of this on the hotel web pages. While this was solved with help from the front desk and outsourced there is even bigger issue with lack of selection in the hotel bar. While the hotel is calling it a wine bar with description of "Relax for a moment in our Wine Bar, bathed in light from the glass roof. Enjoy subtle flavors from a selection of prized local, organic wines, or sample the region's finest or biodynamic wines." the actual offer is sparkling, white, rose and red. No winemaker no vintage nothing. When ask abou the hundreds of bottles on display around the reply was that this is part of restaurant which is closed and that they can not a will not sell them. For asking price more than 300 Eur/night in the so called five star hotel in the centre of wine centre of Alsace this just wont do and the advertised and paid for service was not provided.

We stayed at the 5 Terres and had dinner at La Table du 5. Upon arrival, we were upgraded to a room with terrace and greeted with a bottle of wine -and treats for our dog-. We were treated extremely well by the staff. We also included breakfast, which is very complete and has a good quality overall. The spa is also very comfortable and doesn't feel crowded even at peak hours. I would also recommend dining at La Table du 5. Menu may feel a bit too short in terms of options (perhaps completing appetizer section, with charcuterie or rillettes or some Alsatian specialties to share, would improve this point) and service was a bit slow that night (one of the waiters was a trainee, to be fair). But the experience was overall pleasant and the wine selection, with plenty of natural wine options, was amazing. Would definitely stay again.

The location and the old town are very beautiful. An ok access to the hotel and a stand alone parking lot at a 150 m walking distance. Access to parking could be better facilitated as guests struggle with opening the parking doors with codes; one might need to carry their luggage from the parking to the hotel. The room was very comfortable and spacious, with a very nice bathroom and comfortable beds. The furniture in the room was a bit clunky, and there were some electricity issues that affected TV screen and lighting. The downstairs spa space is small, but comfortable and clean, with a sauna, a hamam, and a swimming pool with one massage stand. It’s perfect when there’s no more than 3-4 people in the spa. The dinner was nice but some dishes were a little heavy and the wine selection was disappointing. Very good starters, main course felt overcooked and salty. Breakfast, which is paid additionally, is a traditional French petit dejeuner, with mostly sweet pastry and a plate of French cheese. No fresh vegetables are served which is a minus for international guests. The best part of the experience is the staff: very friendly and helpful, gracious and polite. Overall, a good experience but slightly overpriced considering minor weakness that could be easily corrected.

The hotel exterior is a typical Alsace ginger bread construction. The interior beautifully combines this old-world charm with a fresh modern interior. The spa & pool in the cellar are first class. The masseur Elodie was amazing. ||The hotel restaurant was closed on our first night, we found a nice pizza restaurant but most of the town of Barr was closed. We ate in the hotel restaurant the following night. We experienced very poor service. 40 minutes before we had wine to our table. Two hours between ordering our food and getting our main course. There were other issues in terms of lack of professionalism amongst staff. Two of the three dishes I was served were unacceptable. I made the reception staff aware I was unwilling to pay for these dishes, and they removed them from the bill. ||The breakfast was wonderful. The staff, during breakfast, the cleaner and reception staff were all friendly and professional.
