A bedside table with a lamp or a hook to hang up your towel would have been the super plus, but the staff was always really friendly and helpful, the kitchen was always clean, the house itself has a charming character and the general atmosphere there was welcoming and friendly. Closely located to Chapel Street -yay, walking distance, even in sight from my cute little balcony- meant that it took me a night or two to get used to roaring car engines, squealing tyres and simply people partying through the night. So bring your earplugs or ask for a room at the back- and you can have a great time for a reasonable price!

I am so disappointed and disgusted in this hostel. My room that I stayed in was like a sauna with no air conditioning the fan in my room blow out hot air. Avoid at all cost. I would rather stay on the streets PS the bed was the comfort.

The guy who managed this hostel (Mr. Tim) is so rude to me. I am planning to move in a private bedroom apartment and he cancelled it. After I sent all the requirements that are needed for the paper works lease he just clearly stated that it is a “NO”. I asked questions about the rooms which are normal to be asked for. But for some reason, he just started to say things that I didn’t say and rejected my application. I tried to call and speak nicely but he became aggressive with the phone call and started to shout. This is so rude. I hope the owner of this hostel will know about this so next time, for the other people, traveler's, or stay ins they won’t experience the same thing that I’ve experienced.

Great location, atmosphere and people . Good for working travelers . Clean , large kitchen. ||Would definitely recommend if you’re sick of staying in huge non personal hostels in the CBD. More like a house than a hostel, people are surprisingly respectful of each other. ||Receiption is really helpful and friendly . ||Close to restaurants , bars, st kilda beach and short 15 minute train to CBD

If you want to appreciate any other hostel you may stay at during your time in Australia, I’d recommend doing one night here. Extremely weird vibe going on in this hostel, it’s pretty dirty and smells in the rooms. People like to have the lights off and curtains drawn all day long and have no consideration for others. The bloke at reception was cool though and very helpful. Bathrooms were actually clean and okay. Wouldn’t stay here again. When we checked out my|Girlfriend removed her sheets to reveal massive blood stains on the mattress also which is always a Brucey bonus. 🤙

There are good aspects about this place but a couple of things let it down. ||I stayed in a 4 bed dorm which was really hot and stuffy and the room only had a small pedestal fan so if you’re on the top bunk you don’t get to feel any of the air. Also there was a strong smell from bins out in the street came into the room through the window. ||The backpackers was kept clean by staff but was let down by guests not keeping it tidy, particularly in the rooms. ||The building has an interesting layout and there are bathrooms and toilets on different levels and around corners, this worked out great as there always seemed to be one free when I needed it. There is onsite laundry facilities which is handy, and a big kitchen area which was well equipped. ||I originally booked for 3 nights but I cancelled after the first night as I couldn’t handle the heat in the room and lack of fresh air. The guy at reception, Aaron, was very understanding and friendly. He gave me a refund for the balance which was great. ||I would stay again but probably in cooler weather.

Great hostel!||Clean, fun and the best location!||Just off chapel street with great cafes, bars and shops! Good place to meet people, but usually quite during the week so perfect for if you’re working and want to stay long term. Good kitchen, laundry and living room! Would definitely recommend!
