This little dive bar, little by my account since I am not from here. It's a local fave and you can tell when you come in. If you want a great martini, you really should stop by and have one. I am sure the locals are like there is a 100 other places to get a better one. They have a live band playing most nights, it's Irish dive-y, chill and laid back. Something about this place just smells and says hey you're home and belong here. If you're the bro club person fuck off and go somewhere else. If you want a place that makes you have a good time and chill, come on in. Damn I should be a sales person for this place. Haha. I'll keep coming back every trip I have to NYC!

5 stars because the staff and experience was AMAZING!!! Sat at the bar and ordered two Reuben's to-go. Ordered two Old Fashioned drinks while we waited. The drinks were EXCELLENT! Strong & Good!!! And the bartenders were super cool. The food came out in 5 mins. But I was so sad because I wasn't ready for the conversation to end with the bartenders. The Reuben's were good. If you're from Detroit, then you're not going to like this Reuben. It's cut thin and the meat is a little dry and hard. But, it has flavor. And was spruced up when I added the hot mustard and slaw to the sandwich. If you don't like slaw and hot mustard and just want a Reuben how it comes, this isn't the place for you. The fries were pretty good and crunchy. Highly recommend if you're in the area and need a good bar!

Always a great spot to end the day. Friendly staff, reasonable drinks, live music and great food. Avoid the tourist traps and support a local business!

Whenever even made it in! Friends and I were scouring HK for the perfect local to have a 30yr reunion from our opening night on Broadway of the 95 revival of HELLO, DOLLY! starring the legendary Carol Channing! Was thrilled to hear we landed on Scallywag's. When stopping in prior to our event, to get details, we were met with a very unenthusiastic employee and the details were basically "rules"we were to abide by, not meandering through the restaurant was highlight! Needless to say we took our substantial business to the Celtic Playwright Tavern on 8th between W45&W46. 100% better. Very accommodating. Lovely staff and service! Especially given we were a large group and it had been so last minute no thanks to the scallywags at Scallywshgs! AND The Celtic is currently surrounded by construction for "The Torch" and still was an incredible evening!

Came to this Irish pub since it was near my hotel and had a beer while I waited for my to go order. The server and I had a miscommunication but Celeste the owner I believe, was able to resolve the issue with so much love and grace! As for the food... the reviews on the chicken pot pie were not lying! WOW! The best I've ever had. 10/10. Celeste was amazing and so was the food. Anytime I come to New York I will be stopping by.

We returned - for the delightful service & excellent food! My pot pie was as good as I remembered. Husband had the corned beef, fries and slaw again. The sandwich wasn't as big as the remembered, and even though a tad drier, it was as good as the crispy fries and just right creamy slaw. We sat at a high top, which was perfect for people watching. There is an area in the back with tables for small and large groups. We love the Irish vibes, and especially our dark haired Irish wait staff (Catherine?). Perfect!

Dying for a good pint of Guiness and found Scallywag's. Jackpot!! Great pint turned into pintS!! Bartender lady was extremely funny, friendly and just great. Loved the old school irish pub feel too. Cannot wait to be back. Was informed that the chicken pot pie and shepherds pie are delicious so we are looking forward to trying them

Can't say enough good about this place. We're visiting NYC from Oregon. The food was OUTSTANDING and Owen was the perfect server! Generous portions seasoned perfectly! Fun beer list. Love this place!

I'm so glad I stumbled across this place. I'm from Ireland and I'm always happy when I find a genuine Irish pub. This is the real deal; it's wrong and operated by a Dublin man and I'm at several other Irish people who work there the pub has a great feel and ambience And the drinks and food were good quality and fairly priced. Service was very efficient and friendly. Now I know what my first stop will be next time I'm in NYC. Recommended.

Steady as they come! Casual Irish pub with fun atmosphere and excellent menu for after work, especially after a Tradeshow at the Javits Center. Service with a smile (and a snide remark) to welcome you in.

Came to Scallywags last night for the Shepard's Pie. It was the best ever Shell Pie! Cathy is a fantastic bar tender who pours the perfect Guinness. Back again tonight, this time for the bangers and mash. Another outstanding meal and perfect Guinness pour. Scallywags does not disappoint. A wonderful neighborhood pub. Already looking forward to my next trip to New York.

This was a great bar with wonderful customer service. The Sheppard's pie was delicious., if you're in the area definitely stop in.

This is my spot! When you're in the mood for a Irish pub close to Penn Station and Port Authority, this is your place! We went on a Friday night when they have live music. We had a few snacks as well (mozzarella sticks and fries) which hit the spot late night. It's a classic Irish pub with Guinness and Jameson of course! Staff are friendly and even gave us a free shot! Def recommend checking out this spot especially on a Friday night!

Visiting NYC at Christmas time means navigating big crowds and long lines! The best places to eat, however, are just a couple blocks over from the crowded tourist traps. Yesterday my family and I had lunch at Scallywag's. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the bartender. The decor was warm and lovely- very festive. A hostess/server welcomed us and took us to our table. We ordered nachos and wings as apps. I will forever compare every other restaurant's wings to theirs! I love that they still give you carrots along with the celery (when and why did restaurants stop doing this???). They were the perfect amount of crispy and saucey. And the nachos were delicious, too. We then ordered a bunch of Shepard's pies and Caesar salads. Everything was wonderful. But the best part was our server! She was a tiny woman with the cutest accent and big personality. When we left, our server, another server, and the bartender all said goodbye- not in the scripted corporate regurgitation of goodbyes, (like the trendy and super obnoxious "welcome in!"), but just in a sincere "hey- we're really glad you stopped by" kinda way. Great food, awesome staff, and a lovely break from the Christmas crowds.

Came by for some quick drinks, would definitely return for the service alone. Our server was cracking us up with her quick witted responses, and very attentive. Pub was clean and just a great spot for a no frills, good drinks, and good vibes.

First day in New York City and we found this pub and decided to try it out! The interior is beautifully decorated and our waiter was so sweet and on top of things. We ordered the appetizer sampler and everything was absolutely delicious. One of our group members ordered the chicken pot pie as his main course and described it as the most delicious thing he had ever eaten. I would recommend checking this place out if you're vacationing in NYC or if you live there!

This is a legit pub. Come here if you want the lib feel. I loved it. Walked in with some friends and sat at the bar. There was live music playing which was great. Bartender was super friendly. Quick with the drinks and short on talk. Straight pub feel. I enjoyed it a lot. Also, you could tell that locals come here. I just felt it. It was one of the few bars that was open after midnight. No issues here. Had a great time. Heavy pours. Entertaining space.

AMAZING PUB. We were in town for a vacation. Heard that LA Chargers fans gather her for games and decided to join in. The bartender, Roe, was adorable. Food was incredible, drinks well poured and ambiance fabulous!!!

We picked this place since it was convenient & they offered happy hour specials on the weekend. HH specials were not much it's for their Beer & Margaritas no flavors , except regular & apple I mean the regular Margarita was not bad , apple ok , Beers were decent. We had a group of 6 so after a few drinks we got some food the Appetizer platter & Nachos. Good Chicken wings & chicken tenders , good Mozzarella sticks , decent Onion rings & Potato wedges. Good Nachos these food were prefect for our table to share. Big place with plenty seating , bar area upfront service was good & prices were not bad we hand an enjoyable time.

I have been coming to Scallywags for years both for drinks and grub. It really is a proper Irish bar with the bartenders sporting their UK tongues and cheeky personalities . In addition to a friendly , down to earth vibe , you will find a genuine crowd and zero attitude ( it does not seem like it's in NY). They even have live music ! What's underrated is the food - I have had several items like the burger , but today had the chicken Caesar which was damn good ! Highly recommend for a taste of Ireland as well as a good beer !

Nice people, run by folks from Ireland. Seems to be a place that has a regular following. Observed several of the people coming in that the bartender(s) knew by name. Classic Irish pub. Decent pricing for a pint on tap. Cathy the bartender was funny, had a good sense of humor. We had the mozzarella sticks and that was regular. Not terrible not fantastic. However the barvarian pretzels were EXCELLENT. It came with 2 different types of mustard. One spicy and one sweet like a honey mustard. It's too bad St Paddy's is on a Sunday this year and I have to work otherwise I'd come here. I'll bet it would be a blast. I'll be back!

I was not expecting much after the day I'd had but this place was great for evening drinks and the BURGER was FANTASTIC. Was not expecting that great of food from a random bar but I got something way better than I'd hoped. even after taking the burger and fries to go every single bite was great and I would definitely be back if I'm in the area again.

The BEST chicken pot pie ever! I've had many and this one was far superior to any other out there. The sauce was creamy but not overpowering. The pastry was light and fluffy. Don't miss this amazing dish.

We've been hanging out here since 10:00ish and it's now 1:15. Great atmosphere. Live music and everyone is singing along and dancing. Great service and a free drink or two. I don't know if it's this much fun every night but it sure was tonight.

The food was very bland even for pub food. This was our first meal in NYC in Hells Kitchen. Only thing I enjoyed was the beer. The restaurant itself was very dark and dingy even for the back room dining. Service was decent thought and she was very attentive to water and drink refills. Sad to say with so many options around this may have been a one and done.

Great pub! I went for the bangers and mashed which came with excellent baked beans. The mashed was creamy and delicious, though the bangers, while tasty were a bit skinny for my appetite. Had a pint of Scalliwag's excellent Amber too, which was perfect! Service was great. Very friendly and welcoming. This one definitely stays on my NYC list!

Great location and interior, friendly service. I came here the other day at around 3pm to see the match between England and Netherlands and the place was packed. Still my Guinness arrived pretty quickly . I definitely recommend this place!

We have never visited you Newark before and stumbled upon this wonderful place by accident. The food was magnificent. The Irish meatloaf was to die for. Corned beef was off the hook as well. We visited Scallywag's on Sunday. Mike behind the bar was an Irish delight! We both really liked him. We had a Caesar salad and split the fish and chips. I had wine - Malbec (fine for a Pub) and husband had beer. We had such a great time laughing with Mike. I definitely encourage you to stop in for a libation and food!

Brilliant Irish food and atmosphere, close to Penn Station and Port Authority. You'll want to try the smoked salmon with a pint, the lads sure will take good care of you!

Scallywags is my go to spot in Manhattan. It's in Hells Kitchen and near my hotel on 37th. Both Catherine's and Ro will take good care of you. I personally love the wings and the meatloaf is great. Happy hour from 4 to 7 daily.

Irish pub and place to eat near our hotel in manhattan by Times Square. Cool atmosphere. Our waitress was actually Irish so that was cool and authentic. We got a free shot of fireball for our yelp check in. I got the chicken quesadilla. It was solid. My buddy got a few ipa's that he seemed to enjoy. Cool little Irish place.

Great find. Cozy authentic Irish Pub . Great bartender & server. We felt welcome as soon as we stepped in. Wish we were staying in NYC longer. It would be nice if the music started earlier than 10pm.

What a lovely experience! My mother and I went here one night on our trip to NYC because it was located near our hotel, and I'm so glad we did The music was great, the food was very good (we had the Shepards pie and mac n cheese), and the waitress Ro was SO kind! We would definitely come back!

Outstanding!!! Was so lucky to have found this gem on our visit to NYC this week. Great atmosphere and friendly patrons. They advertise live music nightly and they performers have not disappointed. Lauren and Luis were friendly and professional on each of our visits here.

I really enjoy this place at the Irish pub that was near my hotel in Manhattan and our waitress was Irish so that was cool he got a free shot of fireball for checking in on yelp so that was pretty awesome I got a few IPAs and a burger and I enjoyed it cooler Irish place for sure
