Great local food done right, on the nice street of Fredericton opposite Officers Square. Both inside and outside seating with very polite service. They have many gluten free options including buns and bread. The muscles were excellent, and so was the buratta for starters. The stilton burger was very tasty but ask for the patty to be done under medium, because they tend to over cook it. We booked in advance which was a great idea because when we left there was a line to wait.

Fabulous summer evening on the rear deck. 🔥 Excellent wait staff, delicious pasta dishes and smiling full capacity tables. Did we mention the full moon? A nice after-dinner walk across the street to smell the 💐 flowers at Officers Square and a romantic moment holding hands among the happy lovers watching the moon show! 540 Kitchen is a Winner! So close to the heartbeat of Fredericton. Doesn't get any better, Luigi! 🤭😉🌹 Sorry you missed it!! 🍝

Went for Dinner at 7pm on a Friday Night. I had booked a reservation which was good because it was quite busy and we saw a few groups leave due to wait. Definitely get a reservation if group is over 2 people. Food was very good. The Crab Cakes were full of flavour and the sauce was perfect. The Escargot was done perfectly though as always there is never enough bread. We also had the seafood pappardelle. It was excellent. The sauce was bright and vibrant, the seafood was done well. Only complaint is only 2 scallops but they tasted great none the less. Service: It was good for most part. It was busy but the server never filled out wine glasses, and also after our appetizers asked if we wanted dessert or coffee, when we said we would decide after the pasta she said "right pasta it's just being finished". We waited another 20-30min for it. Pretty sure she forgot to enter it. When it arrived she said the kitchen was backed up but others had gotten their food before us whom sat after. We aren't to upset since it was nice to not be rushed at a restaurant. The patio was nice to sit at, had a nice view of main park where they do the changing of the guard. That night it was the car show so we just people watched.

I come here anytime I'm in Fredericton! I absolutely love the atmosphere of the downtown location, and the lighthouse. The food downtown is amazing and sitting on the back patio is fun. Their drink menu is awesome. I've always had wonderful and friendly service and those chefs are talented in their craft!

What a delicious meal at 540 Kitchen & Bar in Fredericton! I had the fish and chips, and it was absolutely perfect — crispy on the outside, flaky and tender inside. The dish came with a beautifully grilled lemon, fresh coleslaw, and golden fries. Paired with a cold IPA beer, it made for the perfect lunch. The service was excellent, the atmosphere welcoming, and everything was spotless. A clean, modern space with top-tier hospitality. If you’re looking for great food, craft beer, and friendly service in Fredericton, I highly recommend stopping by 540 Kitchen & Bar. I’ll definitely be back!

Stopped in for takeout on our way back to Saint John, placed an order ahead of time to let them know when we would be in. After about 5-10 minutes of waiting our food was ready. Staff was pleasant and quite easy going. Unfortunately the food wasn’t fantastic, fries tasted old and were lukewarm. And my girlfriend’s steak was quite overcooked compared to the rare we had asked for. I could understand if we were behind our scheduled time but for us to have to wait and extra 10min and the food to still not be fresh was disappointing. Wouldn’t recommend this spot

On Friday, my friends and I had an absolutely unreal experience at 540 Kitchen & Bar in Fredericton, NB. First off, if you're going, do NOT miss the patio out back. It’s tucked away behind the building and you get to it through this little alley. It kind of feels like you're discovering a hidden gem. Super chill vibe, cozy but not cramped. Now, onto the food. There was a bit of a wait, yeah, but honestly? Worth every second. And they handled food allergies with real care, which is rare and refreshing. The kitchen even used a completely separate apparatus to cook the ribs to make sure there was no cross-contamination, massive respect for that. But the ribs… the ribs were the holy grail. I’m not exaggerating when I say they were some of the best things I’ve ever tasted in my life. The meat slid off the bone in this almost magical way, like it wanted to be eaten. Crispy on the edges, insanely flavorful, rich, savory, and perfectly seasoned. Just absolutely perfect ribs. I'm still thinking about them (And probably will be for a long time). The burger? Solid. Nothing wrong with it at all, but next to those ribs, it’s hard to compete. Fries were crispy and golden, and the aioli sauce they came with was top-tier: creamy, garlicky, and addictive. All in all, 540 Kitchen & Bar delivers in a big way. If you’re in Fredericton and even remotely into good food, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. Get the ribs. You’ll understand.

Larger than it looks from the outside with a rustic feel, moody lighting and music loud enough to have privacy but not overwhelming. Menu is small but mighty, average prices and a little something for everyone. Relaxed service with a vampire barista feel. Drinks are well balanced and priced averagely. Patrons seem affluent and well mannered. Good for a date ❤️ Bad if you want somewhere quiet. You can take your parents if they’re cool. Would recommend. *Had cool wall art 🖼️

Food was great. Bourbon old fashioned was a bit pricey (probably due to scarcity), but I should know better than ordering bourbon in Canada right now.

Is there something higher than a 5? If not, for somewhere like this there should be! Cute little place, great staff and the food was OMG! The Lamb Shank was falling off the bone and you literally wanted to take a bath in the mushroom sauce... we would have licked the plate but figured that's frowned upon lol

My wife and I dropped in for dinner @6:00 without a reservation. There were only 2 or 3 tables occupied, many more sitting empty. I understand that they have reservations but feel they could have squeezed us in without disrupting their upcoming reservations. Most restaurants reserve a few tables for walk-ins. Disappointed.

Wow wow wow. If I could fill up the reviews with wow I would. Had the lamb shank and it was one of the best meals I have ever had, and that's a lot of meals. Together with the Lizzy Borden Red ale it was an epic meal. Thanks 540

Seriously FANTASTIC food! These chefs and kitchen staff are doing magic back there, I swear. This was the first official dinner out I've had since the COVID pandemic started - meaning my first dinner out in a year and a half!! To say that my expectations were high is an understatement - I mean, imagine going out for dinner again after so much lockdown misery (folks, I came here from Ottawa). Let me repeat for emphasis: my expectations were very high. Aaaand, I was not disappointed! In fact, maybe this was the best place I could have possibly gone for my reintroduction into foodie society. We sat on the front patio, because I felt safer outdoors, and it was entirely pleasant. Fredericton is not inundated with smokers on the sidewalks like larger cities are, so no problems there. Traffic is low key on Wednesday evenings, which is when we went. We did make a reservation, though, and it's good that we did because it filled up pretty quickly at dinner hour. The tables were well spaced apart and some had full plastic curtain separation, so they take their restrictions seriously. I was pleased. For appies, we had shaved beef (delish) and cauliflower tacos (so good). For my main, I had the duck leg, which was pure bliss with every bite. The beans it came with could have been a bit more thoroughly done, but I was more obsessed with the meat than anything else on the plate. If you like crispy skin and salty meat, this is for you. My partner had the tender loin steak, which was done to perfection, and my son had the burger and fries, which was full on gourmet goodness. Also, they had no qualms about turning every cocktail I wanted into a virgin (no booze for me since COVID mowed me down over a year ago). Pretty good, standard selection of local beer on tap to meet every need. The service was quite wonderful. The meal took just slightly longer than usual to arrive so our appies were offered free! We were just glad to be out, so that wasn't necessary but we really appreciated it nonetheless. We'll be back for sure!

Just had the most amazing dinner. I highly recommend getting reservations especially when there is a large convention in town. I started with the feature summer salad that had fiddleheads, asparagus and a poached egg. The egg was not too runny and flavored perfectly with the lightly blanched fiddleheads and asparagus. I paired with a Hammond's Radler which unfortunately was a bit more on the hoppy tasting side than fruity. I think i would have gone with a Pino Grigio or Riesling if I had a do over. For my main I had their 13 oz rib eye which was cooked to perfection. It was juicy and pink in the middle. The steak was served with rooted vegetables and roasted potatoes. The jus served with the steak was perfect not too creamy and reduced to add a bit of taste and flavour to the steak. I highly recommend coming here for lunch or dinner. They have a good selection of local beers on tap, it is clean and the atmosphere is great.

Attentive and very friendly service, classy yet casual ambiance, but 3/5 because of the less-than-stellar food. Creative dishes and fusion spins on their meats and seafood, such as the kimchi baos and escargots with cheese, but perhaps my expectations were too high for this gastropub. My squash (vegetarian) risotto was very mediocre, bland and watery. The beef steak was also disappointing - dry and the fries on the side would have been better if replaced with something more wholesome. On the other hand, the haddock was tender and just melt-in-your-mouth kind of quality. The Mac and cheese was also okay, but too much salt. Of all the food we had tonight I'd recommend the steamed baos and escargot to start and the haddock as a main. The pork belly also looked interesting. There were quite a few vegetarian options and even gluten free! Overall, not bad, but expected better.

I've had lunch here 3 times over the past few months. each time the menu has changed with always interesting fare. The salads seem to change depending on what is in season and is tasty. This is food that is made by someone who cares. The Mushroom bean burger is reasonably moist. The 540 Burger works well. The beer list is small but well thought out. The cocktails are made by someone who knows what they're doing.

540 Kitchen & Bar has a great selection of beer, wine, and tasty treats.. Definitely a must-try if you're new to the neighborhood or just passing through town. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere has a really cool, trendy vibe. I usually come on the weekend with a few friends, but I could see 540 being a fun spot to go for happy hour drinks and apps to unwind after a long day at the office too! The Fried Chicken & Waffles is always a crowd pleaser, but you can't go wrong with the Mac & Cheese or Diner Burger either. On this particular visit, I tried the Scallop & Crispy Pork Belly. Despite the pork being a bit over-done, the scallops and the flavour profile of the dish were on point. It was also my first time having spaetzle and I was pleasantly surprised by how fluffy, yet crispy it was. Is it pasta, is it savoury rice krispies, and how do they get so much flavour into those cute little puffs?! By the end of the meal, I couldn't complain about the pork being dry because I just wanted more of everything. Major YUM points! P.S. I'll be back soon to try the Chorizo Tacos ;)

Went there for dinner. We ordered pork belly and kimchi buns as an apetizer. A great starter. I decided to try their version of a steak that came sliced, and fries. Unfortunately, since they waited to make both our meals at the same time the steak came a bit cold. Told the waitress about it, she took it back and after a few minutes brought pretty much the same plate I gave her. At this point I was way too hungry to bother any further and just ate it. Even if it wasn't hot it was soft, tender, and tasted pretty good. The fries and veggies were amazing. The other meal we got was duck pasta. The pulled duck was just unbelievable. Service wasn't anything spectacular. I've been to other places where they could have handled the cold stake situation better. That alone should be enough to take 2 stars off, but can't say anything bad about the food so 4 stars it is!

I brought my family and some out of town guests here after my sister's wedding! It was 16 people and they did a fantastic job accommodating a big group (which include several noisy children). I can't thank them enough for the amazing food and the incredible service.

First off...best kale salad ever! Not kidding, so tasty. Had a plate of fiddleheads and asparagus as well, and it was yummy, but pales in comparison to the flavours of the kale salad which had quinoa, almonds and cranberries.

I eat here often, Isaacs Way has a wonderful vegan/vegetarian selection and fabulous wine pairings! The ideal go to location! Cheers!

I would rather fish and chips from Deluxe 10/10 times! Extremely disappointed/over priced.

We had the Caesar salad and Jerk Chicken both were excellent. I love the presentation of the salad. The outdoor seating was really nice. A bonus, there was a country music festival going on that we could hear from out table. Check out the chandelier near the bar, a very clever idea!

The food was delicious, the atmosphere quite cozy and the service was great. I am looking forward to my next visit to try something else on the menu.

The first time I visited I was not that impressed -- the Veggie Burrito was NOT the best option. Last night I was able to try this place again and I discovered a more worthy dish -- something with MEAT!! Yep, I had the Rendang -- a curry beef over rice. Very tasty and succulent. My only complaint (missing one star) are portions. For $20 bucks I'd like to be just a little more sated. Warning -- the burger is about the size of two stacked sliders and fits in a metal mold barely three inches (3") across.

If you are stopping by Fredericton, this is a great restaurant! I specifically had the Haddock which is a fish dish and it was very well made. If I have another chance to stop by I would!

Maybe just went there on an off night, but, if you're going to survive in a hip, trendy location, as a restaurant, you really can't afford to have a bad day. I thought the food was just ok and unfortunately the service was sub par (at best).

Great place with very friendly servers. The Diner Burger was on point- nice soft bun, perfectly cooked burger. It's a nice tidy size, not leaving you feel overwhelmed at the end of the meal.

The special this evening was the Fish and Chips, it was awful! Definitely not worth the price.

Having eaten here many many times over the past couple years I must say today was a cut above. A regular haunt that is a go to, once in a while if you're lucky becomes tremendous! Absolutely the best steak in the City! An intimate restaurant with personal caring service, rock solid as they mature.

Cozy atmosphere. I ordered the Haddock and finished with the Chocolate dessert. Both were delicious!

One of the best if not the best meal I've had In a while I'm from Montreal and we know our restaurants well and our food as well! This place just hit the spot with its quality and service my wife had the halibut and I had the tenderloine we were both extremely impressed !!!!!!!

Surprised I'm the first review here. It was a while ago that I came here, so the memory has faded a bit - I don't think the lamb dish I had is on the menu anymore. Still, it was excellent and the NB microbrew selection on tap is great. My partner had a salmon dish that she thoroughly enjoyed. I've tried the kale salad and the chorizo tacos - both are really good. The menu changes here, so lots of reasons to go back again. Fredericton's downtown resto scene is pretty savage - many places come and go, so I hope 540 can make a go of it. Locals - if you like great food and beer, support this place!

The menu is always very well thought out, the drink selection is like nothing else in Fredericton, the service is very friendly. I've been many times and have always been more than satisfied.

Intimate dining with a great menu! We had the mussels which had more flavor than any other mussel dish I've had-it's a must! The macaroni and cheese (with pork) was delicious and appeared to be a popular dish; worth every calorie as were the sticky buns. The wine and beer lists had a little bit for all preferences! My coworker and I sat at the bar and found service to be very attentive and familiar. This is a great dining option if you're in Fredericton, highly recommend.

Good selection of local beer. The menu is consolidated but interesting. Burger is great and so are the healthier options. Service was pretty good on both occasions.

The staff especially Molly was great and the food was very well prepared. Steak & salmon were our choices along with the ribs to start. A bit noisy but worth it.

Was here for lunch and food was delicious. Many different options that all sounded good. Chose the pan-seared cod from the lunch menu and was very pleased. Service was personable, very friendly staff. I would definitely recommend a visit.
