I came here about a decade ago on a school trip to Paris and made it a must-visit for when I returned. This is a really special place. You can see some of the artist working, there are also some that will do commissions. Easy to follow artists you like through QR codes and no entry fee. But please do leave a donation - there is no other place like this in Paris ❤️

Google
Worth visiting, especially as it has free entrance. Cool experience to see artists working on paintings and other types of art. It is possible to buy some art pieces there, as well as get your portrait painted within several minutes. Each floor has unique exhibitions. The stairway is painted in beautiful colors, creates even more artisty atmosphere.

Google
If you want the polished, predictable museum experience, skip it. 59 Rivoli is the opposite, raw, chaotic, alive. Each floor is basically an open studio where artists actually work, paint, carve, experiment… and sometimes stare at you like you are the art. That’s the charm. The building feels like it’s vibrating with creativity: graffiti on the walls, installations in the stairwell, music drifting from somewhere you can’t locate. Some rooms are brilliant, some are trash, but that’s exactly the point, it’s honest. No curation, no filters. If you want a slice of real Parisian underground art, this is the place. Perfect for an hour of visual chaos and inspiration. Unique, messy, unforgettable.

This is a magical place!!! What a wonderful way for art lovers to meet a wide variety of artists in the very spaces where they create their art. Even the building itself is a work of (a variety of) art!! I found some artists that particularly interested me and now I can stay connected to them online. (No entry fee but donations are welcome.)

Google
This place will have you speechless, the abundance of artists means you get to see a massive range of art styles. Going room to room is like entering portals to other dimensions, very inspiring!!!

Google
my favorite hidden gem of paris! it is amazing to be able to talk to the artist one on one and hear the stories behind their work. the artists are constantly changing, although there are a few that i believe are permanent. i definitely make sure to pass by every few months to see what new artists are there and what has changed. make sure to give credit to the artists please

Google
this place is fantastic. you can really experience what does it means to live the art. here you have the possibility to watch artists working, see and buy their work, talk with them and visit where they spend the most of their time. its full of art, from the stairs and in all rooms, nothing is left without art. really recommended! i have loved it

Google
Great spot for art enthusiasts. Free to visit. Artists working live. Lots of different styles. We truly enjoyed our visit.

Yelp
Very unique experience consisting of multiple stories of floor to ceiling artwork. I don't believe there is an elevator/lift for those who need it, but the spiraling staircase is incredible and fully painted with different themes on each floor. There are many different resident artists there that have small sections of each floor where they work and sell their art. There is such a wide ranging variety of mediums, styles, and art around every corner, there is sure to be something you'll like! Also, its free to enter and walk around! You can buy art from artists if you'd like but there is no pressure to buy anything. Overall great experience!

Yelp
This place was pure delight. One of the highlights of my very unconventional exploration of Paris. I still cherish the painting I got from there a few years ago. Such a fun, interactive art gallery and the history of the place is cool too.

Yelp
#1: Its free! FREE! #2: Its five stories and numerous rooms occupied by dozens and dozens of eccentric and creative French artists whom are up and coming, going nowhere, or maybe just failing miserably financially. You'll see weird art you'll love. You'll also see weirder you'll hate. Some artists are technically skilled...and some artists should go back to art school. Good art. Bad Art. So many emotions. So many opinions. Its all subjective. Enjoy! Or not! #3: If you're only into traditional art, like all those paintings of Jesus dying, stick to the Louvre or Orsay. #4 No one forced you in here, no one forced you to donate. I donated €5, I enjoyed myself enough for about an hour. So before you hate on this place, remember it was free!

Yelp
You'll see it from a block or two away. I honestly don't remember who posted this place online. I bookmarked it because I was traveling with an art lover. As we walked from the Marais area towards the Louvre, the bright colors and objects protruding from the facade really grab your attention. No need for map quest. Be prepared- a lot of steps. You will wind in and out of rooms and halls. We went straight to the top and worked our way down. In 1999 three artists broke into the building abandoned 15 years earlier by Credit Lyonnais bank. Squatted. And it's been an artists' haven for years. Murals line the stairs. You can look at the art, you can watch the artists working. So many different ideas under one roof. You can get an overwhelming feeling. And some of the room are tight. I regret not buying a small piece from a certain artist. The work was unique and beautiful.

Yelp
Pretty cool spot with many levels of amazing artwork! It is free to go in, but if you want to support the artists, they accept donations! Each level is unique in its own way and I am awwed by the creativity behind each piece. I think it's worth a visit when you are in town if you appreciate art!

Yelp
This is not your traditional art gallery. Admission is free but please donate to the cause ... you know starving artists. It was 5 floors of working arts studios with a gallery on the 1st floor. Many of the artists where in house working or chatting. Some great young talent! I loved the work of a calligraphy artist how used old books and Arabic calligraphy. It's a nice way to spend some time in Paris and explore a different art scene than Mona at the Louvre.

Yelp
This is such an eclectic place, 6 floors of pure art within a beautiful parisian style building. The entrance is free. You are greeted by a very friendly lady who would invite you to wander in the each floor or head straight to the 6th which is set as a gallery. A piano is available for you to play if you wish. Graffiti and art prints all over the staircase are putting in the mood of creating yourself your own art piece. It is very messy almost disorganised but it is absolutely inspiring if you see through the beauty of this art house. A must visit if you haven't been yet.

Yelp
Artist collective with six floors of artist studios and exhibition spaces. If you like art or alternative culture, you can't miss this place! Beautiful building and amazing artist studios.

Yelp
I'm big on hitting art studios and galleries here at home. I've never seen anything like this place. None of the artists spoke or acknowledged us as we came through except one, which is fine. To say the place is unique is an understatement. VERY cool space and a variety of art styles, paint based, to see.

Yelp
An awesome, unexpected treasure. 59 Rivoli was one of the coolest places I visited in Paris... and it's free!

Ted Q.

Yelp
Cool! There is something inherently satisfying in seeing artists producing art. After visiting so many galleries and museums with works produced many many years, it was refreshing to see works produced many many minutes ago. Our only regret was not having nearly enough time to enjoy this as thoroughly as we would have liked.

Yelp
My daughter was standing in a cafe talking to my son about how to order 2% milk in French and was befriended by a man on the queue behind them who ascertained that we were American and needed a wee bit of assistance. He invited us to stop by the artist's studios if we got the chance since we were in the neighborhood. My husband AND daughter told me about this and I was thrilled since the other artist collective I wanted to visit was not open on the days we were in Paris. We set off immediately and were happy we took him up on his offer. James M Purpura is the artist who invited us to this gem of an experience where we were able to admire his artwork, speak with Luigi La Ferla and Amy Hamblin as well as meet Etsuko. We did stroll through the other spaces, but to meet and talk with artists at work is such a rich experience. I was happy to pick up a few items from artists while I was there and the work displayed was professional and full of beauty. Of course, there is a certain amount of artistic kitsch, especially on the painted stairs and walls, but the work within the spaces is worthy of notice. This galley is free to the public and completely what one looks for in experiencing a city that welcomes talented artists from all over the world. I wish I had more to time to go back and meet with more artists, they were so gracious and eager to explain their processes and stories.

Yelp
So much to see, completely free! That is, if u can resist the urge to buy something :) I couldn't and I'm over the moon with the prints I bought! So many floors filled with talented people and amazing artwork. Cannot recommend more, I will definitely visit again if I come to Paris.
