While working in Iceland I got from my employer a gift card which allowed me to spend about 200 dollars (equivalent in icelandic koronas) in 66North store. I heard about high quality of their garments, however price tags on those pieces were intimidating, even when compared to expensive Patagonia, Fjallraven or Arcteryx. But apart from that I must admit that I loved the design and marketing strategy of company: local, low-volume production, cutting edge technology, exeptional brand image. I decided to buy polartec fleece jacket called Tindur Shearling Jacket so I used my gift card and paid excessive part of the price in cash (it cost more than 250$). The quality of the jacket was shockingly bad, or to be more specific the quality of polartec fabric. After few weeks of light usage fuzzy structure of shealing material looked like ruffled and heavily worn. Unfortunately I travelled back to my hometown and trying to use warranty was a lot of fuss. I still like how 66North designs their clothes, but price to quality ratio is just ridiculous. In my opinion it's rather a fashion clothes company that pretend to make quality outdoor pieces. In fact it's miserable or in best cases just mediocre. Stay away form this brand if you respect your money.
