7 Cidades Lake Lodge

It was great to be so close to town and having access to bikes was really a plus. Nice lake view and lovely garden. Very nice welcome basket and many good tips from the attentive host.

Filipe the host was amazing!! So helpful and welcoming. We received an amazing welcome basket and the place was amazingly equipped with everything we could possibly need. The location is amazing!! On the water but still close to everything in town. If Im back I’m definitely booking again 🙌🏻

The lodge is in urgent need of renovation and new furniture. Unfortunately, everything smells strongly of damp and mould. After just one night, even our clothes and hair absorbed the smell, and we had to wash everything twice at a laundry on the Azores. We asked for a change of pillows and sheets, but it made no difference. On the second night, we ended up sleeping on the couch in the living room, which also smelled, though slightly less. This was especially disappointing as I was celebrating my 40th birthday and had hoped to enjoy the stay. Instead, it left us with a very negative impression of Sete Cidades. Considering the high price, the quality is far below expectations. After two out of four nights, we decided to leave the property and book a new one, which turned out to be excellent and offered great service. I had hoped the owner might make some effort to improve the situation and not leave such a bitter memory of Sete Cidades, but unfortunately, he chose to ignore us. Given the circumstances, I believe at least a partial refund would have been fair. Without it, the experience feels even more disappointing. With this approach, I’m convinced this property will not last long in the Azores accommodation market.

The little lodges are very cute and cozy. They seem pretty well appointed and designed. The shower was quite nice and spacious and the towel heater rack was clutch - as rain/mist is quite common in the area. There was a little welcome basket and all the basics we needed. It was right by the lake and quite beautiful. The town is very quiet, with few options for food and drink - but there is a little shop down the road, which is quite handy. The only thing that seemed to be a minor issue was bugs. A few ants and moths - nothing bad, but one or two, here and there. I guess it can't be helped - but maybe screens on the windows? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

We booked two of the lake lodges for 7 nights. The lodges are spacious and very well designed. An eye for the mid century in style but clearly well thought out to blend in with the environment. The surroundings are lovely semi tropical and private. The welcome pack was the best we’ve ever had in any accommodation. Our only constructive criticisms are that the Sete Cidades are a humid environment and the lodges would benefit from having dehumidifiers installed to avoid a slight feeling of damp. The owner André and his father were both extremely helpful and gave us excellent info on things to see and do - perhaps having a “house book” with such info in would be good (saves on having to send WhatsApp messages). A very enjoyable stay and happy to recommend.

These are 3 very well-planned out cabins by the lake of 7 cidades. They each have their own little garden with a communal bbq area and free bikes and a kayak are also available. The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen and a fireplace which we lit up every evening since it was quite chilly. A food basket was prepared for us including some very delicious cheese and honey. The highlight of our stay was the baker close by from where we got freshly baked warm bread every morning for just a few cents. We used to go for bike rides along the lakes in the afternoons and further away by car in the mornings and evenings since the good restaurants are at least 15mins away in Mosterios which is lovely at sunset.

A lovely spot right on the crater lake in Sete Ciudad. Very quiet, sleepy little town, with lots of beautiful views and lots of cats (that mind their own business unless you’re like me and want to say hi to them, then they’re often friendly!). The bungalow is beautiful and it was very nice to mix it up and stay in a private space instead of a hotel. The host, André, gave us fantastic suggestions for local activities and information on low tide to visit Ponta de Ferraria, which was a highlight of our trip (an inlet where the Atlantic Ocean is warmed by volcanic activity that is dreamy at low tide).

Staying here made me feel like a local villager in this small town of 500 people. The cabin itself is so cute - I loved burning the candles and the fireplace at night to set a beautiful ambiance. This place is perfect for 1-2 people. I made good use of the free bikes and rode both of the lakes as far as possible/paved. Go to the little market up the street and stock the fridge as the food options in this town are minimal. Visit the little bread house - doors open at 7 a.m. each morning and a family bakes fresh break for about 30 cents. The owner left me a huge basket of local cheeses, wine, biscuits, and fruit - totally delicious stuff and above and beyond expectations.||||I enjoy the lakes and the trails all day and then would drive over the mountain to Mosteiros to catch the sunset. Chase that weather and live the dream!
