The 15 Best Hotels in Madrid of 2024

"If you can spring for one of the penthouse rooms with a terrace at this family-run Malasaña gem, you won’t be sorry. Hammocks and yoga kits beckon on generous outdoor patios, while inside the rooms, chic Spanish artisanal touches abound." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Stylish and very clean hotel. We didn't spend much time in the room but it was always kept spotlessly clean. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The toiletries provided were very nice. We always had lovely clean towels. The shower was great too. We didn't eat at the hotel but had a drink one evening on our return. The service was pleasant and everything was beautifully served. I would highly recommend it.

Well located hotel just off Gran Via in Madrid. The ground floor and reception area is very modern and contemporary with a bar / restaurant situated in this area (which we didn't use). ||We had a deluxe room on the 6th floor which was nice but the view from the window faced onto a wall (the top part of the wall had been cut out to try and give a view). The view had been advertised as a patio and so I appreciate it may be a translation issue but the patio pictures shown on the website are of a lovely looking stairwell with white washed with plants (that can be viewed from the reception area and the breakfast room) there are no pictures on the website of the internal wall that was the view from our room. I can't deny that this was disappointing on arrival.||The room was quiet and very clean. White wooden floor, also a minibar. The bed was quite hard and not particularly comfortable (though this can obviously be somebody elses preference!). ||Bathroom was small but did have a bath as well as a shower and was very clean too. The hair dryer is one that is attached to the wall but I didn't use it.||Breakfast was very good quality and selection. The guy with the beard at breakfast was very friendly and welcoming. ||The staff on reception didn't really engage when we entered and left the hotel. The cleaners were very friendly.||Overall, a nice place but I feel they should be more upfront about the rooms that face onto a wall.

There’s quite a bit of range in what “four-star” can mean, and 7 Islas falls toward the lower end of that spectrum. The location is undeniably excellent - just steps from Gran Vía and an easy walk to many of Madrid’s key sights. The on-site bar and breakfast room are also lovely; the breakfast buffet is varied and plentiful, and the bar serves a fantastic house-made vermouth that’s well worth trying.||However, other aspects of the stay left something to be desired. The staff were not especially warm or attentive. For example, when I arrived with two elderly relatives and multiple suitcases, the front doors (which are not automatic) were difficult to manage and the two reception staff, who were deep in conversation, neither acknowledged our struggle to enter nor assisted us.||The hotel’s aesthetic also feels a bit dated: a minimalist, industrial-modern look that doesn’t offer much warmth or character. The rooms were clean, but the bedding and towels were not of the quality I would expect at this price point and star level.||In summary: excellent location and a great bar and breakfast, but service and comfort could be improved to match the hotel’s four-star designation.

7 Islas is a stylish boutique hotel centrally located to almost everything. Although the area is lively and colorful, the rooms were quiet at night and comfortable. The hotel has rotating exhibits and a sparse industrial chic about it. Pros: great location, nice decor, comfortable bed/room. Cons: No coffee machine/mugs, could be more warm/welcoming.

I agree with another reviewer about the standard for a 4 star hotel: this one misses that standard in my opinion. The front doors aren't automatic which is inconvenient when you have luggage (going in or out) or strength/mobility issues; staff is officious and unfriendly, except for maybe one female; there are no perks for staying such as a welcome drink; towels are thin and robes are on the threadbare side; decor is too industrial and it isn't charming. Great location and easy walk to 3 metro stops and cool neighborhoods; and across the street from a very well stocked convenience store (fresh morning croissants, wine, cava, chocolate, etc). Very clean facility and rooms. Request a quiet room which will have a view of the light well but will be quiet. The price point was high for a less than 4 star hotel.

Lovely hotel. Good area of Madrid. Large spacious room. Friendly staff. Amazing buffet breakfast. Good gym. Only tiny gripe is that the shower is handheld and is in the bath. Not ideal, but manageable. Loved our balcony. We were in Attica 2.

We loved it! Ideal location to explore but you're away from Gran Via and the intense city center. We discovered so many amazing restaurants and bars within 5-10 mins walking from 7 Islas. Lovely room and breakfast, great vibe and decor, and very reasonably priced.

Google
Great hotel, fantastic location. Very quiet despite the area. Rooms are very tidy and comfortable. The breakfast room has a barista and a proper espresso coffee machine. This hotel has the best coffee of any I've ever stayed at, so many just have automatic machines now.

Yelp
This hipster feeling, industrial modern cum chic appearing hotel had a lot to like for me. For those looking to stay near Madrid City Center, this location is great. Just off of Gran Via, it is on a quiet neighborhood street with easy metro stop access at Gran Via (1 block away) and it is within easy walking distance of the cool areas of Puerto del Sol, Chueca, The Opera, and Callao. It is also about a 10 min walk to some of the best places to indulge in tavern/tapas related pleasures just to the east of Puerto del Sol. The hotel interior is somewhat minimalist with cement and off white furniture tones and a lot of interesting metallic touches such as the metal storage lockers at reception where you can check in your baggage for safekeeping. The staff were also somewhat minimalist in attitude which I kind of liked. No one was falling over me to try to carry my bags or get me a drink. If I wanted or needed something, I had to ask for it and once I did, my request was promptly and courteously addressed. Service was exactly what I wanted and nothing over the top. Room prices are moderate to more expensive but the benefit of this trade off is that you are not getting some flea-infested hostel for your money. I would recommend a higher floor, low numbered room which is towards the rear of the hotel. Otherwise, you will run the risk of fronting Calle Valverde which has a few late night bar spots that stay hopping until 4am and it can be pretty boisterous. I was in room 601 and it was as quiet as a church even with my window open. I loved the large format bottles of high-end soaps, shampoos and lotion in the bathrooms (all Malin and Goetz products) and the minimalist tone to the rooms made them feel very clean and well-kept. Unfortunately, part of the minimalist motif meant that there was really no work desk or space (at least not in my room) so beware if you are there on business like I was because it is not conducive to activity that requires a desk. The other improvement that I would recommend is that while appearing very modern, they have utilized the half shower/bath glass partition that is so popular throughout Europe. I simply do not get this concept. Because it does not cover the entire shower, it is impossible to take a shower without getting water all over the place. It is a complete design flaw that seems to have persisted for decades. How Europe can be responsible for engineering some of the worlds finest precision luxury vehicles and then overlook the simple design of a shower barrier is beyond me. The location alone would bring me back on my next trip to Madrid. Now if I could only fit into skinny jeans and learn how to take a shower with no overspray, my life at the 7 Islas would be perfect!

Yelp
I loved everything about this hotel. It was clean with minimalist decor. The room was spacious for two people. It was so close to the Gran Via with lots of restaurants and shops around. The metro station was also close to the hotel. I found this hotel as one of the top boutique hotels in Time Out magazine. The price was also very reasonable. I liked the spacious bathrooms the decor was simple and fun. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here next time I'm in Madrid! Cute bar and cafe and nice seating area in the lobby. There was also decent breakfast for 12€. So many breakfast options so didn't opt for the breakfast. Free WiFi and staff was great! Loved this place! Five stars!

Yelp
It was like staying in a trendy hotel in Soho or Tribeca in NYC but at a fraction of the cost, none of the noise, and a friendlier staff. Our room was beautiful. Flooded with natural light when the curtains were open. Spacious bathroom. The staff was exceptional. The location really can't be beat. I will post pictures because the ones posted aren't very good.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our four nights at this convenient and upscale Madrid Hotel. Although it seems more like a three star hotel doe to lack of some four star features, the rooms are comfortable and quiet. We really appreciated the breakfast buffet with its very competent and helpful staff and ample selection of fresh Frits as well as eggs and bacon. And it was nice to have an English newspaper for breakfast. They should upgrade their cable TV selection by adding something like CNN, but that is a quibble. The proximity to the Gran Via metro stop makes this a hotel with easy access to the key sites. It is a 15-20 minute walk or 5 euro taxi ride to the Prado.

Yelp
This was a lovely hotel centrally located on a quiet street (very close to all the action). Loved the minimalist decor and the cleanliness .The hotel staff was knowledgeable and helpful and the price was reasonable $ I'd definitely return here next time I am in Madrid. Mateo, one of the hotel staff members was particularly helpful. I often spoke to him about what I needed to know, directions, etc...
