The best meal we ate in Cyprus.. in fact my partner who is half Cypriot spent every summer as a kid out there and eaten in the best Greek Cypriot restaurants back in London said it’s some of the best Cypriot food he has eaten.. save family meals of course 😉 don’t expect grilled food this is more home, slow cooked style. To start we had bread and dips, the bread was freshly baked, absolutely delicious and the htipiti (spicy feta dip) was very tasty in particular. Other highlights were the Pork belly, kleftiko (it was mutton which isn’t to everyone’s taste but we loved it), Pork Afelia, Gemista (stuffed peppers with rice and pork mince) and Moussaka. We also tried out their puddings - I’d reccomend Rizogolo which is a cool rice pudding with cinnamon, a favourite of my partner’s, took him right back to his childhood!
I will warn you the flavours are strong here, for example the moussaka contained a lot of allspice and nutmeg, but that’s Greek food for you. Flavourful and that’s just how it’s meant to be. We love it. Really authentic. It was a mix of tourists and locals which is a good sign! Reasonably priced, wish we could have eaten more.
A lot of cats here, but if you ignore them they’ll leave you alone!
You must reserve a table here to avoid disappointment, they were turning away people the evening we attended.
