"Grab a Beer on the Porch We were out at Kruger Farms on Sauvie Island for a summer evening concert when we came across the Captured by Porches beer bus. Parked amid the farm-fresh veggies, burger stands, and roasted corn on the cob, the beer line seemed manageable for as hot as it was. The beer bus tenders were friendly and knowledgeable, recommending their cool, crisp Kolsch to start things off. It wasn't long before I was on the bus. Their IPA was next on my list, and it fit the bill as the evening cooled down. Went really well with the ear of roasted corn I couldn't get enough of. You can find the bus year-round in a number of locations around town. The NoPo locations include the pod out on N Lombard, also NE 23rd and Alberta . The cart pod up on Lombard is cool and mellow with good food and a nice beer garden on sunny afternoons and warm evenings. Check their website for hours and other bus stops. Captured by Porches is certainly one of the oddest brewing sensations in Beervana and worth a ride if you're in the neighborhood."

Yelp
Artisan sourdough crust stretched thin, topped with simple, quality organic ingredients by the masterful hands of a pizza expert. I'm telling you, this is what makes the pizza cart in the corner of this food truck village your next pizza destination. Crust on both- very thin, crispy edges and charring from the sick pizza oven they somehow stuffed in a food truck (thankful they did). Standard "Pepperoni" - smaller pepperoni kind that shrink and get deliciously crispy edges and tiny pools of greasy gold, not the oversized sloppy soggy stuff you see at big chains! Zippy red sauce where you can still see tomato, uncomplicated with excessive sugar or spices. "Ricotta-Arugula" - my inner dialogue had me thinking "this sourdough crust is already a winner so let's take fresh arugula and toss it in lemon and high quality olive oil to throw on top...." ...."wait this has ricotta too!!!" So damn good I couldn't postpone that first bite to take a picture and before I knew it, it was gone before the camera was out! Don't let the chill demeanor of the pizza guy (owner?) make you think you're getting a chill product. I could see him remaking something that didn't fit his high standards (not wasted but consequently gifted to a gentleman walking by looking for scraps) and this is why they refuse to serve bad batches of dough. A business that refuses to put out subpar items can only mean you're guaranteed quality (also very cool I got to experience a worker doing a small-time kindness for an individual who was obviously down on his luck). Check em out!

Yelp
Do you know what pizza is? This is pizza. Not premade, not standardized, handmade, tastes like it has lived a life, that whatever it was made from became what it is now. This is what it is supposed to be. Cupping pepperoni, a fire that cooked it, flour developed by sourdough and started the crust. If you want domino's pizza, go be boring.

Yelp
It's really all about that crust and the char on the underside. It gives that little extra to a slice of pizza. Now, I've written many reviews of pizza in this town, with many getting "Review of the Day". I may know a thing or two about it. Pizza Creature came out of nowhere to me. Until I started coming up to Lombard on a semiregular basis (it's football season and Lombard House is across the street) I didn't know of their existence and I'm glad that only three carts were open this past Monday evening, because I probably wouldn't have glanced at them. This is as legit at Pizza Thief or Dimo's and they are doing it on a cart. In an article a while back, the owner of Dimo's mentioned that a Margharita pizza is the best way to judge if a place will have good pizza. I've always done it by whether a pizza place has fresh garlic pies. Pizza Creature has a white pizza for only $10. All pizzas are 12" pies. This one was loaded with slices of garlic, dollops of creamy ricotta and mozzarella to finish it off. As I post this, I'm eating the leftovers cold, and it's still good. All pizzas are done with a sourdough crust (like the former Pizza Doughnais used to do) and that char on the bottom adds that nice sour touch to enhance the pungent garlic. I was also able to try a slice of an eggplant pizza that is on the menu that had two unusual ingredients not normally on pizza. Walnuts and Harissa. The eggplant was beautiful, the walnuts, texture and the harissa, just a little zing. So good. If you live in the area, you have a great place to visit for pies, if not, then make a trip up here once in a while. Grab a beer from the St. Johns Beer Porch and enjoy some zah. Support local. Enjoy.

Yelp
10s across the board not even 5's come and get bomb brick oven pizzas and salads that will make you question if if salads are for rabbits because they do some damn good salads too! 15/10 will be coming back again!

Yelp
Easily one of the best pizza food carts in town. It's my go-to spot, I have yet to be disappointed!! The service is a hit or miss, sometimes they're super friendly other times they're not but the pizza is so good that I don't even care!

Yelp
As good as the pizza I've had in Italy. Don't walk, run there. AND, great prices!!! Large brought to share between 2 people adults. Our total was $14. Danggggggggggg!!

Beau G.

Yelp
Damn! Excellent Za! Pepperonis on point. Crust on point. Ceaser on point. I'll be back for sure. Thanks!

Yelp
Stunning quality. Great chew on a thin yet richly browned and charred sourdough crust. Perfect nostalgic pepperoni cups. Buttery cheese, strong red sauce, all in ideal distribution. A beautiful pie, as good as you could hope for, from Apizza Scholls to Lovely's to Woodlawn. Great price as well. And the Caesar salad was solid too.

Yelp
Ordered a pepperoni pizza and absolutely loved it. The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars is the price. $17+ (including the 20% gratuity) for a single personal pizza is just too steep for me to justify coming back here. Very good pizza, but just a but outside the price range I want for a food truck visit for 1.

Yelp
I came here for dinner yesterday and ordered the mushroom pizza and Caesar salad. The staff warned me it'd be about a 45-minute wait, so I walked around the neighborhood, and when I came back the order ready shortly after I returned. I took the food and ate at a nearby park, and I really enjoyed the Ceasar salad. The dressing had a nice balance of savory, funky, and tart. I also liked that it included baby kale. The pizza was also very delicious, and confirmed I'm a sucker for roasted garlic. My only small qualm was the spreading of the toppings lacked consistency. There wasn't very much kale, and the mushrooms were sort of globbed together (vs. evenly spread). Again, not a big deal, but just noting a preference. FYI, for those with anxiety, the pod is taking extra (and REASONABLE) precautions around covid (table seating is assigned, extra sanitizing, one entrance one exit). I was already a little anxious (not related to covid/the pod) before coming here and felt that the unique procedures ratcheted up my anxiety. I'm thinking about returning to try another cart, and will make sure I'm grounded before entering the space. Don't forget to tip the pod-service staff!

Yelp
We got a couple of pies. They were ready really quickly which was awesome. The classic white pie was good but we felt it was missing something to put it over the top. The margherita had a nice fresh taste to it. Light and bright. We liked that one the best. We did feel that both could've been cooked a bit more to crisp the crust. Honestly these pies were good enough that we would order from here again.

Yelp
I happened to stumble across this foodcart and I'm very glad I did. This might be my new favorite pizza place, super friendly, great service and the pizza is phenomenal. It all starts with the crust, and the pizza creature crust is the perfect mix of soft and chewy with just the right amount of char from the woodfire. The toppings are generous and it's not too greasy, the exact right amount. I would highly recommend this to anyone! They are very vegan friendly too.

Yelp
I recently came to this food cart pod to eat and most of the carts were closed. I honestly picked Pizza Creature just because it was open. I ordered their special which was heirloom tomatoes, pesto, and lotsss of cheese and holy moly it was so good and SO beautiful. Look at the pictures I have included. It's a seriously pretty pie. I have a thing for wood fired crust and this is THE BEST I have had in Portland. It had the perfect char, was amazingly chewy, and had nice flavor. 10/10 and will be back!

Yelp
UPDATE: I checked my pizzas before leaving and sure enough one was totally burnt on top. I mentioned this and having this problem the past few times. There were nicely willing to remake it but that it would just turn out the same. I said that wasn't the case just a couple months ago when the top and bottom came out perfectly. The person said something about humidity and dough, which given the rainy season could be a factor. So they're clearly AWARE THEIR PIZZAS ARE COOKING UNEVENLY. But after some scouring the internet and other Neapolitan pizza sources, it sounds like uneven oven heating. When the surface of the oven isn't hot enough, then the toppings and top of the crust will burn while the bottom remains undercooked. Char is good but totally burnt on top to get the bottom cooked properly isn't good eats. Guess I'll have to come back in summer to test out their "humidity" theory (even though there's ways to alter the dough for that too...oh well!) I really like their pizzas; the ingredients are high quality and they're very reasonably priced. But more than a few times the crust has been burnt beyond recognition so that the dominant flavor is char. It's really unfortunate because their crust is so good!! (When it's not overcooked). A little chat is great, but I don't know how you can serve a pizza that clearly burnt to a customer. Like okay, you weren't paying attention and left it in the oven too long. Just remake it, they cook so quickly. But trying to pass it off as fine to a customer thinking they won't notice? Just threw away $30 worth of pizza. I feel like I have to now check my pizzas each time I go there before taking them home. When they're good, they're really good! But that's been less and less lately :(

Yelp
We came here and ordered the ricotta arugula pizza and added seitan pepperoni and WOW - delicious!!!! And the sourdough crust was fantastic!!!

Yelp
BEST VEGAN PIZZA!!! Not kidding, I eat here at least once a month. Simple menu but everything is so good and you really can't make a bad decision with any of the pizzas. My favorite is the Mushroom White Pizza & Pesto Pizza

Yelp
Me and my significant eater visited Pizza Creature after not being completely full by a shared meal. We picked a new place in the food pods based on playing "what here are you dying to try?" We landed on the pepperoni. And it. Was. Awesome. Currently in the days of Covid-19 precautions the seating is limited (awesome), masks are required (rad), touch less payments and cards are preferred (keep yo grubby cash), and the entrances/exits have been limited (eeeexcellent). Do you see the little tiny pepperonis? They're perfectly spaced. Did you notice that they're not haphazardly tossed, one atop the other, like a freaking monster but rather delicately placed with thought for each bite having a pepperoni?! Maybe you're a "perfect bite" connoisseur too and I don't sound totally insane right meow. Right now. Yes... The crust. Oh god. The crust. If all the toppings slid off I'd be sad, but I wouldn't die because the crust is LOVE. I worked summers in NYC in my youth and worked right next to a little pizzeria that was my defacto lunch spot. The crust here is reminiscent of the handmade, thin, FOLDABLE (!!!!) crust circa the NYC pizza days. I literally ate myself overly fully because I just wanted to feel the crust in my mouth. I'm not proud of what I've done, but I wore stretchy pants so what I'm saying is I made the right life choices and come fight me for the last piece, bro. I'm all jazzed up on perfectly spaced pepperoni and MOMMAS COMMIN' FOR DAT CRUST.

Yelp
Its nice to find a cart that makes wood fired pizzas...especially in the St. John's area. One thing about the wood fired pizzas is that you know you will be getting it quick as they do not take long to cook. The pepperoni pizza I had was delicious and was a good size and not that expensive. The pizza was not too thick and the crust was pretty good (normally I do not crust as they fill me up quick). I liked that the pepperoni had a little grease coming out of it, making every bite flavorful!
google avatar

Sadie H.

Yelp
I really love this spot. If you're looking for a fairly priced and delicious wood fired personal pizza this is the spot to go! They have a good amount of choices that can easily satisfy anyone lookin' and even have vegan options! We got the mushroom pie (forgot to snap a pic) and the classic white with arugula. Both were awesome and so tasty. The cook told me he might have overcooked the classic, but to be honest it was perfect and not overdone at all. Would definitely recommend when you visit porches!

Cactus J.

Yelp
Awesome brick fired pizza in a good truck! Friendly service from a clearly busy one man band. Enjoyed the mushroom pizza. Also appreciated the reasonable prices.

Yelp
This place is great! Fast service, fresh ingredients, flavorful sauce. I've been here 3 times already and this place hasn't failed me. The pepperoni is my go to, but the eggplant pizza, sooooo good too! Def check this joint out!

Yelp
I hate to write an negative review, but... here it is. After reading numerous positive comments about this pizza cart, I wanted to try it out. It's local, close to home and seemingly delicious. I ordered a pepperoni and a ricotta/arugula pizza. I ate a one slice of each pie. To keep my review short, here are my pros and cons: Pros- their pizzas are simple, fresh tasing. Quick service. Cons - a couple of hours after eating the pie, I felt sick. Stomach pains, etc. Being a Portland Native, food carts are the thing to do, there's just that little bit of curiosity of how clean are the hands that prepare your food, or how well kept the ingredients are? Maybe it was just a one off, maybe not? Bye bye Pizza!
google avatar

Vandana M.

Yelp
Sat at the food carts for over an hour... was told it would be a 45 min wait. Bought a pizza and tipped 25% .... They never made the pizza. They shut down the food cart, they told us to come back tomorrow. I'm never coming back here again.

Yelp
Unpopular opinion time: I typically can't stand food carts. Many years ago, they served a purpose; delivering cheap, decent quality food to workers. Typically situated near offices, plants and factories. Nowadays? In hip, residential neighborhoods where day drinking hipsters congregate, and the carts themselves charge restaurant prices for okay quality food. But Pizza Creature? This place is awesome. It's very reasonably priced (9-12 dollars for a ten inch personal pizza that will actually make you feel satisfied), and the ingredients are fresh and good quality. This is a great place to grab a pizza, a beer and enjoy warm summer evenings. My favorite is the ricotta arugula pizza, but there is typically a special they offer depending on availability of ingredients. The area around the carts is spacious, and there is a fire pit and plenty of tables. There is a covered area if you don't want sun exposure, but I found it gets wicked hot during the summer months. There are porta-potties, so if you want a clean restroom, look elsewhere.

Yelp
Spent the evening looking up some good pizza places in the Portland area and read most reviews for this place, New York, and Mississippi. Ended up deciding to go here because I thought hey the 11" inch pizza looks pretty good and it's got some decent reviews! I got a margherita pizza which I thought was pretty basic and if you look at the photos here on yelp looks pretty divine! I also got a little adventurous and added some pepperoni since I like some meat! The pros: 1. The cheese tasted fresh 2. Pizza done in 10 minutes The cons: 1. A really lack luster amount of sauce to the point it was almost dry. It looked nothing like the pictures on yelp! 2. A pretty minuscule amount of ingredients. If you look at previous photos those pizzas look absolutely amazing! Lots of sauce lots of cheese and a good amount of basil. 3. I was told 10 minutes and was promptly back to pick up my order in 10 minutes. As soon as I dug into the pizza though it was already pretty cold and was pretty darn chewy. Maybe I just went on an off night but I definitely did not have the same pizza experience as some of the other reviewers. Hopefully if any of you other fellow yelpers decide to go it's a little better, but for me I don't think I could recommend this place to friends or family... Next step for me is to try the other pizza joints here in Portland!

Yelp
Now that I live in Portsmouth, I've slowly been eating my way around. I noticed there is so much damn pizza over here. I am not your standard "all pizza is good pizza" person. When i want carbs, i want pasta. The pizza has got to be superb for me to indulge. When I was in SE, I awarded those cravings to Scotties (and occasionally Ranch when in the mood). But there were just too many "great" pizza places that weren't doin it for me. Well, one day we went to the St. John food carts and it was late enough to where a lot of places were already closed. But not Pizza Creature. We got 3 rather cheap pizzas, and just by the looks of them they seemed special. Crust had bubbly leopard spots and the sauce was fresh. We purposely ordered very diverse pizzas, and each one was a hit.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a great pizza truck - not only in St Johns but also anywhere in Portland. It is a shame that Nathan Myhrvold did not check this joint out! They surely would beat out their neighbor competitor Gracie's... Gracie's is good but @ higher price point and smaller pies. The sourdough crust is on point. Sauce is tangy and the toppings are just really legit... We always ordered a Margherita for consistent comparison with many we have had over the years - including THAT ONE in Naples and the pepperoni... Just a wonderful experience. $ 9 for a Margherita??? Can't beat it... Run here and stuff yourself happy

Yelp
Oh, Pizza Creature. Thank god you're in my neighborhood, and have the best vegan pizza in the city (even better than Virtuous Pie, in my opinion). How they make their vegan cheeses is a mystery, but I'm so happy they sold their souls to the Vegan Devil (hail seitan!) for the cashew and tofu cheese secrets so I get to enjoy it on my pizza. The Mushroom White pizza is my go-to (pro tip: add arugula post-oven, which they give you for free!), and it has never disappointed. The mushrooms are fresh, and the vegan ricotta is amazing. My husband swears by the vegan pepperoni and has never strayed no matter how fantastic the other pies sound. The service is always super friendly and the pies are big for ~$12. It can get pretty backed up in the warmer months, and we have had on occasion a new pizza chef (cook? baker?) who hasn't yet perfected the wood-fired oven or the chewy sourdough, and we've left with a less-than-ideal pizza (smaller than normal, undercooked/overcooked dough), but the good outweighs the less-good in Pizza Creature's case. Next time you're in St Johns, get yourself a fantastic pie and a wonderful beer (curated by Jackie, the lovely Scottish gent who runs The Beer Porch) and you'll thank me!

Yelp
I highly recommend the pesto pizza. It has mushrooms, olives, and other goodness. Pepperoni is really good too. We walk down to Pizza Creature the time. It has become our go to pizza spot. High quality at a great price point. Crust reminds me of wood fired pizza. It's thin, but the bottom has a crunch too it, so I wouldn't characterize it as New York style. Staff are super friendly and thoughtful. It's so easy and nice interacting with them--I'm sure that's another reason this has become our default takeout spot.

Yelp
One of the best pizzas I've ever had. My partner and I just moved to Portland and are trying neighborhood spots so we can acclimate to the new town. We found this one by accident, and oh my goodness! We've been back at least once a week for the last four weeks, and the pizzas are consistently delicious. I stick with the mushroom each time, but my partner has tried a few. You can't miss with this place. And well worth the wait when there is one!!
google avatar

Yelp
I love pizza creature! Their vegan pepperoni is delicious! You wouldn't hardly know it was vegan. Pizza big enough to share for under $15. Always fast, always fresh, always yum!
google avatar

Yelp
Let me tell you, Pizza Creature was definitely cool. Every single thing is delicious, fresh, the crew is very nice the place kept very clean. It really tasted incredible. And also, the service was wonderful and the staff was very helpful. Definitely recommend! Would come again for sure!
google avatar

Eric W.

Yelp
Great wood fired pie. Mostly Neapolitan but a little crispier and thinner. Ingredients were high quality and fresh. Service was fast. Nice selection of house pizzas and an option to customize as well. Cool thing about this place is they offer slices (1/4 pizzas). Something you don't see a lot from smaller wood-fired spots. Almost went back for a slice of pepperoni after downing a whole mushroom white pie.
google avatar

Ruby T.

Yelp
Whenever I try out a pizza spot the 3 types of pizza I always order is a Margherita, Pepperoni or Cheese. Simple basic ingredients. It's the best way to tell if their using fresh ingredients. You start with the quality of the sauce, cheese and lastly the dough! The staff was super nice and got my Margherita pizza done quickly! From the first bite I knew this was going to be an amazing meal. The sauce had a prefect tang in it that you'll only get from fresh tomatoes! The servings of mozzarella was on point. The dough had that perfect crunch outside and softness in the middle. This is a great addition for NoPo! Can't wait to come back and try their specials.
google avatar

Assaf M.

Yelp
Great place to hang out on weekends evenings. It's part of a pod that has also beer and many other food options. The pizza is great. The pie is not thin and not too thick. Lots of creative toppings and most of all they have all the pies in vegan version with their own home made vegan cashew cheese.
google avatar

Kristine P.

Yelp
The best pizza in St. Johns. The chewy sourdough crust makes my heart skip a beat. If you like quality pizza at a reasonable price then you MUST try this food truck. I saw a review about getting sick and can say I've eaten her many many times and never got sick. This pizza is so delicious!

Yelp
Best pizza in Portland!!! The vegan options make it so easy for us to enjoy amazing pizza without having to sacrifice flavor or topping choices. It's a weekly tradition and when we pull up to the pod of carts, our 2 year old exclaims "PEA-ZAH"
google avatar

Mary H.

Yelp
Very tasty pizza. Thin crust, great price and accommodating special order. Friendly service. So fun that it's close to our daughter's house. I'll be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Oh man. I don't think I have ever taken a bite of pizza and then looked back down in amazement and wonder. Truly one of the best slices I have ever had. I keep going back! I had no idea where the pie was from when I first ate it. My lady brought it home and gave me a couple slices. After a couple of bites I exclaimed my satisfaction and need to know where it came from. "Pizza Creature!" She replied. Good good good!!!

Dirk K.

Yelp
Best pie in St Johns. Got me a growler to go to pair with their amazing pizza. Life is good. Shop local !
google avatar

Yelp
It's my family's spot for vegan pizza in the neighborhood. It's really good. Also the conventional pies are terrific. I personally like outdoor space but weather is a factor.

Julianne Z.

Yelp
Come for the pizza, stay for the cheesy bread. A great menu including all of it available vegan, the wood-fired crust is perfect which is really what keeps me returning for more. The owner is super friendly and knows what they're doing in creating one of the best pizza places (and creature comforts) in Portland.
google avatar

Jessica H.

Yelp
By far the most authentic Italian pizza I have had in Portland. The ingredients are always fresh and the price is right. I would highly recommend the margarita pizza, it is both very authentic and has fresh ingredients.
google avatar

Yelp
Extremely delicious wood-fired pizza. So lucky to have this place just a few blocks away.

Yelp
Omg so excited about pizza creature!!! They have amazing vegan and vegetarian pies! We were so happy to discover a place with incredible vegan pepperoni! Service was nice, pizzas came out quick and now I have a new fav pizza place in north pdx!

CrazyOldMaurice ..

Yelp
Some of the best pizza i have had in Portland. Seriously good chewy crust. Had an asparagus pie with ricotta, garlic and lemon and the pepperoni. Perfect wood fire pizza. If they left I would honestly be very upset.

Yelp
I do not hand out five stars but this place rocks some wood fired pizza. I'm talking, I don't need to drive to SE to go to Ken's anymore, good. Quick, very pleasant service. Genuinely kind people and freaking amazing pizza. Excellent selection for meat eaters or vegans. I can't say enough about this cart, so, so grateful they are in NoPo!

Yelp
Finally, somewhere in PDX doing long fermentation mother levain pizza dough!!! This cart is AMAZING. And not only is it delicious with a great ethos, it's also pretty cheap considering what you're getting wih the amount of work these folks put into the pizza. On a recent visit I spoke with some of the employees and they told me that the mother levain dough does at least a 12 hour ferment and sometimes a lot longer. What that lengthy ferment does is give the dough an amazing flavor profile. The toppings are very high quality as well, but what truly sets this pizza apart from the competition is the crust. It has the perfect balance between chewy and crispy with parts of the pizza nicely charred and other parts almost so. And then there is the yeasty goodness from that long ferment. YUM. One pizza easily feeds a healthy adult. If you're in a group I'd suggest trying a few different types of pies. The staff are super friendly and engaging and are happy to answer questions about their process. Not to be missed is getting to view their glorious oven, it looks incredible and bakes the pizzas in a matter of minutes. Only about 20 feet away is the St. Johns beer porch. I'd place my order at Pizza Creature and then run over and grab a Golden Ale or a nice Saison to pair with your pie. If you appreciate good pizza and a great food ethos look no further than the Pizza Creature!!!!!

Abby V.

Yelp
Best. Vegan. Pizza. Ever. This is our favorite pizza! They're fast, love the staff and so glad it's close to home! :)
