"More than worth a visit if you’re in the Gaslamp Quarter, Neighborhood features healthy food for everyone from the meat lover to the gluten avoider. Guests will also find around 27 local brews on tap and many more kinds of bottled beer. The vibe here is cozy, with plenty of shared seating by large, open windows. Note: it can get busy during peak hours, so it’s best to visit just before or after the usual lunch and dinner times."

Yelp
It was our first time here the vibe is so cute! It is very dim inside and not alot of seating. But a super cool place to grab dinner or drinks with someone. We ended up ordering to go cause the music was a little loud and we weren't expecting it to be a bar bar. We thought it would be your typical dinner spot. Our server was very nice and helped us out quickly. We ordered the blooming onion, wedge salad with fried chicken and the hood burger. Everything was a 10/10! Even if it was to go. Excited to come back and try other things on the menu!

Yelp
It's been a year since I've last visited, but since I'll be visiting SD again, I'm here to write a very late review. To get to Noble Experiment, you go through the Neighborhood. We had time to kill AND I was hungry so we decided to sit at the bar and order some bone marrow. The bone marrow was delicious! I love when my lips are so oily and glossy from bone marrow. Interior was cute and I remember our server and bartender being so engaging and sweet. Would def come back!

Yelp
Great vibe and good food. When we walked in around 8pm on a Saturday, it was not yet busy and we were able to get a seat at the bar. They do have some tables but it is a pretty small bar so there is a higher chance of standing. We got whiskey shots which were $15 each and it was a whole full glass up to the rim of the shot glass. It was a pretty large shot (more like a double shot). We ordered their bone marrow and blooming onion while waiting for our table to be ready at the speakeasy (Noble Experiment). But when we just got our food, we were notified that our table was ready. Noble Experiment will not allow you to bring in the food with you so we had to give our spot to someone else and get on the waitlist again. Keep that in mind if you are at the Neighborhood waiting for your spot at the speakeasy. Now, the bone marrow and the blooming onion were amazing. I would go just to eat them again! They both came out hot fresh out the oven and seasoned perfectly. They were worth every penny.

Yelp
The perfect date night - I wasn't super in love with the loud music but it was a vibe. It was romantic with the dark lighting, cool low tones of light, two secret speak easy bars in the back if you can get it while You are there go there first to see how long the wait is and then sit down for some delicious food. Obsessed with the blooming onion, had the Cobb salad with no prosciutto for vegetarians and it was simply yet super flavorful. All around great treat

Yelp
Neighborhood absolutely slaps. If I lived in SD I'd be a regular here for sure. Fantastic beer list with some sweet to go options, elevated grub (Hood burger w/ Gruyère + arugula is stupid good), and one of the best store picks of Weller antique 107 I've ever had. Only downside I'd say is the space is fairly small and can get packed very quickly. Service was attentive and food and drinks came out fast. They knocked the vibes out of the park. Seems like every CH spot I visit has its own unique feel and look, but you can still tell it's undeniably a CH spot. Another must visit in SD around the Gaslamp quarter.

Yelp
Great service even with the place being packed. Staff came over and checked in on us while waiting for the second stop at noble experiment. Dim ambiance with that underground feel and Gadsby gold flair. Enjoyed a few pours in the waiting area with bar stools and countertop along with cider & kombucha which was actually a refresher before the next round. Some interesting bottles displayed fitting with the theme. The stand out was the great service from the staff here.

Yelp
How have I not tried this place until just recently? Was in San Diego and decided to try this place after getting drinks at Young Blood. The vibe at Neighborhood is hip. It's pretty chill, food's good. We were able to get a group of 5 seated at one of the booths in the back on a Saturday night. Food ordered: Burger, Blooming Onion, Bolognese, Steak Frites, more burgers. Lots of drinks. You can't go wrong with a blooming onion ever - tastes really good, comes out hot, and you get saaaauce. The Bolognese at Neighborhood was so good that we went home and made Bolognese for the week that same week. Food was great, drinks were great, will be coming back.

Yelp
Wanted to love it but not that great. Just another instagram worthy restaurant/bar with very basic food. The bone marrow was okay, and the toast was very greasy. We also got drinks which were pretty okay, but nothing I'd remember. Staff was okay, seems like they have their favorite locals and every one else is chopped liver. We waited over an hour for a table & realized they skipped me .. she said my text did not send & she couldn't reach me. It's a small place you can see me. Besides the annoyance I'd think the food would make up for it, boy was I wrong.

Yelp
Good late night spot downtown! Dim ambient lighting, loud music, cool interior. Got there close to midnight on a Thursday and it was still pretty packed, but we were able to find seats at the bar right away. The cocktails were good and strong which is all ya can really ask for! TIP: try the "secret" door behind the beer kegs near the bathroom ;)

Yelp
4 stars... Literally moved into the neighborhood, so what could be better than visiting a joint called.. "Neighborhood"! Good local beer options and fun bar scene. Opted for the chicken sando; crispy, saucy goodness...served with fries and pickles...I'm glad I chose this one! Ambiance is speakeasy copacabana, service was prompt and friendly, and prices were in line with area. Such a cool joint right near my new place...I could see myself becoming a regular. This joint makes the list!

Yelp
Small place. Stumbled on it walking around. They seemed to have a large variety of drinks, decent menu, and the food was hot when it came out. Nice place to grab a drink with friends.

Yelp
I haven't been since the remodel in 2021 so it was a huge change to the casual neighborhood restaurant vibe. The upscale warm and moody vibe makes you feel like you're transported to a little hidden gem honoring a wide selection of craft beers, cocktails and drinks that are at center stage as you enter the bar is floor to ceiling lit with low lighting. Reservation is a must as this hot spot has a waitlist all night. Wait time for us was about an hour. With great company time does fly and the music selection drowns out all the chatter and memories being made. They do have a much smaller menu than what I remember. Seating is very limited as the space is small but they made it cozy. The outdoor seating is nonexistent now as the atmosphere has evolved focusing on the more of the bar. On a whim to be spontaneous we tried the caviar bump with a shoot of beer. This is as stated a mix of trashy and class. A dollop of white sturgeon caviar served on your own hand to enjoy. It was I will say an experience that is one and done for me. lol. We also had the steak frites which was cooked perfectly the hanger steak was dripping in rich bone marrow butter that elevated the steak. The fries under were cooked and seasoned perfectly looking for more on the plate after we devoured it. To drink we settled on a mixed berry (bourbon, strawberry, lemon little sugar topped with fresh mint) and a whiskey sour. It worked out placing our name for the Nobel experiment as well but both speakeasy also had a long waitlist. I remember the Nobel experiment more secretive to get into and not being able to just walk in and add my name. Overall on a spontaneous night out we had a great time.

Yelp
Well crafted food. They take a different approach with their flavor combos and do some really cool things with their dishes. Place looks like an upscale speakeasy; "swanky" maybe?

Yelp
Everything about this place is amazing. Nashville hot chicken and the blooming onion and wedge salad all a must try!
google avatar

Yelp
What a wonderful spot, it is the coolest vibe that has this 1950s feel, like mid-century modern to the max , enclosed in a recording studio and maybe a little secret hidden in the back. Food was fantastic, the burgers unbelievable. The beer selection was wonderful. The hospitality of the service was even better--Drew was extremely welcoming and attentive. Enjoy!
google avatar

Jack S.

Yelp
I hadn't been to the neighborhood in quite sometime. It went through a major renovation and it's better than ever. Drew really brought the hospitality at the bar and invited us to their speakeasy which we didn't even know existed. The whole experience really made our night!

Shad S.

Yelp
Service at the bar is always great...but last 2 times have sat somewhere else. Service was horrible...waited 10 minutes for drink and martini arrived with only 1 olive (seemed like a "Fuck you" since I complained). WTF. Food was great. But had no one checking on us to get second drink and had to finally grab employee walking by to order. Great place. Just wish service was better
google avatar

Zakira J.

Yelp
Very cute, rustic theme inside. Also very loud, so if you're looking for a quiet place this isn't it. I would come here just for the blooming onion, it was so yummy! However I wasn't impressed with the bone marrow. I have definitely had better. But overall, the biggest disappointment was that we were told we could wait at the bar until our table was ready and once we were seated at our table we had to wait almost 20+ min until someone came to take our order. The server did apologize and comped our meal in the end which was really nice of him. But sadly, the long wait had resulted in our night not ending well which was very disappointing.

Yelp
As an unofficial espresso martini purveyor, I feel that I am qualified to rank these as the actual best espresso martinis. Ever. Josh took amazing care of us - he was so attentive and kind- even when the bar was PACKED. That type of service goes a long way. The food and drinks are incredible and the vibe is elevated and very mellow. We recommend the sausage platter for its variety and eclectiveness. We can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Want to find a bar so good it feels like your own secret? The Neighborhood is it! Its entrance is practically hiding between two potted plants, but once you find it, you're in. This adorable, old-school bar oozes charm, and the bartenders are top-notch with drinks and recommendations. Pro tip: the bing bread is a must-try snack. Seriously, go!
google avatar

Adrian L.

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday night and it got pretty packed. I got Steak Frites and the Blooming Onion and it was pretty good. The food came out quick. The staff were really nice but the service was okay.

Yelp
Enjoyed some good late night eats at Neighborhood recently. It's a buzzy, dimly lit space perfect for date night, or night out with friends. The onion blossom was a great treat reminiscent of my childhood, and the burger was juicy and cooked perfectly. Would recommend!
google avatar

Rebecca N.

Yelp
Great service. Great vibe. Great food. Great drinks. I highly recommend. We have ordered the blooming onion, steak frites, bone marrow and Hamburger helper macaroni and cheese. It was amazing
google avatar

Yelp
This is a cute lights dim bar/ restaurant I loved the food here . We got the Onion Blossom so delicious it's a must try . We came inside looking for the two speakeasy's located inside which are the Noble Experiment and Young Blood we were fortunate enough to get into Youngblood and we loved it. While waiting we had some drinks at the bar . After we got done with our experience at the speakeasy we came here for a late night snack. There is no food inside the speakeasy's so for food this is the place. The service and food were 10/10 we enjoyed our time here . I loved the vibe ..I would definitely be back when in the area .

Yelp
What a cool little spot to have a night out! The place was packed and waitlist on a Tuesday night so I was a little surprised as it was my first time here but was able to order drinks at the bar while me and my friend waited for a table. The wait list took about 30 mins but we were able to stay inside the whole time. Once seated, I got to ordering the blooming onion as appetizer since I haven't had one of these since eating a a certain Australian themed steakhouse and it looked amazing. The servers and bar staff were attentive for it being so busy. I heard the other speakeasy bar, Noble Experiment was just on the other side of this place and I have plans to visit there soon. I enjoyed this night out, food and drinks were great and so was this dessert brownie sundae. Loved it here!

Yelp
I LOVE the neighborhood! I went here early on a weekend and just walked in for a table for 4, which was totally fine. We started the night with caviar bumps which was so so fun! Their food was absolutely delicious! I highly suggest getting the burrata as an appetizer. I also loved the crispy potato because it was a little animal fries vibe. We drank espresso martinis which were so good. This bar is a very cool vibe and is super nice on the inside. Pro tip! When you get there or your food arrives, follow the bathrooms to the secret door and put your names in at the speakeasy. This is a treat!

Yelp
Arrived downtown a little too early for the Chew the Scene event and looked up yelp for a nearby bar and stumbled upon this gem. Seems very inconspicuous hole in a wall, but once you step in, you're immediately enveloped by speakeasy magical vibe. Cute little date night spot. We were greeted by every staff and were seated in less than 5 minutes. We both had old fashioned and their blooming onions. By far the BEST old fashioned we've had and their blooming onions is so addictive. Definitely will not the be the last time here.

Yelp
Neighborhood in East Village was an excellent pick for a casual stop on a weekday night! We walked in for a few drinks and a light snack before dinner and had a truly memorable experience. Service was amazing! Bartenders at this spot know how to make a great quality cocktail. I started with a margarita, which was well-crafted, and then got to try a unique martini riff they were experimenting with--a savory twist that really stood out. The creativity behind the drinks was impressive and added to the fun vibe of the evening. We also tried the pierogies, which had a delicate, light flavor that perfectly complemented the drinks. It was just the right bite to tide us over before dinner. This spot has a great atmosphere and is ideal for enjoying creative cocktails and light bites. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
I spent Easter 2024 weekend in San Diego, which is one of my favorite places to have a weekend getaway. There are so many options to choose from and I'm glad we decided to go to this location. The ambiance is a hipster/speakeasy style which is so up my alley. The service took a while because it was crowded and it is not a huge location, however the bartenders were hard working and friendly despite being so busy. I was so bummed they were out of the blooming onion because that is one of the main reasons why we chose this location. We ended up ordering the steak frites and pierogis which was delicious and filling! Chef cooked the meat a perfect medium! Soooo, I suppose I will just have to come back for the blooming onion! Thank you San Diego!
google avatar

Ed-man H.

Yelp
What a Find, this Speakeasy checks all the buttons! Great vibe, drinks, food, and service. The decor really hit as and the custom glasses, secret room, and the vibe. The steak Frites along with the side of bread was one of the best. Steak was cooked perfect and the sauce and fries were great too.

Yelp
Decided to try something different in downtown with my friend last week and so happy we stumbled upon this place! The vibes and ambiance were immaculate! We were able to snag the last two seats as we got there right before the dinner rush! Even though it was busy, service was fast and I wish I had gotten our waitress's name because she was amazing! Now for the star of the show, the food! The blooming onion was the main reason we wanted to dine in and it was seasoned perfectly with black garlic ranch to dip, but I am so glad we decided to order more food! My friend had the burger which was yummy but that BONE MARROW! *chefs kiss* Can't wait to come back and try other dishes!
google avatar

Rachel W.

Yelp
The restaurant itself could use some work. The food came out cold so that was a disappointment. The service was also slow and I had to ask for water 3x. However the two bars in the back make up for what lacks in the front.
google avatar

Melinda D.

Yelp
Love this place on a cold night. Delish mac n cheese, good service. Don't forget the speakeasys in the back.
google avatar

Yelp
The is a great place, you have to know it's there to find it. Walked in an really enjoyed the vibe and atmosphere. Sat down and got to business. Ordered a couple drinks off the menu, but actually was pretty hungry. First ordered the blooming onion, then Mac and cheese as starters, then ordered the STEAK FRITES - Grilled Hanger Steak, Bone Marrow Butter, Gremolata Fries, Sauce au Poivre Wow it was awesome. Then CHARRED BONE MARROW - PARSLEY, LEMON ZEST, CAPERS, SEA SALT, BRIOCHE TOAST, this was good just a tad salty and would have preferred fresh corn tortillas instead of the Brioche. Only regret didn't have enough room for dessert the THE BROOKIE SUNDAE WARM BROWNIE / CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE MIX, CREME FRAICHE GELATO TOPPED WITH SALTED CARAMEL, I will be back to try this and definitely some other things on the menu. It was a wonderful experience.
google avatar

Yelp
I stand corrected, the business mgr said no reservations and tables are first come and first served... so that being said, it' was not the place for a return visit as it was very crowded of bodies crammed at the tiny tables. The bartender was heavily booked so we patiently waited our turn to order. If you have ventured to the other Consortium Holding's other properties... they all have a theme... busy, small tables, very IG picturesque, interesting food such as the bone marrow I hard hoped to enjoy and jobs as they are hiring. The business owner said to come back earlier to snag a seat. So FYI... come early to grab a seat and no reservations unfortunately.

Yelp
At 6pm on a Friday this place was packed but we didn't wait long. Got an awesome table and people watched. Mostly younger attractive crowd but whatever. Service was really good, super friendly. Food choices were tops! Blooming onion, steak tartare, wedge salad, short ribs and sausage platter all hit just right. Plus amazing cocktails and they have several Russian River Brewery bottles including my beloved, Pliney the Elder. Great place, cool vibes, decent prices, and great portions will have us coming back often. "The only certainty is that nothing is certain." -Pliny the Elder
google avatar

Crystal K.

Yelp
Neighborhood is a great local bar in East Village! It has a speak easy vibe but a local feel. The ambiance is classy and the drinks are delicious. There is fantastic variety of beers on a constant rotation. They have had my favorite beer Pliny the Elder every time I've been there. You can also purchase bottles of Pliny the Elder to go. I haven't tried the food or the small speakeasy in the back yet, but they are both definitely on my list. The only downside is that the bar gets so busy it is hard to have a connection with the bartender. Overall great local spot!
google avatar

Leslie G.

Yelp
Another new local favorite! I had my first ever burger here and I've been back for my second ever burger. lol Though I've heard the chicken sandwich is delicious! Great staff. Love the ambiance and look forward to working my way through the menu.

Cassie N.

Yelp
Had dinner with a group of friends the other day. The food 2/5 - our group got the Bloomin' onion, Brussel sprouts, hamburger helper mac n cheese, wedge salad, the Bolognese, and the Hood burger. Overall, nothing really stood out and a lot of it did not feel cohesive in flavors. The bloomin' onion was good and came with cute scissors. My friend said the wedge salad was good, but the bleu cheese & ranch was a strange combination in flavor. The hamburger helper version of the mac n cheese also tasted confusing with the choice of chips on top. Definitely recommend the mac n cheese on its own! The Hood burger bun was a little cold in the middle but tasted okay. The Brussel sprouts were slightly too salty and VERY oily. It did have a bit of crisp to it, so that was nice. Service 5/5 - all the servers we talked to were extremely helpful & seemed like they more or less enjoy working there. Wait time for food & drinks was a little slow, but it's not terrible. Parking - we came on a weekday night so it was extremely easy! Free street parking after 6pm and there's a paid lot right across the street. I imagine this area gets a bit busier on the weekends. Overall, I wouldn't come back unless I'm in the area to grab a drink. We didn't get to check out the speakeasy, but I imagine it'd be a cute place to sit for an hour and order a cocktail.

Yelp
I was told that this place is a must when visiting SD. I also heard it super hard to get seats cause it's always packed! I went on a Tuesday night and I lucked out cause it wasn't packed and was able to get a table. I love the interior to this speakeasy. It brought me back in time to the prohibition era. I ordered the old fashioned and it was very strong but tasty! I only found out about this after I left, but apparently there is a secret room with a drink pro fixe menu that is based on what kind of alcohol you like. Bummer that I didn't realize it was a thing until after! I'll need to come back.
google avatar

Charlotte B.

Yelp
The ambience in here is everything. They don't take reservations, it's a first come first serve place, so get there early, especially on a weekend. We enjoyed all of the food that we ordered! We ordered the Bolognese, pierogies, burrata plate and brownie cookie dessert. The drinks were refreshing, but nothing new. The service was great, even though they were really busy. They checked up on us frequently and were very kind and accommodating. I had been here one other time, but only for their speakeasy. It's in downtown, so parking is hard.
google avatar

Jennifer A.

Yelp
Cute, cozy restaurant with phenomenal service. The bartenders are very attentive and know how to entertain guest while making tasty beverages. We had the wedge salad and burger and both were fab!
google avatar

Hannah K.

Yelp
everyone has always been b great - dereck and drew helped me tonight and they were fantastic. i love this spot, although it gets incredibly busy - especially after padres games. they have always helped me out and drew got me a. seat at the bar and a drink even when i didn't have a seat. they're great here and the drinks are strong and delicious
google avatar

Leticia S.

Yelp
Cute little spot! The blooming onion was average nothing out of this world, felt like it lacked some flavor. Wedge salad why a good size and yummy. Drinks are very unique here and they can specialize any drink to your liking.
google avatar

Luiza M.

Yelp
If you want to feel in the know in San Diego on cool spots to grab a drink, Neighborhood is your place. Vibes are like a speakeasy without the exclusivity of a speakeasy (and drinks are fire)
google avatar

Kate N.

Yelp
This place is a small little venue with the retro them. The food and drinks were okay - kind of reminds me of elevated dinner food. The bartender can def make any other type of drink that you prefer or want as well. No parking or valet here - you just gotta find your own parking on the street or one of those ace parking. Overall this place is cool to experience for the first time
google avatar

kaitlyn c.

Yelp
The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was so nice! I liked that when you went to the speak easy part of the restaurant, the bartender was very friendly and asked questions about what types of drinks you typically gravitate towards and makes you a customized drink based off what you tell her. Would come back and recommend to others!
google avatar

Heather B.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing!!! Came here Thursday evening for a late dinner and everything was amazing. The place has a unique ambiance, an eclectic menu, a nice music variety, and the staff is very friendly. The food tasted wonderful: Bone marrow, wedge salad with steak, brussel sprouts, carrots, and more! I believe there is also a speakeasy in back, but did not go in as we were tired and ready for bed. We will definitely be back next time we are in San Diego!

Yelp
I was looking for a spot to have dinner and was venturing out from my usual spot. I spotted an acquaintance on the way and headed here. It was already packed when we got there, but we got our names on the list for a table. We grabbed a round of beers and eventually found two seats at a bar top and canceled our table reservation. The waiters were very flexible and on top of everything. This place is a bit smaller and very popular. Plus there are those passing through for the speakeasy. Check it out you won't be disappointed.
