808 Plates Maui

Spent over $100 buying food from here, and they just keep getting worse and worse everytime I go. And even worse - they never care to make it right. I ordered multiple plates with steak and fish. We asked for rare and medium rare on all. This is what we got in every plate, well-done, unseasoned, dry steak & overcooked ahi. I regret it every time I go. They used to be very good, but now it's very hit or miss, with an 80% miss rate. I don't know why I keep trying to support locals, when this is the product being put out. Super disappointing.

Overall good meal, very sweet and friendly staff. I wanted to try a couple things so got the combo plate, the ahi was on the extra cooked side but still had good flavor, the shrimp on the other hand was 🔥. If I went back again and didn’t try another option I would go for just the shrimp plate, they were delicious.

On vacation and saw the reviews. The steaks are as described....excellent! The garlic chicken, the asian chicken were so fried they were tough to eat.....not tasty. Rice was overley sticky. Decent experience.......lady at the window was super nice!

Had dinner here after coming down from the Haleakala Mountain! It was delicious and the cashier was really pleasant. The Ahi Poke was tasty and the garlic shrimp had a little bit of sweet to it.

I ordered the combo plate of garlic shrimp and garlic ahi katsu. It was utterly divine!!!! I wish I could take this plate home on the flight. I wouldn’t miss out on this meal. My husband got the combo plate with the fukake fried poke and the ribeye and it was mouth watering. ALL the flavor and juiciness you could imagine. I 1000000000000% would recommend.

Local Hawaiian eats, friendly service. I ordered the combo wasabi glazed ahi and fried garlic shrimp. Ono.

I wish I could review more than the steak plate but the steak plate is SO GOOD I haven't even wanted to try anything else. One of the best sellers for a reason. And you might think "I can make steak at home" but I'm telling you this is a darn good steak. Rice portion and salad make this a complete meal. Perfect to grab food on the way home. Convent location. Service is friendly and efficient. Prices reasonable for how good it is.

Living in Central Maui and been coming here since Covid. The food has always been really good but like others have said the Ahi katsu has been a bit bland. I switched it up and ordered the wasabi Ahi katsu with the garlic shrimp and it was very good. My complaint is this: the oil used gives the food a unpleasant taste. Not sure what they are using but the oil tastes a bit rancid, not overly but definitely ruins the overall flavor profile. My husband lives the steak, BBQ chickens and I also lice the fried poke bowls. Hoping the team can figure out what is wrong with the oil and change or switch to a different and unflavored version.

Grabbed a Korean Chicken Plate on the way home. Good flavor but not moist. Loved the salad but would have wanted more and a little pricey for me. Friendly service. Good location if you're shopping at Target or Lowes but no seating available to eat.

We ordered the ahi katsu. The ahi could have been seasoned more as besides the outside of the fish, there wasn't really much taste. The fish itself also wasn't very tender. The portion felt smaller than what others had said in their reviews. It would have been nice if it came with other sides to provide a bit more variety to the meal.

This food was AMAZING! The woman working at the food truck was so nice. This was our first stop after landing in Maui and the ahi katsu was really crispy, juicy, and unique. Garlic shrimp was great too. Sauces were so flavorful. Definitely recommend!

Service is decently fast. They make everything to order so it'll take 15-20 minutes. You can order online ahead of time and beat the line with their QR code. This was my first time so I got the garlic ahi, the sauce was tasty. To be honest it was slightly over cooked but the sauce made up for it. It came with 3 panko crusted filets, rice and tossed salad. $20. It a little on the pricier side but Maui is expensive and it is ahi. They are located in the Kahului Lowe's parking lot. Can't miss the nicest food truck on Maui, I'll be back to try the ribeye!

I come here usually for their ahi katsu, and every once in a while I get the wasabi glaze (really good to clear your sinuses instantly with how it tingles the senses in a good way), and they always have repeat customers for a reason! Staff is super nice, and I love that they continue to help their community when they can and they offered a day for free ahi katsu, and everyone had positive things to say after their visit. Garlic fried chicken was good in that the garlic was cooked! Small portion of rice compared to other restaurants. Salad was so so. We got this to go too so didn't eat it fresh. Probably would've been better.

The food truck was easy to find in the Lowe's parking lot. After ordering I waited maybe 10 minutes. We shared the Garlic Ahi Katsu and Ribeye Combo. Hard to find good food but we found it, delicious.. Perfect amount of food for the two of us.

We had just finished our one-day Road to Hana outing so was looking for quick easy dinner place and so happy we found this place! The food was so delicious and filling after a full day of RTH adventures. Loved the half-half option so we were able to try multiple entree options! Fried poke was interesting- nicely fried, delicious sauce on top.

After a delayed connecting flight, we had no time to eat before getting on our next flight to Maui. We arrived at the Lowe's parking lot where this food truck was located. Took us some time to figure out where the food truck was parked considering how big this parking lot was. I got the ribeye steak and garlic shrimp, also comes with rice and a small salad. After surviving on pretzels, I ate the whole thing. It was delish. Great portion as well. Since there were no tables to sit at, we ate on the hood of our rental car.

Hands down the best meal we've had in Maui. We ate here twice, 1st upon arrival and 2nd time was right before leaving the island, and not because it's strategically located near the airport, but because everything we've had here was beyond perfection. The ribeye was tender and flavorful, the Korean chicken pieces were crispy on the outside with a tangy garlicky flavor, the Garlic Shrimp was similar to the Korean chicken in terms of taste, while my top two dishes here which you cannot miss out on were the Furikake Fried Poke and Wasabi Glazed Ahi Katsu. I've never had Ahi Poke prepared this way and I simply cannot rave enough about it. Think fried cubes of fresh tuna with each bite so juicy and oozing with flavor. The Wasabi Glazed Ahi Katsu were two big pieces of tuna, breaded with a crispy exterior and doused with wasabi and mayo on top. Wow! 808 Plates is the real deal if you're looking for good Hawaiian eats on the island. The price doesn't break the bank either, with a decent amount of portion for each serving. The combo allows you to choose two proteins so we went that route to try more stuff. Remember, it's a food truck stationed in the Lowe's parking lot. Don't expect tables here. You can either eat in your car or get it to-go, just don't make this the deal breaker or you will miss out, big time.

And shouts to other yelpers because I'm glad we did. We ended up ordering Korean chicken($16), Garlic Ahi katsu ($17), Ribeye ($17), and Garlic shrimp (4pc) and ribeye combo ($19) plates. Everything was cooked superbly and we ended up sharing most of the plates anyway. The kiddos were all about the food, so kudos for that! It took a little longer for the food to come out, but I'll chop that up to it being fresh and made to order vs pre-heated then just cooked. You can however make it quicker by downloading the QR code to order and pay so there is no waiting in line! I'll def come back here if I'm ever back in the area and so should you!!

Came here for lunch. It's a food truck in the Lowes parking lot. The food is excellent! It was just the right portion to fill us up. We shared the combo and were very satisfied. I highly recommend!!!!! My 14 year old got the furikake fried poke and liked it a lot. The service was great and the island reggae playing had people dancing in the parking lot.

Been eating here for a few years now. I moved away from Hawaii but always stop by here when I'm back visiting. The rib eye plate is my favorite and I don't know what dressing they put on their salad but it is so ono! Pricing has increased over time which is anticipated with inflation but the food is worth it to me and aunty inside is always pleasant to deal with & filled with lots of aloha. Will be back!

We stayed in Maui for a week. Explored the "best food" of the island but we only ate twice at one place once. The fried ahi is to die for.

It was late in the afternoon when we landed in Maui. We were craving Hawaiian food and found this place! It definitely hit the spot! I got the combo plate - my protein was katsu teriyaki. It was tender and moist. It was good. I would've liked more teriyaki sauce.

This was and still is the BESTEST food truck in Maui!!! Istay in Kaanapali and drove to town just for 808 plates. Mahalo Leo!!

The food is definitely wow wow wow! We're here on Maui for spring break with the kids, and looking for a good place for plate lunch. I looked on Yelp for plate lunches near me, and this place popped up. The menu looked so ono! We ordered the furikake fried poke, garlic, shrimp, and ahi katsu. All plates come with two scoops rice, and a salad along with the protein. Once you order it takes about 10 minutes as a cook it fresh. The food tasted very fresh, was hot, and full of flavor. The garlic shrimp was very garlicky and all the flavors were on point. All the plates are $17, they also offer poke and drinks. We ate the food in our car, but we didn't mind because it was so good. Definitely recommend!

We love coming here as the food taste, quality, and promptness is always on point and consistent. My fave is the combo plates Garlic Ahi and either Steak or Garlic Chicken, but all options are bomb!

This place is the definition of a hidden gem. Pulled into the Lowe's parking lot where it is located while on the road to a nearby beach and was pleasantly surprised. My wife and I had two orders of the Garlic Ahi Katsu and have been daydreaming about it since. The fish had a steak like texture and mouth watering crunch. The garlic sauce dripping onto the rice the Katsu was served on was a perfect touch. If they had a few more varied sides this place would be an instant five stars, but still worth the stop!

This is such a great find, especially finding it almost immediately after landing in Maui. There wasn't a line when we visited, but there is an option to scan a QR code to order & pay if the line happens to be long or you're just feeling introverted (lol) Anyway, this business has great food & great service! My husband & I got 2 combo plates - a ribeye & Korean chicken combo & a garlic ahi katsu & garlic shrimp. Each plate lunch comes with white rice & salad. We're also appreciative that the drinks were stored in an ice cooler, especially since it was a hot afternoon. The food was so good that we devoured it (lol) Since this is a food truck that shares a parking lot with Lowe's are currently no tables & chairs set up nearby. 3.5 stars for the good tasting food, nicely cooked and prepared. We really liked the shrimp, soft and fresh. It would be better if the beef has less fat and the salad has less source.

This was the best food I have ever had from a food truck and even rivals food that I have had at 5 star restaurants. For such amazing food it was cooked surprisingly fast and the service was friendly, helpful and efficient. The truck itself is new and clean and looks amazing. One of my highlights on my trip to Maui.

808 Plates was one of the few places still opened past 8 pm. I'm glad we found them. I ordered the steak and fried ahi katsu combo plate and it was delicious. Portions were generous. Great service. Only one other car besides us.

After a long travel of the Road to Hana, Marvin and I were beat, starving and ready to sleep. It was already pretty late and we were just trying to find something quick to grab before heading back to the hotel. A little bit confusing because this food truck is in the back of a Lowe's parking lot and we almost missed it, so keep on the lookout! All of the food on this truck is made to order, so it does take about 10-15 minutes to prepare but the short wait is worth it! I got the garlic mahi and it was absolutely phenomenal. They give you the perfect combination of rice, salad and protein. I ate the entire portion! Marvin and I enjoyed it so much that we went back one more time before we left Maui.

I had wanted to try all different food in Maui and this place was recommended. We got a combo plate of garlic shrimp and garlic ahi Katsu to go. First, the portion is huge, and the service was fast. The food was still pretty warm when we got back to the hotel about 10 minutes away. Overall the flavor is pretty rich being fried and with rice. I did feel the ahi got very tough and hard after it was coated and fried as a katsu. I also felt the sauces compete with the flavor and would have been better with a lighter sauce such as citrus based to cut the oil. It was a good place to try as I saw locals getting plate dinners to go.

Just had a really good combo plate with fried poke and garlic shrimp! It came with a small green salad as well as rice. We shared it so we'll still be hungry for another meal later today. The truck is easy to find in the parking lot by Lowe's, with plenty of parking. I like the big selection of food items. They have the option of ordering ahead with the QR code I posted. Very friendly service, and quick results too.

Not sure what the negative reviews are about. The customer service was wonderful, not sure if the ordering online was unavailable, but our order was taken quickly and the lady was lovely. (I'm sorry I didn't catch her name!). We were greeted with a friendly smile and ordered garlic shrimp with spicy poke, and the garlic chicken. Both were served with mixed greens and rice. And nothing was left over. We would absolutely come again!

The food is consistently good and for fresh fish, affordable, at $16 to $20 a plate! We eat here at least 2 times a month.

The food truck is in the Lowes parking lot. We were the only ones there and it only took about 5 minutes to get our food. The plate lunches came with rice and leaf salad. My hubby got the ribeye and garlic chicken combo. Ribeye was tender but quite a bit of grisly fat. Not much seasoning. The garlic chicken was deep fried and slightly breaeded . Excellent flavor but it was fairly dry and chewy. I had the garlic shrimp. There was a slight breading on the shrimp that made it taste gritty. The woman working the truck was kind and delightfu to chat with!

Ordered the ahi garlic katsu & ribeye. Delicious, quick and generous portions served by welcoming and kind team. Must try!

Food was pretty good we all ordered a variety of the fried poke, katsu chicken, garlic shrimp and ribeye. The ribeye was the best and most flavorful but a bit more cooked than we all like (medium). The fried poke was interesting and not too overly fried but i ordered this since they ran out of the regular poke. Katsu chicken was good and i think it was chicken thigh so it wasn't dry. Garlic shrimp was fine but nothing special. All of them came with a scoop of rice and salad. I did like the dressing on the salad. Prices were around $15-20 each and everything is made to order so it was around 15minutes. Not sure it was worth the hype of this being recommended to me but it was yums! Oh but the side poke was like $6 for a tiny cup of cold fresh poke which we thought was very little for the price.

OMG..hubby and I both agreed this is our favorite place so far. It was recommended by our car rental rep so we had to try. The lady taking our order was so sweet and patient with us. It was our first time and we couldn't decide what to order. There were so many choices to choose from so we decided to try 4 combo plates. I woke up this morning craving for another plate so I'm glad we got extra. Hubby and I are both carnivores.. We usually do not eat fish but boy, did we make the mistake of not ordering more fish items. 1st plate: Ribeye/Garlic Ahi Katsu. Ribeye was soft and tender, flavor was on point. Garlic Ahi Katsu was cooked to perfection but i think it needed more sauce. 2nd plate: Wasabi Ahi Katsu/Fried Poke. Wasabi Ahi was, hands down, our favorite!!! Sauce was amazing, it really complimented the ahi and the fish was cooked to perfection! I'm going to try to convince my husband to stop by before our flight to pick up another plate. Fried poke was pretty good too! Flavor was yummy but I'd have to say, wasabi ahi flavor overpowered all the other dishes. 3rd plate: Ribeye/Garlic Chicken. Got this plate for our lunch the next day but of course we tried the chicken so we know what it tasted like fresh. Unfortunately, if i had to pick, this would be my least favorite. Chicken was a little dry. I think more sauce would have helped. 4th plate: Garlic Shrimp/Ribeye. Hubby and I don't eat shrimp so I was surprised he wanted to try it. He said the pictures looked so good so he wanted to give it a shot. He killed it so fast. In his words "shrimps were delicious and it did not disappoint!" All their plates were so good! Definitely get their Ahi plates!

Loved it!!!!! So much Its located in Lowe's parking--south/west end per my compass lol Their specials were all so good. I recommend two people getting two half/halfs: garlic fried ahi/garlic shrimps and other platter of: rib eye steak and wasabi fried ahi. 10/10 w flavors, textures, and freshnessss!

Found this food truck on Yelp, and the location kept taking me to a strange place sort of near the Lowe's parking lot. I couldn't find the truck, so gave up. As I was leaving through the other side of the Lowe's parking lot, there it was! The food truck is outstanding and worth seeking out especially if you are in central Maui. I had finished hiking around Haleakala National Park and was heading back to the western side of the island and was starving. The staff here were so friendly and recommended I go with the combo plate of wasabi ahi katsu and garlic shrimp. Both were delicious with big portions! I woofed it down whilst sitting on the curb in the parking lot. Perfection.

First time here place is fire. I have no idea how they bread their chicken but my god best breaded chicken I've ever had. Shout out to this place!

We wanted to taste local cuisine onbour last day in Maui and we found this food truck. The food (we got garlic steak and shrimp and hawaiian style teriyaki chicken and shrimp) and was so good, service was great and ambiance is your own car (they don't have benches) but i like to eat in my car anyway and parking lot is plenty. We'll definitely come back if we're back in Maui again.

Garlic shrimp was the best I've ever had! The flavor was alll throughout the shrimp with big pieces of garlic. The steak was tender! The wasabi was good as well. Would highly recommend~ also the helper was very nice! Yes it's in the Lowe's parking lot!

808 Plates was one of my priority spots to visit when we were on the island-- did not disappoint! One of the best plates we've had on the island. I recommend arriving a few hours before closing though, they sell out of certain proteins pretty quickly (ok, maybe a little disappointing (': ) At the time we visited, the truck was in the back of the Lowe's parking lot (no seating). Easy to find parking! The staff are infectiously nice, super friendly folks. Our two orders were ready with 10 mins, even with large groups ahead of us. GARLIC SHRIMP: Ridiculously juicy and tender. The shrimp was SO sweet and savory, and generously piled on. Very much worth the peely mess. Comes with white rice, greens, and mac salad (about average). My bf was very happy with his Wasabi Glazed Ahi Katsu/Garlic Shrimp split plate. Between Geste and 808, Maui really does not play around with their shrimp! Maybe some of the best shrimp I've had in my life? I'm going to be dreaming about it until I'm back on the islands...

Food was great by the time I got to eat it. But service idk man. Did a group order for four plates before heading on to our flight. We placed our order over the phone 20 minutes beforehand. Got there and was told we had to wait for the rice to cook. Like that's totally fine you'd think another 5-10 mins since we called before, except for we waited another 20 minutes for it. Got our food, and one soda as a sorry and booked it to the airport, within one minute before the flight was about to close off. Ahh I'm sure the good reviews about this place follow through when it's in the day time and you order in person. But I wouldn't have done over the phone if I knew better.

I officially understand the hype around this place the food here is GOOD. Food: loved the variety of options they had on their menu. I went with the menu favorites which was the ribeye & wasabi ahi katsu & my husband ordered the garlic chicken. The ribeye was pretty good maybe needed just a tad bit more seasoning.. however the wasabi ahi katsu was a game changer I'd definitely order this one again. The garlic chicken was also pretty fire & cooked to perfection. Love that everything is cooked fresh here & that it doesn't taste greasy or heavy. This food truck is definitely worth checking out. Service/atmosphere: service here is super friendly & the food comes out fast. Location was easy to find it was in a plaza over by target. Line wasn't long at all. Overall, great experience!

With so many food trucks all around Maui now, I either need more time or a bigger stomach to hit all the ones I want to try or return to. Having missed out the last time I was in Maui, I made it a point to swing by 808 Plates during my most recent visit. It was nice having it separate from all the other food trucks by Costco and is located by Lowe's. Because of this, there seemed to be more locals picking up lunch here than some of the other trucks, bringing me back to the days of lunchwagons. What I really wanted to try here was the ahi katsu which was a bit drier than I would've liked. Three pieces over some greens and with two scoops of rice, the carbs would make sure you don't leave hungry. However, by the time you finish your protein, you will most likely have half to a full scoop of rice left. The house made aioli drizzled on the fish was delicious and would recommend they also drizzle some over the salad underneath that was plain.
