One of the coolest building in Taiwan. Go on sunset boat cruise for better views from water. And just steps away from 85 Sky Tower is Don Burrito best Mexican we’ve had in Taiwan.

This is an 85 level sky tower with a viewing deck on the 74th Floor. It is also a hotel and has a few shops, a bar and a restaurant. We stayed here and the room had an amazing view of the harbour (or city if you choose that option). Our room was on level 55. The room was spacious with a big marble bathroom all the necessary amenities. We made use of the gym and pool as well. You need a cap to use the pool Staff weren’t overly friendly, at check in they were efficient and ‘routine’. The staff helping to get cabs were the best. We appreciate our late check out of 1pm. The area is a short walk to the light rail which gets you to pier 2 easily. Walking distance to a station as well.

Impressive views over the city. For an observation deck, it would have been nice to have outside space. Windows bit dirty for taking proper photos. We'll worth the visit though when visiting the town as it gives you a good overview of the city.

The building was designed by C.Y Lee which has an unusual 'prong' design with two separate 39-floor sections, which merge into a single central tower rising to a spire. This unique design leaves a substantial space below the central part of the tower which was inspired by the first character of the city's name (高). Most observation windows in the building offers views over the Kaohsiung City, the Love River and the Kaohsiung Harbour.

250nt/person to go up with the fast elevator that goes as fast as 600m per minute and the view at night is really nice though the windows are very dirty and the usual hazy skyline of Kaohsiung makes the visibility somewhat limited. they have a nice cafe serving food, hot and cold beverages including local Kaohsiung beer. on a Sunday evening there was hardly ten people.

One of the best places you could imagine to watch the sunset, the building architecture is simply beautiful and the view amazing, going upstairs from the first floor took very little time because of the high speed elevator,(you should take a video once you get inside the elevator and before start going upstairs) , the best time to go is around 5pm so you can see the city during daytime and minutes later the night view, there are some volunteers whom are willing to explain to you about the city and the history of the places, they had an excellent english speaking person too, he was very kind and dedicated to what he do, the tickets are not as expensive as going to the Taipei 101, is around NTD 250 per person, but you also get a discount of of you bring your student ID card.

160NT per person, and less if you show a student discount. Excellent 360 degree views of Kaoshiung. The observation deck wraps around the entire floor of the Tuntex Sky Tower. Ride the super fast elevator up to the 75th floor, then walk down to the 74th floor where the viewing room is. Elevator speeds reach 10 Meters / second. You can feel your ears pop as the mood lights change with the ride up. Downside - Some of the windows are covered in a clear film with little drawings on them to represent the city below. Tip for the tower - Either replace the film or peel it off completley. It is starting to bubble and wrinkle and causes the view below to appear murky and foggy. Can’t take photos out side those windows because the bubbles and wrinkles get in the way. Telescopes are available to use around all corners of the tower. Fun to put in a couple coins and play i-spy games. No open air access. Totally enclosed. There is a restaurant at the top that serves coffee and Haagen Dazs ice cream. Also a souvenir shop with tons of trinkets. A small arcade section including foosball. And galleries that include large-scale photos of the view below, butterfly exhibition and a Hello Kitty section.

This accommodation is not so bad and also super convenient spot which is located in city center near subway. Actually, this building is called 85 sky tower contains variety of lodgings and we stayed one of them called "happy avenue". All of facilities are pretty fine but the cleanness is needed to improve. BTW the price is so reasonable in these high value place; besides, self-service check in is so easy to do.

Yelp
It's the tallest skyscraper in Kaohsiung, and was the tallest in Taiwan until the completion of Taipei 101.

Yelp
This hotel was probably the nicest one I stayed at during my whole trip to Taiwan. It's positioned on top of a mall as well, so it's a shoppers paradise. I didn't actually take a look at the mall, because that is NOT something I came to Taiwan for (+ I abhor shopping, unless for food), but I can imagine it being just as upscale as this large and in charge fancy hotel. I got a room on the 66th floor and the view was 100% breathtaking! I have a feeling regardless of the floor you get, they all start on floor 40, you will have a terrific view! The rooms are spacious and I'm told the bathrooms are all situated differently (& my friend got an electronic toilet lol), but mine was decked out was a standing shower, full bath, private toilet room and tons of open space... For gymnastics? I don't know... What else do you do in the bathroom? The reason I took a star off is because the bed was as hard as a rock! In face, I felt like I was sleeping on a pile of bricks... And the hallway light REALLY CONFUSED ME as I couldn't figure out for the life of me how to turn it off, without having to pull the key out of the power switch (I wanted to keep the AC on). I was told the following morning, at check out, that the control is ON THE PHONE. Ummmmm WTF? Any who, moving on: the gym is perfection, minus it being a little hot and spotty with WiFi, but it allowed me to get my sweat on, sure going outside could do that easily, but I wanted a different kind of sweat! Another aspect of this hotel that was pretty great, the breakfast buffet! Eggs, to pork buns, to wheat gluten, to cereal, to... Really, whatever you want!! So eat up and take snacks for later! I had a feeling this hotel was going to be nice so I'm glad it lived up to my expectations!

Yelp
I was exhausted when I arrived at this hotel, so I just crashed and slept until the next morning. Therefore, I don't have much to say except that the bed was comfy and bedbug free. Although this is the tallest 5 star hotel in Taiwan, the view isn't impressive at all because it is a view of a rather industrial part of town. There isn't an impressive skyline to admire in Kaohsiung. The restaurant that serves the hotel breakfast is decent. There's smoked salmon, a few steamed dim sum dishes such as siu mai, ha gow, congee, croissant, and bread. It's nothing to write home about but it's decent and you do get a good view of the city from the restaurant while you eat. It is self-service as you get your own food and drinks buffet style. It is clean and classy. The hotel is very conveniently located near a shopping center and many tiny local eateries. There is also a park nearby. It is in a safe part of town. Also, it is impossible to get lost if you stay at this hotel because the building is so tall. I got lost wandering about town looking for a tasty meal in a local eatery but all I had to do was to look up and the hotel will be very visible as it is about 4 times taller than the next tallest building in town. If you get a good price, then stay here, but if it is super expensive, then there are better values as it was decent, but a rather forgettable experience.

Yelp
Set dinner at the Palace Club. Presentation was good. Small portions. Great view of Kaohsiung city and the harbor.

Yelp
After getting off the high speed rail from Taipei, took cab to our hotel here at 85 Sky Tower. Seems to be the tallest building here in Kaohsiung. Pretty fancy lobby. The front desk is on the 39 floor! Awesome. Our room was on the 51st floor, 5109 to be exact. With a view to the harbor. Awesome view. The next seven days here were quite good. This hotel is considered 5 star for local standards. And it actually is quite nice and just about the most fancy hotel in the city. But not necessarily 5 star to American standards. But this note is only for you snotty westerners! Ha ha. The only downer is that the bed was hard. Seriously, maybe a half inch of cushion. Maybe. And the pillow, well, I've been more comfortable with potato sacks. Pillow is as flat as the American flatlands. But, truth be told, I woke up every morning feeling great. Well rested. So there. Also, you need to put your room key in slot by door to activate room lights and ac. AND, the room light switches are all on the telephone. If you need an iron, none in room. But one call to housekeeping and you'll have one in under ten minutes. The breakfast buffet, well, DELISH!!! And no matter where you sat in the restaurant, an incredible view of the city or harbor. There's food everywhere! There's all kinds of local fare plus some western style food. Seriously, I didn't come all the way to Taiwan to eat western food. Mmm mmm mmm. The they have this great lounge on the 39th floor, aptly named Sky Lounge. Great views again. Live music. Taiwanese singer belting out old Sinatra tunes. Awesome. Entire hotel staff was so polite and courteous. Even though them not perfect fluent in english and us not at all in Taiwanese, they were the best. And for the quality of the hotel, the price per night was under $100!!! There's some sort of mall or other business' below the 39th floor. But we didn't have time to check out, there was an entire city to get to see and food to eat. So, really, not 5 stars because of funky bed and pillow. All else, thumbs up.

Yelp
the taiwanese restaurant on the 38th floor is the best keep secret! the fried oysters are the best. My parents have lived in kaohsiung for over 30 years and this restaurant is on the top list of where they bring out of town guests. you get a nice view of the harbour at sunset too. this restaurant is never crowded so no reservations necessary.
