The cakes are delicious, the drinks taste great, and the shop itself is very beautiful. However, the service today was disappointing. I ordered four milk tea drinks, two of them with added whipped cream. When the staff finished making the third drink, I noticed that the whipped cream was missing, so I reminded them. For the fourth drink, the whipped cream was missing again, so I went to inform the staff politely. The staff then showed an unpleasant attitude and said something like, “This cup already has milk foam, why do you still want whipped cream?” I was confused and had to explain that I had paid extra for whipped cream and asked them to check the receipt. The food and drinks are great, but I really hope the service attitude can be improved in the future.

Did an online order here for my birthday cake and we got a full Mango Creme Brulee cake. Nothing about it tastes like mango nor creme brulee. I checked the receipt and they added coconut custard in the cake (with additional fee) without asking us! The whole cake tastes like coconut, might as well call it coconut cake. And it’s way too sweet! They use artificial flavoring. The mangoes on top are unripe and hard. Not worth it for 35+ dollars.

Today, I ordered black lemon tea, and the menu image included fresh sliced lemon. However, I received it without the sliced lemon, so I asked why. They told me that they only serve lemon juice and do not provide lemon slices. This is completely different from the menu image. FAFO!

Great pastries, but a few things to note. The bread, pastries, and food here are always delicious and fresh. However, the drinks are consistently way too sweet for my taste. Also, the seating area could use more attention—the tables are usually not cleaned and feel neglected. One important thing to know: their cakes are tasty, but many of them contain alcohol, which makes them unsuitable for kids' birthdays or children in general. Just something to keep in mind before ordering for a family event!

85 is re-opened after their refresh. Solid bakery with rotating bakery goods available. Usually they have more sweet breads than savory depending on when you arrive. Their seasonal mango cream roll is so tasty. Egg tarts are tasty. Cakes are great too. Drinks are pretty good and usually only issue I have with their drinks is that the sealing machine doesn't always seal leading to spills. But the staff is very nice and will redo the drink. Great place for a quick snack. Parking is always plentiful.

I always find something yummy here! And they are having a mango fest right now with lots of tasty mango options. The young man cashiering (Connor?) was super nice and helpful. It is weird that they have only 2 tables and 8 chairs in a large open space. Like are they wanting to have a dance floor or something?

One of many locations of the deliciously famous 85c. I was in the area and was craving 85c! I've never been to this location but was surprised how big this place was and how parking is such a delight! I love 85c so I was happy that I was able to find all my favorites here with ease. You can order through the app, kiosks and with a live cashier. Making service 10/10. The ambiance is pretty chill, with seating available and plenty of room to not feel crowded. My recommendation: Brioche Jalepeno cheese bread White loaf Egg tart Taro bread Any of the sea salt series drinks Make sure you download the app for points!

My first encounter with 85 was in Shanghai and fell in love with it. Had to have their Ichido bread and wide choices of baked goods. So naturally I was super excited to see this. I was quite disappointed by the lack of variety. And no Ichido bread. Please add Ichido bread to your spread.....

Stopped in for boba and dessert after dinner maybe a couple hours before closing so pickings were slim. The store was still busy with people picking up cakes and drinks for the evening. I was mostly looking to see what mooncakes they had available, but only a couple items were available. I did get to pick up a couple dessert breads, which easily turned into breakfast the next day.

Terrible customer service I ordered a cake online and when I went there, the manager came up to me and said we don't take orders and I showed them the receipt from 85° bakeries and the process my credit card and I told her well then how is this? My fault when the website allowed me to order a cake from your location and I paid it a week ago and if your location didn't take it why didn't 85° refund my Cake payment back to me and at the end of the day they were making a huge scene and acting as if I did something so wrong when all they could've said is it seems like it was a corporate issue on their end and either we could refund you the money And at the end of the day I got the cake but it was such a saddening experience especially 85° as a corporate company and after that, I really don't feel comfortable visiting or ordering any cakes because I felt like they framed me as if I was such a horrible person I just hope that customer service is worked on especially when speaking with customers and I get it you have a lot of customers, but at the same time, you should be more respectful when you talk to customers, and at the end of the day, it was corporate's fault.

I was craving a mango cake slice, and my husband recommended 85°C, especially since he mentioned their desserts aren't overly sweet. I'm not usually a fan of desserts that are too sugary, so I decided to give it a try. I visited their Mira Mesa location, though I know they have other branches too. Surprisingly, there was a line even on a weekday, but it moved quickly. I had my eye on the mango panna cotta, but unfortunately, the person ahead of me grabbed the last one! I settled for the mango cake slice instead, and the checkout process was quick and smooth. It took a little time to find a seat, but once we were settled, I couldn't wait to dig in. The cake slice looked beautiful, and the flavor was wonderfully authentic. I really appreciated that the dessert wasn't overly sweet, and the portion size was perfect - not too big, so I didn't feel like I overate. For the price, it was a great value. They also have a wide selection of savory breads, and I'm looking forward to coming back to try those next time!

I love coming here for sweet and savory pastries. They always have a wide selection and it's always tasted good and fresh. They have a parking lot and the bakery is very spacious and cute. They have indoor and outdoor seating. When you walk in you grab a tray and put whatever pastries you want from the shelves on it then wait in line to checkout. You can also order cold desserts and drinks from the cashier. I grabbed a variety of sweet pastries and one savory one. I also ordered a Thai Tea with boba. All the pastries were delicious. I tried a bacon and cheese one for the first time and it was garlicky and yummy. The Thai Tea and boba I got with 50% sugar and no ice. It was also delicious. Their boba is chewy and reminded me of grass jelly flavor.

Yea. They are back to standard after the refresh. This period helped me to rediscover their Balboa location. Which is convenient when I am in the area. Chocolate Chip Bowl, Mango berry and Berry berry among my favorites. There are a lot more.

Whenever in the area, I always stop here and get a box of goodies. The new half moon almond cake is a hit! The Hokkaido cream bun is also delicious. We basically love anything stuffed with cream. They are busy but the people are super nice and friendly. If they don't have something in the grab and go, you can pay ahead of time and pick up later. Sometimes they have it made but just haven't taken it out and will grab from the back for you. Getting a drink can be a long wait, thankfully there is a kiosk specific to order drink so you don't have to wait in the line. Inside is always clean and bright. Worth the wait, you have to try at least once!

I love getting the bread here as it reminds me of the fresh bread I get in Taiwan! Some of my favorites are the Brioche, Taro Marble, Pineapple bun, and any of their savory items. Though it's usually crowded, the workers are very efficient so the line moves quickly. There are only a few tables to sit, as it's more of a to-go place. I knock down 2 stars for the boba quality - it starts off okay - a little hard but not terrible. After a few minutes, it hardens and becomes chewy but not in a good way. This was my second time trying their drinks since they first opened here years ago and it's been disappointing both times. In addition, when I got my drink, it didn't look like grapefruit at all, so I returned to the counter to request a fix. The barista was happy to help and got me my replacement quickly. I appreciate that they prioritized remaking my drink. I'd recommend getting their bread but not ordering boba here!

The big pastries here are so good in the bulba, drinks or outstanding cannot go wrong with this place, visiting my niece in miramesa, visiting from cross-field Tennessee, wish we had something like this. Remind my neck of the woods

This 85 location is fantastic! I was greeted by Perry with a warm smile who gave me the yummiest taro drink ever. Thank you Perry and the rest of the team at 85 for a wonderful experience.

85°C is my go to spot for Sea Salt Jasmine Green Tea--it's always the perfect balance of sweet and creamy. The employees are super kind and helpful, which makes every visit a great experience. I just wish they had more of the savory breads in stock in the mornings! The bread varies everyday though. The new renovation looks really nice, super clean and inviting. I wish there was one closer to my house, then I'd go everyday!!

* It's just another junk food establishment chain selling establishment-junk defiled by highly processed flours, seed oils, nitrates and genetically modified corn in the form of high fructose corn syrup. In my opinion, the government should place black box warning labels on their foods. Meanwhile, you can check their ingredients yourself online. * Thankfully, they are extremely clueless, disorganized and completely uncommunicative as well-- planning my wife's 50th birthday party, I ordered several different items. I ordered online, paid online, got electronic order confirmation and an order number. When I went to pick the items up several hours later, the people working there were quite perplexed. Finally, an entity referred to as the manager said they didn't have most of the items I ordered. (Note that they have my contact information and could have informed me in advance.) He just wanted to rush me out the door. No apology. No explanation. No nothing. I asked what is in the box that represented my greatly reduced order. It was several of just one of type of item. I asked him how this happened-- I had ordered several different types of items online before they even had their doors open. But no clear and logic explanation came forth. I told him I didn't want ANY items and left after being promised a refund, which I got. * Later, looking at the ingredient list online, I see that luck was with me that day, ensuring that I would not be putting harmful substances into my body. Even better, my family was spared. None of us is ever going back to 85 C, now that the letter "C" for us represents Calamitous as well as other unsavory adjectives. * Thankfully, the member restaurants of this chain are found in places with much better alternatives nearby.

Large selection of breads! Very fast service! I tried the chocolate cake for a birthday and it was very soft and chocolate! May be a good place to study if need a quiet environment but no outlets.

This is one of my happy places!!! Sometimes you just. Red a nice hot cuppa tea and a "biscuit" (read ... any of their baked goods). I stopped in today after a super tough appointment. I love that everything is fresh. The tea is hot. And the staff taking care of my order was super friendly and helpful. I asked a question about future store opening and she told me all the tea!! If you haven't yet, make sure you download the app... sometimes you get free things... :) They have some lovely 2top and 4tops if you want to sit inside. Today, I sat outside at one of the three tables. It was just what I needed to recalibrate my day. My favorite items: Caramel Milk Tea (hot) Premium Milk Bun

Staff was friendly and the coffee was good that's mainly the point of the star. But also grabbed some pastries and I was really looking forward to a chocolate croissant but I was DEEPLY DISAPPOINTED. This croissant should've came with a warning "May contain traces of chocolate, if you're lucky." I bit into it expecting a rich, flaky, chocolatey moment... and instead got a mouthful of disappointment and air. The outside looked promising, but the inside was mostly hollow, dry, and sad. The tiny speck of chocolate buried in there felt like it was hiding out of shame. Honestly, if I wanted something this empty, I'd read my ex's text messages. Do better, 85°!!

I don't usually come here that often but i came here 2 days ago and bought some goods but I noticed in one of the bread seems has a huge hole inside the bread, did i just got cheated or is that supposed to be the case? I've never seen this before thats why I want to bring it up.

No matter the time of day, this bakery is always packed. I came in on a Saturday afternoon and it was busy, there was a long line to checkout. All the bread items are prepackaged into bags, so all you have to do is grab a tray and grab the bread item of your choice. There was a large selection of sweet or savory breads and all were fully stocked. Their coffee is also really good, my favorite is the 85c coffee iced, perfectly sweet and strong at the same time. It's very loud inside as there is music, people's chatter, and the barista making coffee. So if you're sensitive to sound, just be careful. Minus 1 star since I waited almost 15 minutes for my coffee. In my opinion, there should be more than 1 barista making drinks when it's that busy.

The place wasn't as big as other stores and seemed like they had limited bread options compared to other 85C stores that I've been too. However, it seemed like they carried the essential items. The service was good, the lines moved decently, they also have dining options, but the dining area could have used some attention, as it wasn't cleaned up after customers used them, found lot of food particles on the table.

I have been to a handful of 85° Bakeries, and they have a variety of pastries to choose from. Although they had a lot of pastries available, there was no brioche bread. Boo!!! I went there specifically for that. Overall, I'd return again if I'm in the area.

The bread tends to be airy. My partner enjoyed his egg tart. The service was fast. It's just a bakery that's a grab and go line. The lunch times get packed, but the line moves faster. It's convenient & kind of Bruegger's like but with an Asian pastry mart. The feel is quick and modern.

This branch used to be great, now--not so much; service has been degrading slowly. Compared to the new Temecula branch, it's day & night difference. Here's why: At 8:00 in the morning, empty racks of bread goods are mostly empty; it's disappointing that our favorites aren't on the shelves most of the time. We had to ask when the breads are going to be ready. Repeated mistakes on "LIGHT ICE" drinks we requested--they come back with full ice multiple times, we had them re-do our drinks. Military discount: receipt comes back it wasn't honored--had them reenter charge back to our card, hassle much. It seems like there's not enough personnel working in the kitchen. They have to up their game, otherwise, something like PORTO's (whose service & goods are impeccable, by the way!) would came in and replace 85°C Mira Mesa.

usually this location is our go to and after a long day we just wanted a drink and ordered off the kiosk while we paid for our bread at the counter. meanwhile the kids working are hanging out with friends eating behind the counter instead of making our drinks... we didn't even get our receipt that we asked for. everyone that was in there that ordered AFTER us got their drinks quickly, and we waited atleast 20 minutes bc he wasn't making our drinks. i'll post the picture of the friends while he's snacking on the clock. also he made the wrong drink... just tried it. disappointing

Amazing Pastries and Coffee 10/10 Would totally recommend! And price is Affordable!Great Eats!

Many of the pastries contain cream or cheese, making them delightfully sweet. Service: The staff are very fast and friendly. Even long lines of customers move quickly. You can order drinks in advance at the kiosk. Ambiance: There are a few seats available both inside and outside the store. The seating area is well-maintained and clean. All the pastries are individually wrapped, ensuring good hygiene.

Doesn't staff appropriately... I love this place and you would think it would be a quick In-N-Out picking up the bread and just paying but there was only one person at the cash register and 20 people waiting in line.... Waited for 30 minutes and just decided to leave.

Why is there no more mall discount. Why is the DM not allowing for this? Is corporate that greedy to not treat their neighbors?!? Along side with all the price increases too that are extremely noticeable with the white labeling on top of the black labels. Service still needs help with only having one cashier in the morning. I get to max out profit but you don't want customers to skip you due to standing in line too long and going somewhere else. Food is still the same with little add ons.

Any place where you can get a good quality drink under or around $5 is a star in my eyes! My go to is the Iced Sea Salt Oolong but my fav seasonal drink here is the Strawberry De Leche. The matcha in the Strawberry Matcha could have been stronger but not bad. Usually both have fresh chopped strawberries but sadly they ran out. The breads and pastries here always hit. Can't beat the price of this place! Service was quick and friendly. The place itself was clean but could use more seating for customers. Drinks usually take long so I recommend ordering drinks at the self-serve kiosk before bread hunting. Can't wait to come back, hoping they have the fresh chopped strawberries next time!

85 degree has always been good to us. They have yummy bakery and great coffee. Their food service and ambiance is what got me. Definitely be back and a lifer.

Originally left this review on Google 12/19/23 and feel the need to post it here to potentially save anyone else the nightmare. Was eating the chocolate bun and enjoying it until I looked inside.. looked filled with literal worms and eggs?? This picture does not do it justice. Came to the reviews here to see if I was the only one who experienced this only to find the image of someone who had one filled with fungus! So grossed out and worried that I'm going to be sick. **UPDATE 01/02/24** The following day after posting this I felt extremely unwell. Felt like whatever I ate was trying to crawl out of my throat. Ended up coming down with illness after illness. High fever, stomach flu, head cold, the most ungodly cough followed by strep throat and pink eye. Genuinely never been so sick in my life. I am on day 12 and finally feeling somewhat recovered. I know that it is winter and sicknesses are at an all time high during this time of year but I am almost certain that those disgusting worms in that pastry were the cause of it. Run!!!

Friendly staff. I have been going to 85 since my college days when I would be in Irvine and wanted to pick-up something that was more upscale than the coffee and bread I would have at home. I think that this location is perfect for those are familiar with the bakery. I like the attention to detail in menu selection from this location to the mall location located about 10 miles away from this one. I like ube or purple sweet root vegetable as my go-to for a quick and filling snack or meal. The coffee is full service and serves tea too. I give this bakery a 5-star.

I come here often, the one true question I have is why do they have that old Asian lady working by herself in the morning who is slow and barely speaks English ? Doesn't make sense...get it together bro. They might be trying to stress her out on purpose.

This is a cake review for March 8 pick up. Ordered the Classic Tiramisu 8" online for pick up in several days. They did recommend to put time of pick up anywhere after 10:30am is best for them. I put 11:00am. 5 stars for Experience ordering online: easy to navigate and execute an order paying online. 5 stars for Quick pick up: Not having to wait in the long line, but can walk up to the counter and ask for the cake because it was already paid. Bring your order number. 5 stars for Interaction with employee: customer response time answering phone and directing me to the front counter was fast. 5 stars for Cake freshness: cakes ordered online are not placed in the glass display casing you see along with individual cake slice desserts. Those are for customers who come into the store. They do have cakes there too, but ordering online guarantees you will have the cake you want. Otherwise the display is for first come first serve customers. 5 stars for Package design and what it includes: the box has a convenient handle at the top, easy for transporting to your destination. Design of box is attractive and thought out. It includes a clear plastic sealed disposable small black cakeknife. If you specify online that it is for a birthday, they carefully tape a clear packaged small chocolate birthday signage to the outside of box. Then you can place it anywhere you choose. (Photo below). 4 stars for their version of tiramisu: very soft, light texture on the tongue, not too sweet, just right in sweetness. I would say this texture of cake is similar to a familiar asian chiffon style as far as consistency (very light) and being less sweet. The cake itself is not wet and drench because no liqueur added. The only item missing is the coffee liqueur or rum that I wish was a part of the ingredients. 4 stars for cake design presentation: this bakery is a chain, one of many locations, therefore all the locations have uniform design for their tiramisu. I think the rectangle shape is good, but the diamond shaped white powdered sugar design looks tacky. I wish it was a more classic simple design. Definitely other cakes they have look more attractive than this one. It was for a birthday and their small chocolate signage font and images of balloon looks cheap and does not flow with the theme of 85c Bakery style. But it is the only item they can include for you as a birthday signage on the cake.

Just came in to get a slice of cake. I asked for a spoon but they were too lazy to get one for me so they said they're out of them. I sent my wife to get one once we sat down to eat and surprisingly they found some when we asked another person for it. The tiramisu cake tasted bland. Take your money somewhere else; they obviously don't care for their customers.

To the girl who was on her phone consistently during a rush, please have some decency and clock out because you are not helping anyone and not doing your job. Props to the other workers who were busting their butts off for her.

August Stop 3 & 6 Usually get their breads, but came after dinner so not super hungry. The selection of bread around 7 PM was fairly disappointing. Instead got the special of the month: strawberry mango smoothie ($2 off coupon on the app)! Homie got the mango creamsicle. Both were sweet but the strawberry mango was much sweeter. Tasted like the mango creamsicle smoothie but with globs of strawberry jam. Be sure to prepare your taste buds. Still was nice to sip and sit in the AC on a warm day. Parking is pretty good since it is in a big plaza. Be sure to stop by before dinner to get a better bread selection!

I love the 85 degrees chain, and the Mira Mesa locations is one of my go-to's when I'm in the area. The bread is always fresh and ready. They've made some changes so now there's no need for tongs since all of the bread is pre-wrapped. There's always a good variety of breads to choose from at this location. I find that there's more than some other ones in SD. The most recent times I've stopped by, it's been very packed. Expect a decent line, but the workers are fairly fast. The only time I've had issues has been with ordering online. Once, I made a drink order and it wasn't correct. Another time, we ordered a strawberry cake but received a mango cake. Both times I should've double checked the orders before leaving, but it's not too big of a deal. I definitely recommend stopping by for some bread and great tea if you're nearby.

Really, really long wait time for just picking up some pastries. The self serve machines are out of order. A cash register is out of order. These poor workers are busting their butts. Meanwhile, the manager just walks around sipping on a milk tea. Not jumping in to help the employees. Great customer service. Great selection. It's sadly the management that needs to be tweaked. Hope to come back to update with an improvement on management.

Though it's a smaller location, this spot has a great selection of breads. Make sure to come earlier in the day or they may be out of some options, though! The drinks here are also so refreshing and I love the fact calories are listed on EVERYTHING.

I'm a fan of 85° bakery! Been to their first locations in Irvine and glad many are down in San Diego, they just need one in North County so I don't have to drive that far down!! I always get the same things. The milk pudding bread is amazing. It's consistent and basically soft bread with vanilla custard inside. The custard is better than paris baguette. I don't venture too far off, but sometimes get brioche or the marble toro. And a must is their boba milk tea, add sea salt cream. That cream is delicious! Their sea salt coffee is delicious too. Long lines and super busy on a Saturday!

I stopped by before work to grab a caffeinated drink and ordered a sea salt oolong tea. It was prepared quickly, which I appreciated. However, on my way to work, I took a sip and realized I had been given a sea salt coffee instead. Since I didn't have time to return to the store, I called to inform the staff of the mix-up, not to request a refund, but to give the barista the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, the person who answered the phone responded with a dismissive "oh okay" and "have a good one," without offering any apology or acknowledgment of the mistake. In hindsight, I regret not asking for a refund, as the response I received was disappointing and reflected poor customer service.

My go-to for affordable birthday cakes. The pastries have gotten a lot smaller over the years, however. Still a fan of their drinks though!

This is a great 85C bakery. It's very spacious inside and there's always plenty of parking. I've gotten pastries, whole cakes, and drinks here. Everything is great every time. The pastries are usually well stocked and the prices are fair. They all taste good from sweet to savory. Although the checkout line may seem long at times, it usually goes by quick. Everyone is friendly too.

This place never fails to put a smile on my face, especially when I take a big bite out of one of their yummy pastries! My all-time favorite is the seasalt croissant! When I miss my mom, I come here to buy this treat because it was her absolute favorite when she was still with us. Eating this somehow always makes me feel closer to her, like she's here to enjoy it with me. I hope 85 Degrees never stops making this! I'm so thankful to have such a great Asian bakery within walking distance from my house! 85 Degrees, you'll always have my business as long as you continue to make the seasalt croissants! All of the other pastries are also delicious, but this one holds a special place in my heart! It's nice to grab a drink to enjoy with the fresh pastries too! The cakes are also delicious, you can't go wrong with any of the selections!

As much as I love their Chocolate Croissants, my last visit was very disappointing. Usually on my way home from dropping kids off at school I stop by at least once a week between 8:45-9AM. 90% of the time they don't have Chocolate Croissants. They typically say they'll be ready in 20-30 minutes.... come on people, it's still early, how do you not have any? Last Saturday we stopped by at 11AM, they had about 7 of them. But they all looked very unappetizing, flat and smushed - normally they are big and fluffy. Regardless, I bought 2 of them. When I gave one to my son he said, no joke, "Bruh who sat on this?" I'm surprised they would actually put these out for people to buy. But like I said when I go in on weekday mornings they don't have them, so I bought 2 regardless of what they looked like. Of course, once we bit into them it reminded us of why we like them so much. I hope they will start making them earlier in the mornings and they make them look beautiful, big and fluffy.

Not blaming on the employees, manager is trying to save some money with only 2 in the front - 1 cashier and 1 making drink, must have extra people to clean more often.
