This place deserves five stars in everything. The place looks very classy, and the atmosphere is great. Service was above and beyond; Tyler made this experience great. He knows the menu and suggested the right food and super friendly as everyone else there. The food is delicious. Definitely coming here again if I'm in the area.

Being out-of-towers, we found this restaurant on a Google search and had no idea it was located in the Purdue Memorial Union until we pulled up. We had delicious food! Our favorite selection was the crab croquettes appetizer. It was to die for. If you’re in the area, it’s worth a stop. *Don’t expect anything special for a celebration. We indicated it was our anniversary, but there was no offer for any type of celebratory dessert or beverage, as we’ve experienced at other establishments in years past. Worth noting, but not a reason to not have your celebration here.

Google
Great food - was a wonderful experience for our anniversary. Cooper, our server had wonderful suggestions, and was very attentive. Everything was delicious and they even gave us a free dessert!

Johana Romero

Google
I had such a wonderful experience at 8Eleven thanks to Cooper’s outstanding service! From the moment we sat down, he was warm, attentive, and welcoming. He anticipated our needs without ever being intrusive and made excellent recommendations that really elevated our meal. Great experience for my parents first time at the restaurant!

Google
the 8Eleven bistro salad is the best thing i ever put in my mouth. actually so heavenly i can’t even describe it. plus it makes you feel skinny. if you go there you better get it 🫵. i will be coming back biweekly for this salad. kudos to whoever came up with it, i love you 🫶🫰🏼😻

Google
Braised beef was melt in your mouth fantastic and S’more’s White Russian was delicious. Service was also great.

Google
Picked this place to try out while in Lafayette. It did not disappoint. The combination of old and new architecture was great! Our food was delicious. Amaya was an amazing server! Ask for her, bubbly personality, friendly, knowledgeable. If back in Lafayette, I would definitely eat here again!

Google
We had a lovely dinner at this restaurant. From the warm welcome by Eva at the host stand to the beautifully set table, the evening started off well. Our server, Matt, was polite, attentive, and professional, he made sure we had everything we needed and checked in during the meal. We enjoyed the crab croquettes to start, followed by the hamburger, spicy shrimp pasta, and wild mushroom Bolognese all were delicious and served promptly. Dessert (the chocolate bread pudding) was good, though not my personal favorite. Great food, elegant ambiance, and good service. Thank you for a fantastic experience!

Yelp
Everything was excellent. It was wine Monday. 50% off bottles of wine up to $100. I selected a $62 Italian pinot grigio. She got a bottle of red. We started with the appetizer carrots. Very unique. Then I got the 8 Eleven salad which is a chopped salad. I asked them to not chop the bacon and drape it across the salad. I then had the ribeye. I asked them to make it Oscar style (that added $22). But they forgot the asparagus so they brought out a side of asparagus. The steak was perfectly med rare. My friend ordered the golden beet and apple salad and the diver scallops. She also ordered the crispy brussel sprouts. The food was fantastic. Everything was delicious. Service was very good and highly professional. Ambiance is excellent. It's easy to have a dinner conversation because it's not loud. Highly recommend reservations since it's a small dining room. Reservations are available on open table. But if you have a reservation for 4 or more you probably need to call the restaurant. I know open table would not let me make a reservation for 5. When I called the restaurant they gave me the reservation. My meal was $147 before I added a 25% tip. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Absolutely love the ambience and the food here, right in the heart of Purdue campus! Love their mellow playlist too! We ordered vege omelette, on the menu it mentions made in egg whites only, but we asked for full eggs and they were happy to accommodate! We also ordered their appetizer pastries which was a platter of three small but yummy pastries!

Yelp
Nice restaurant and decor. Great location at edge of Purdue U. I have had their spicy shrimp pasta and their tuna salad. Both were very good. My son had the smoked salmon blt and liked it very much. The fries are excellent. Server was polite, attentive even when busy with many tables. Food came within 10 to 15 minutes of ordering. It's a pricier restaurant but it is fairly priced for quality, flavor, ambience, service, quantity, and location.

Yelp
Stayed at the Union Hotel for Recruiting event. Was seated quickly in this elevated and modern restaurant with a large party. Food and wine was wonderful, would come back again due to proximity to campus, hotel and ambiance.

Yelp
Glad to see a place for fine dining on campus! Really wanted to like this place, but the food left a lot to be desired. The crab croquettes were really good, but sadly this is where the good ends. The braised beef was tender but needed more seasoning/braising, and the accompanying carrots were undercooked. The spicy shrimp pasta was not spicy at all and void of any flavor for that matter. The roasted wild mushrooms were absolutely the worst - oddly and insanely bitter. Had to send this one back. The chocolate bread pudding was way too dry, far from a bread pudding but more like a brownie. Service was alright. Pleasant but not very warm.

Yelp
Came here the 2nd time for my graduation dinner, and it was amazing like before (I'd say even better than the first time). The appetizers were amazing and so flavorful. I love the plating on the dishes. Entrees and desserts were also amazing. All of this in a college town? The ambiance is nice and I like the more upscale low light feel. The service was great and waiters were attentive and kind.

Yelp
This was the greatest city slicker destination in the area, out of this world ingredients, quality, presentation, menu variety, and experience showcasing the best of the dull cornfield filled flat Midwest. My four friends and I started off five years ago for brunch here. It was fantastic! Sure the prices were shocking for a small college town, they'll have to issue serious discounts during the next economic crash, but I am sure those Purdue professors, rich parents, and sport's fanatics hardly notice. Then a year later my siblings and I dropped in for my birthday. Noticed a shift towards the shady, obnoxiously high jump to costs across items, can someone explain how a wagyu burger served here is even more expensive than East End Grill's wagyu burger, how do fries cost six dollars? This crowns 8Eleven the prince of price gouging, not a crown any business wants! A burger here is five bucks more than Fleming's Prime Steakhouse burger, most exquisite and posh place I've ever visited. The rewards program doesn't really work here after signing up five years ago, just the random emails on their wine tasting nights. Despite the lovely indulgent atmosphere and easy escaping the farm aura at every turn, wow that bourbon tastin room is amazing! I still have to uncheck the stars on my review due to the multitude of negatives I've heard from friends pointing to the now overrated and silly prices experiences here. Seems obvious that 8Eleven has fallen alongside other local landfills, Greyhouse Coffee, The Lobby, and Bru Burger, who manipulate and take advantage of consumers via high prices and low results. I hope they can get their act back together because all the right pieces are here to put this bistro back on top. I do like Leaps Coffee for its decent value and quality. But there are many better options like Sacred Grounds, The Eleventh House, and Wonderlust. Thankfully McGraws Steakhouse, Bistro 501, Town & Gown Bistro, and Mountain Jacks showcase fantastic menus, top tier food quality, and especially for T&G Bistro promote some ideals in budget friendly pricing.

Yelp
I got the French onion soup and salmon. The soup was very good (and very hot slightly burned my mouth) with the cheese and onions. It had the perfect amount for savoriness. The salmon was also very good. Very crispy crust and tender. Wasn't a personal fan of the lentils, but still ate it. Service was probably the best thing about the restaurant. They were very nice, friendly, and set up the utensils for the dish that was ordered. The soup was $13 and the salmon was $32. Definitely a steep price, was it worth the cost definitely not. But the food was still very good. I would select the is place if you want to celebrate with a fancy meal. 7.0/10

Yelp
My husband and I came in tonight for another meal. I ordered the $50 Ribeye and it simply sucked. It was lacking in total seasoning. I should have taken a picture. Texas Road House has better ribeyes. Mountain Jacks gives you a 4-course ribeye meal for a better price. My husband had the chicken. That was good. I really liked the Brussels sprouts and caesar salad. Oh yeah that was very good. I'll be back again for the best key lime pie.

Yelp
This was a must on my recent trip to West Lafayette. It was tough to get a reservation during Family weekend but I lucked out after regularly checking Open Table. I originally assumed the name made reference to the address but it actually pays homage to Purdue alum Neil Armstrong and Gemini 8 and Apple 11. The interior is very classy with warm dark tones. Our server was very professional The menu boasts regional and seasonal ingredients. My dining companion, and I both had the Steak Frites cooked medium rare, and it was served as ordered. I started with the wedge salad and I am still thinking about the thick slice of bacon that topped it off. Coming from Miami I was surprised that my dining companion ordered the Keylime pie for dessert. He claimed to be a key lime pie connoisseur, and he said this one did not disappoint with the marshmallow topping. We both had the 8Eleven signature Old Fashion with vanilla syrup and black walnut bitters, it will be the standard by which I rate all future Old Fashions. When in West Lafayette a meal .. or meals.. at 8Eleven is

Yelp
This is located in the Marriott hotel on the Purdue university campus. The atmosphere is like a steakhouse but somehow it also felt like you were in a study or a library in someone's home. The service was awesome and the food was great. We had the beet and arugula salad, the beets were delicious. Then we had the scallops and steak. Both were cooked to perfection. A great place to try if you are in the area. I'm

Yelp
West Lafayette has this gem located in the Union Club Hotel at Purdue University. Came out here for my graduation, and this was the perfect place to attend, with historical meaning behind it. It's named after NASA's most popular aerospace programs Apollo 11 and Gemini 8. Command Pilot Neil Armstrong apart of this, is a Purdue alumnus which makes this restaurant epic. The food is just so delicious, and absolutely made to perfection. They take a while to prepare food, but it is so worth it the food literally melts in your mouth. I ordered the salmon and spinach, which I substituted for the lentils and onions. They give you very good portions to save room for there amazing dessert. Further, I did enjoy my scrumptious Key Lime Pie. The best I had thus far. You definitely have to try it, no disappointments! The service was good I forgot his name but he was very easy going. He recommended the salmon and I'm happy I decided to go that route. He was very amicable too! The ambiance is just right! They have the boiler bar and a very nice hotel in close proximity. Very nice upscale, with nice decor. They have a table right in front of the kitchen, that is very unique I was intrigued. It is dark in here which gives it a romantic vibe, but still good for many occasions. They have valet right in front of the Union Club Hotel, and it's free for up to two hours. They have good customer service as well and are very friendly! Overall, I would love to come back here when visiting West Lafayette. It's a perfect location with much to do and many eateries. It's downtown with lovely views.

Yelp
Soooo delicious! Service was friendly, and definitely one of the nicer dining spots on campus

Yelp
Upscale restaurant in the heart of Purdue University. The food is a little pricey but the service and taste makes up for it. Our waitress was really nice and guided us through the menu since it was our first time there. We got the steak frites, braised beef, salmon, and spicy shrimp pasta. The braised beef definitely stole the show! It was so tender and flavorful. The steak frites were also very flavorful but we ordered medium-well and it was a little closer to well done. The spicy shrimp pasta was good but wasn't really spicy. It was kind of dark in the restaurant but I guess that's standard for nice places. Overall a really good place if you're looking for a fancy meal!

Yelp
The food was good, the service was exceptional, and the free parking near the restaurant was a big plus. It was a great location near the Purdue campus. Also, it was one of the better meals we've had in west Lafayette.
google avatar

Yelp
We were a little skeptic being that this is on the student center at Purdue, but the culinary staff was amazing. We had a large party of about 10 with no food unturned. The food was amazing, drinks were amazing, wine list was awesome. The food came and when they were able to accommodate with the 24 hour notice. We made reservations which I highly recommend especially if it it's a busy busy weekend. This is in the student center at Purdue and it is amazing and worth a try. Overall, the bistro was eye-opening, amazing, and a culinary delight for us. I recommend recommend this place for anyone who's visiting Purdue area.

Yelp
Chic place! The food was very good! I ordered the room service for one night that included the Wagu Burger and bread pudding. I had breakfast in the sit down restaurant area and ordered the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich with a ginger sunrise juice. Lovely wait staff and ambiance.

Yelp
Was okay, but there are better places in Lafayette/West Lafayette for the price. I can't complain about the food, service, or atmosphere. I just wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

Rebecca S.

Yelp
The shrimp cocktail appetizer wasn't an appetizer-way too much, 5 huge tough shrimp. The autumn salad was very good. The waitress suggested a side of Brussels sprouts, again way too much. Wish we hadn't accepted her suggestion. Ambiance is okay. If the restaurant is full it's very difficult to hear table mates. All in all, nothing special.
google avatar

J B.

Yelp
Oysters . They don't clean them well or shuck them properly. For a "fine" dining experience....maybe clean the oyster... I had dark black "sand/dirt" after touching one. My cloth napkin was so dirty from wiping my fingers from picking up an oyster. Then the oyster needed to be cut off from adductor shell. Ugh No natural brine left. This has happened every time I have dined here this past year. Not worth the money if they don't do it right.
google avatar

Joseph D.

Yelp
Stopped in for a business lunch and had the Burger. Absolutely fantastic. Apparently they have their own farm and the wagyu beef comes from there. If you're in the neighborhood you ah e to try it. The daytime bartender is a rock star. She's taken care of me several times and the service is always spot on. I'm sorry I do t remember her name.
google avatar

Bart C.

Yelp
One of the best places for a nice meal near Purdue. We've been here many times over the past few years and enjoy both their breakfast/brunch and lunch/dinner. For brunch be sure to try their healthy juice drinks. Definitely worth it.

Paul M.

Yelp
Purée potatoes were tasteless Salmon was dry Bread pudding - burnt Not the best of experiences for a very quiet evening

Alex K.

Yelp
Great food, service, and ambience. This is a wonderful restaurant for a special occasion. The seating allows for easy conversation as the tables and booths are well spaced. The food is imaginative and the restaurant offers a lot of choice. The wait staff and chef provided a very personal and warm experience. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Yelp
This is your typical fancy breakfast - expensive and little food portions but it was very great, loved the decor, service was great, and it is really nice it's attached to the hotel & Purdue campus student Union. They do take care of your parking if you park in the garage across the street so bring your ticket! My husband said it was the best bacon he's ever had but it was 1 slice for $6, which was the only downside & they were out of oysters!
google avatar

Daniela N.

Yelp
Took my family there last summer while they were visiting. As in the past instances, the visit was outstanding. The crab coquettes are marvelous. You wont regret it.

Yelp
Visited this restaurant during a stay at the hotel where it's located and was stunned by the food and service. Our server Matt was super knowledgeable and friendly and so were back servers and hostess. Price point is on the higher side but pretty on point for the quality. I've learned that a Seasonal/changing menu is often a great sign food quality-wise and this place nailed it. I'm still kinda thinking of the fall salad we shared. Great location and vibe too. For sure a special occasion place but we will be back!

Daley B.

Yelp
8Eleven is a great place to celebrate any occasion. The food is delicious and mouth-watering. The service is impeccable as well. The lighting is a bit dark, but I think it is meant to be that way.

Yelp
First time trying this newish spot in town. Placed an order online for pick-up. The place was bustling on a Saturday night. Loved the ambience - not too noisy, mood lighting, decor is gorgeous! The bar and restaurant area are separate. There is also a place to to grab coffee/snacks if that's all you're in the mood for. We tried the following from their dinner menu: 1) Burrata Cheese with apricot mostarda, truffle honey, marcona almond, grilled rustic bread. The combination of the cheese + apricot is delicious! 2) Shoestring fries 3) Wild Mushroom Bolognese - I really enjoyed this dish. Not usually one to go for pasta, but this was definitely worth it. Very flavourful. 4) Mille feuille - very tasty. The pastry was a little drier than what I'm used to, but I'd still recommend it. Portions are good. We shared the above between two people. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because there aren't a lot (if at all any) vegetarian or vegan options on the menu, except for some salad and side items.
google avatar

Beau B.

Yelp
As I begin this, I want to first state, the service was wonderful. We had excellent servers and the staff was so friendly. The reason I'm giving this 1-star was because my wife and I just paid for steaks that were tiny, had little to no seasoning and the side was nothing more than French fries we could have had at Triple X or McDonald's for a dollar. I was so embarrassed for them that I didn't even say anything. It was just bad. The bill came to almost $150, but this was a $30 meal at most. I hope no one else orders the Steak Frit.
google avatar

Vanessa I.

Yelp
Okay. This is my favorite place in all of Lafayette. Really high quality, delicious food. And the Ambiance is wonderful. Things I love: the baked oysters, the tuna tartar, all of their mocktails, their scallops were delicious, wedge salad is wonderful, literally everything on the menu. I loved the chicken dish as well. Can't recommend enough!
google avatar

Kristi S.

Yelp
First class food, service and ambiance. Being a Purdue Graduate, it's nice to have a classy restaurant on campus to go to have a nice meal.
google avatar

Bobby B.

Yelp
I don't know why they keep the dining room so cold. My sandwich was fine this time but the fries were overcooked, a few even burned. You'd think if they only offer one option for a lunch side dish they would cook it properly. My sister is allergic to eggs and when she asked if her sandwich had mayo on it, the waitress only said "no" without bothering to mention it had aioli, which is just fancy mayo. In fairness, whoever wrote the menu didn't bother to mention it either. Very disappointing after my two previous good experiences.
google avatar

Yelp
Foods are not very appealing. Description on the menu is very insufficient to decide. Environment is great. Good service. I am not sure I'll go there again

Yelp
Booked the Igloo on the patio and had a wonderful time! Had kind of a rough start with the bar service prior to getting seated, but service was excellent for dinner, had the right amount of interaction and kept an eye on us. Ordered the Burrata, Spicy Tuna Bruschetta and Cocktail Shrimp as appetizers, everything was great. Will say that a couple of our group were hesitant about the Tuna because of the "Spicy" label, was very flavorful but not with heat so was enjoyed by everyone. Main dishes were Steak Frites, Truffled Bucatini, Golden Beets and Apple Salad with Crispy Brussels side. Everyone had a different level of doneness on the steak, they were all cooked correctly. All dishes were thoroughly enjoyed, zero complaints. Would definitely recommend the igloo for groups of 4-6, nicely decorated, but best of all it was quiet vs sitting in the main dining area. Was great evening, highly recommend for any special occasion.

Yelp
Best. Valentines. Ever. 8eleven for valentines dinner is the move! We were surprised with the 4 course tasting menu, they should have advertised this! I spent all week studying the regular menu to be wonderfully surprised by this special menu. My fiancé and I got to choose each of our 4 courses and they were all fab, here is how they went: Course 1: oysters & bruschetta Oysters were smaller than I hoped, but the vinegar sauce made up for it. I loved the burrata cheese on the bruschetta. The Prosecco paired perfectly. Taking note of the name so I can order it more often! Course 2: beet salad & lobster bisque WOW. We loved both of these options. The bisque has such a great flavor without being too rich. The beet salad was light and fresh. The Sauv Blanc was so smooth and paired perfectly with both of these. Course 3: Filet & Lamb Chops We fought over both of these, neither of us could decide which we liked more. The filet was served Oscar style with huge crab lumbs and hollandaise sauce. Literally melt in your mouth!! The lamb chops had the best glave it was sweet and tangy and added the perfect touch to the chops. We had pinot noir with these and it was wonderful! Course 4: mocha torte & profiteroles Sweeeeeet heavens!! The mocha was rich and creamy in all the right ways and the profiteroles were ice cream puffs of deliciousness. As for the wine pairings, the olivares is definitely an acquired taste. It was a little too strong for my liking. However, the carajillo was like an amazing liquor iced coffee! Overall: we had sooo much fun with this special menu. We loved the wine pairings and courses. The only wish I had was more of a description for the wines and more substance to my oysters. We can't wait to come back to try more menu options!

Yelp
Upscale place! Low portion! Good food. Great place for the date. Conveniently located!

Jennifer W.

Yelp
the atmosphere was great. we booked a table right in front of the kitchen where we could see the chefs prepare the food. The food itself was good, though a bit pricy. However, the major downside of our dining experience was the slow service. We arrived at 6:30 pm and didn't finish until ~9 pm, which was a bit of a frustration. On the bright side, the leisurely pace of the meal allow for some conversation and socializing among our party, though I can see how this might not be desirable for everyone. Overall, while the food and atmosphere were enjoyable, the slow service was a bit of a letdown. If you have plenty of time to spare and enjoy a leisurely dining experience, this could be a good spot for you, but if you're in a rush or value efficiency in your dining experience, you may want to look elsewhere.

Glenn S.

Yelp
We had dinner at the bar. The wedge salads were substandard all lettuce core and one even can out without dressing. This was our second visit in a row that failed to meet minimum expectations. The venue is not inexpensive, and food does not meet the price. Service, however is always great.
google avatar

Kacey C.

Yelp
The swankiest place in West Lafayette! We started with drinks and the burrata toast in the Boiler Up bar. My mother in law loves the Rocketman cocktail, but beware, they make them strong. For dinner, I ordered the spicy shrimp pasta and it was incredible! High quality shrimp, and I think the pasta was homemade. Dessert didn't disappoint either! My husband and in-laws loved the homemade key lime pie. Our waiter said it's a 12 hour process. I enjoyed the puffs with French vanilla ice cream and dark chocolate. It is a special occasion location for sure, due to price and ambiance. There isn't much seating so I would recommend a reservation. It's located within the Student Union/Hotel. You can park across the street in the garage and get your parking validated at the hotel front desk. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
8Eleven Modern Bistro is an upscale dining experience. We dined here on New Years Eve to celebrate our Anniversary and, of course, the end of 2022. This was our first visit but we both opted for their special New Years Eve Prix Fix menu because I love lobster and he loves lamb! Our server was knowledgeable and pleasant and told us about the guest chef in the kitchen which was a nice touch. Rarely do you get to know who is making your food! I've attached the menu and photos of each dish. We enjoyed all of them but the most notable, was the lobster. Perfectly butter poached! A whole, soft, succulent lobster tail that melted in your mouth. It was to die for! The lamb chops were also decadent and a hearty serving. Combine these two items with a caviar starter and a champagne dessert and you have a winning New Years Eve meal. The only slight disappointment was the gnocchi. The pillows were grey and the flavor was odd. I wasn't really sure what the problem was. It wasn't inedible just not as enjoyable as the other dishes. If you have a reason to celebrate then dining here is definitely a great option but our bill for two was over $300 without the tip. We will come back for our next celebratory meal, but unfortunately it won't be on our regular rotation for dining out.

Maria S.

Yelp
One of my favorite things on their menu is the burrata as an appetizer and for the main I think I like the best their braised beef. I would say all the food I tried was up to the standard. I have also tried most of their desserts and I would say wasn't impressed. The service is pretty good and the vibes are nice. Sometimes it does feel a little bit too dark. For a place that charges so much I do find it unacceptable that they make you keep your silverware in between courses
google avatar

Kecia B.

Yelp
I've been here on four different occasions (dinner and brunch) now and I must say that I'm less impressed with each visit. First, the ambiance is great. The space is cozy and beautifully designed. Second, the food. The food is good, but not omg good. Certainly not good enough value for the price that they charge for most items on the menu. Third, the service. This is what is the worst. Each time I've been I've had a different server. None have been very efficient. The kitchen is SLOW. It takes forever for your orders to come out. But it also takes forever just to get your drink order. And, while the servers have always been friendly, they aren't the best. For example, on my most recent visit, we started with two cocktails, two waters, and one coffee. She never brought the waters and we reminded her when we got our meal that we still needed water. She brought the coffee about a half an hour after it was ordered. When I asked if they validate parking she said yes, and took my parking ticket for validation; however, when I went to leave the parking garage, it had not been validated. Overall, this place is ok, but there are much better places in town to pick from with more value and better service.

Yelp
Such a lovely location on the Purdue campus! The service here is exceptional and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I enjoyed the crab cake appetizer, an old fashioned, a chicken entree, and profiteroles. Everything was perfect. I'd definitely recommend putting in a reservation before heading over.

Yelp
Celebrated dinner last night with family . Food was delicious . Great service . They definitely made our night very memorable . Every order was cooked perfectly . We will be back to celebrate more

Yelp
Very nice upscale restaurant. Nice and quiet atmosphere, Wagu hamburger was delicious and cooked perfectly paired nicely with the pommes fries. Everything else was good.

Yelp
Really fantastic modern French Bistro inspired place right in Purdue Memorial Union. Came here for a Purdue graduation and so glad we did. Place is super swank and great service from our waitress Stephanie K too. Great drink menu, I had one of the old fashions, the signature, and it was tasty. We started with Crab Croquettes, delish with just the right doneness and crunch and dripped with a tasty sauce. I had the diver scallops which Stephenie recommended I have over the Bucatini pasta, and this was a good call. Sides of fries and cream spinach, were both great but the spinach was super delish. Food, decor and service all great. Highly recommend.

Yelp
8Eleven was an 8/11 experience for us tonight. We (a party of 3) arrived without a reservation and were seated after a brief wait while they set the table. Our server, Morena, arrived quickly with a carafe of water for us and was quick to realize that the hostess presented us with dessert and drink menus, not dinner menus. She talked us through some choices in appetizers and was very knowledgeable. After giving us time to consider the options, we went with the crab croquettes. Morena brought our drinks while the kitchen worked on the appetizers and we quickly discovered that many of the entree items were not viable options for a member of our group due to her mushroom allergy. They ended up ordering our the salmon and steak frites. I, a professional bargain hunter, ordered the French onion soup and Caesar salad. Our appetizer arrived shortly after and the croquettes were delightful--I only wish they were served in 6s instead of 5s (such a terrible number for the purposes of sharing!), but that's being far too picky and I know it. I'm not entirely sure what the issue was after this, but it took quite some time for our entrees, so Morena asked if we wanted some baguette and butter. We said yes of course, because who turns down carbs like that? It then took 15 full minutes for the bread to arrive at our table. It still took another solid 6-7 minutes for the entrees after that, but I was definitely glad that our server noticed and tried to remedy the long wait when there was only a total of 4 tables seated this evening. The entree items were typical bistro-sized portions. Not giant like we are used to here in the Midwest, but not entirely too small either. 8Eleven is definitely not the place to go for a cheap meal, so a slightly larger portion for the cost wouldn't have been out of hand. However, as previously stated, I am a pro at getting the biggest bang for my buck--to do that, order the French onion soup and one of the other cheaper menu items. I promise you won't be disappointed! There is one caveat: If you're sodium sensitive then I do NOT recommend the French onion. I am a big fan of both the soup and salad I ordered. My companions said that the sauce on the salmon was not very flavorful and the fries had clearly been crispy at some point, but were somewhat soggy and "dead" by the time they reached the table. These critiques were not enough to make any of us say this meal wasn't tasty! I do hope that management considers modifying the acoustics, as the combination of just a few tables of people and the music was much louder than it should probably be. All-in-all, an above average experience. I would happily return for a special occasion.

This is one of the best places for dinner or lunch in the area. It is attached to Union Club Hotel a Marriott standout. Best French dip for lunch and you should try the pork chop for dinner.
