96 Winery Road Restaurant

We celebrated my wife’s 50th birthday celebration at 96 Winery Road Restaurant and it was absolutely unforgettable. Excellent food, great service, and the perfect venue for milestone celebrations. Thanks to Allan, Tash and the team- you hold a special place in our hearts.

The food was so delicious! I had an amazing time with my husband, definitely recommend for a lovely dinner date! The staff were amazing too! 10/10

Went here for Sunday lunch, my husband ordered the pork belly and I had the rib eye. Pork belly was succulent and the apples really complimented the dish. Rib eye was slightly stringy but cooked well. The sauce was a mustard kind of butter which was nice and the fries were delicious. They had Three Spades Cider which we tried and was really good as well as the Wow wow cocktail (which I requested it to be a mocktail) and it was great just a bit too sweet. Ordered the whiskey cheesecake and that was simply amazing! The restaurant is situated in a beautiful neighbourhood that’s quiet and can enjoy the mountains and greenery. It has a very homey feel and the servers are all so friendly and delightful. It is a very popular restaurant so I would highly recommend making a reservation but if you are lucky like we were the hostess will make a plan to find a table for you. Just an overall pleasant experience and a day well spent!

Food was lovely. I had the duck pie which was really good. Perhaps a bit expensive, R310 for a slice of pie and a splash of cauliflower mash. R365 for a 300g steak with no sides is also exorbitant. The service was okay. Our waitress seemed very busy. We finished our wine and needed someone to open our new bottle, but she was nowhere to be seen. When she finally arrived she said she first has to serve food to the table next to us, so more waiting while people sit with empty glasses. We also saw other people getting bread, and when we didn’t get any a long time after ordering, we asked her about it and she said it’s on its way. We got it 2 minutes before our mains came out which shows that she had forgotten. We also told her it’s my birthday and she said they were going to do something special for me but they never did - not a big issue, but just the principle of making empty promises. Overall good food, but overpriced, strange atmosphere and service can be better.

Had our year end dinner here and was amazing. The staff is really on it. Keep up the good work and food.

I love Ken Forrester wines for a long time. I knew he was one of the creators of the stunning Cape Wagyu story. It makes sense, they started this restaurant specializing in KF wines and Wagyu steaks. My steak made me speechless. Final verdict: Better than terrific!

We have just been to what used to be one of my favourite places to eat in South Africa. I have been going every year I have visited the Western Cape. The food was good but not remarkable but the service was ordinary to say the least. The previous night at Noop in Paarl I gave 650 rand tip as the service was excellent, tonight I was given a lecture on how much they expected me to tip. Outrageous, all they did was deliver the food to the table and bugger all else. What an insult. I don't normally write reviews, not sure I have ever done a review before, but feel so aggrieved about the whole experience that I have tonight. Will never go back.
