98 Acres Resort & Spa

We recently stayed at 98 Acres Resort & Spa and had a slightly mixed experience. The resort itself is large and feels more like a full-scale resort than a boutique hotel. It’s clearly very well suited to hikers and travellers looking for an active, outdoors-focused stay. Personally, we tend to prefer smaller, more intimate boutique properties, so it wasn’t quite our style. However, for guests who enjoy a bigger resort atmosphere with expansive grounds and facilities, it would be a good fit. What truly stood out was the staff. From arrival to departure, everyone was warm, kind, and genuinely eager to help. Nothing was too much trouble, and their hospitality made a real difference to our stay. A special mention must go to Indika, who looked after us at dinner. He was wonderful - funny, attentive and incredibly kind. He knew the menu inside out and gave excellent recommendations. A real personality and a credit to the hotel. The food was acceptable, especially considering the scale of the operation and the number of guests being served. While it wasn’t the highlight of our trip, everything was perfectly edible and well presented for a large resort producing high volumes. The restaurant itself is a very large space and can feel quite chilly in the evenings, so we’d recommend bringing something warm to wear at dinner. Overall, while it wasn’t quite our preferred style of property, the exceptional staff and beautiful setting will certainly appeal to those looking for a larger resort experience in Ella.

We had an absolutely amazing experience at 98 Acres Resort & Spa in Ella. The atmosphere is simply breathtaking, surrounded by stunning mountain views including Ella Rock and Little Adam’s Peak. Waking up to that scenery was truly unforgettable. The resort offers a peaceful yet vibrant environment with plenty of activities to enjoy. The food and beverages at the restaurant were excellent — every dish was well-prepared and delicious. A special thank you to Sudarshan for his humble attitude and outstanding service. He truly made our dining experience extra special. We also want to appreciate Thanuja from housekeeping for being so kind and attentive. He ensured our room was always clean, comfortable, and safe throughout our stay. A highlight of our visit was the spa experience at 98 Spa. The “98 KUSUMA” treatment was absolutely marvelous and deeply relaxing. Special thanks to Lakshan, who is highly experienced and provided exceptional hospitality and care. Overall, our stay at 98 Acres Resort & Spa was pleasant, relaxing, and memorable. We highly recommend this beautiful resort to anyone visiting Ella. We will definitely return!

98 Acres Resort & Spa in Ella is truly a dream destination for anyone seeking mountain tranquility. The resort is set amidst a lush tea plantation, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and the famous Ella Gap. The natural setting creates a peaceful and refreshing environment that feels far away from busy city life. The villas are beautifully designed using wood and natural materials, blending perfectly with the environment. Our room had a private balcony overlooking the tea fields, and the sunrise view was absolutely magical. The cool mountain air made the stay even more comfortable. The infinity pool with panoramic mountain views is one of the best features of the resort. It provides the perfect place to relax while enjoying the scenery. The spa treatments were also excellent, offering a range of relaxing therapies. The restaurant serves a mix of Sri Lankan and international cuisine, all prepared with fresh ingredients. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, always going the extra mile to ensure our comfort. We would highly recommend 98 Acres Resort & Spa for honeymooners, couples, and anyone wanting a peaceful escape surrounded by nature.

Our stay in Ella was absolutely amazing. The hotel was surrounded by breathtaking mountain views and lush greenery. Waking up to the fresh air and scenic landscape was unforgettable. The room was cozy, clean, and designed to blend with nature. The balcony view overlooking the hills was spectacular. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, always ready to assist with hiking recommendations. Breakfast was fresh and served with beautiful views. The hotel arranged transport to nearby attractions like Nine Arch Bridge and Little Adam’s Peak. This Ella hotel offers a perfect balance of comfort and nature. We truly enjoyed every moment and would highly recommend it to nature lovers.

98 Acres Resort is an exceptional place. It is the location, quality of the rooms/accommodation and the friendliness/attentiveness of staff which made the stay so enjoyable. The design of the chalets blends into the landscape. We had a 2 nights stay in a premium deluxe signature room; the room and ensuite were very spacious. We particularly liked the balcony which felt very private and had a swing bed; we loved spending time on the swing bed just admiring the views. Breakfast was very good; some items were available to self serve ie fruit and pastries, but there was a menu for main breakfast items which were cooked to order. We didn't eat in the restaurant for dinner since we chose to take a 10 mins Tuc Tuc ride into Ella to eat.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at 98 Acres Resort and Spa for two days, and it was an absolutely incredible experience. The breathtaking views, the lush surroundings, and the beautiful property are truly out of this world. However, what made our stay truly unforgettable was the outstanding hospitality of the staff. We want to give a very special thank you to our servers, Shanith and Mangala. Their service was nothing short of exceptional! They were incredibly attentive, warm, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. They made every dining experience absolute perfection. We also want to express our sincere gratitude to our room attendant, Aruna. Thanks to his top-notch care and great attention to detail, our room was always perfectly maintained, spotless, and incredibly welcoming to return to. Thank you to Shanith, Mangala, Aruna, and the entire team at 98 Acres for making our getaway so special. We highly recommend this magical resort to anyone visiting Sri Lanka and cannot wait to return!
