Ate here on the 19th dec for our xmas company dinner. Was such a disappointment on so many fronts.
We were a party of 9 and the bill was in approx 7k.
The waitress was all over the place, would take a few drinks orders and then forget to take the rest, she would arrive with some of the drinks and forget the rest and need to be reminded as well to take the others drinks orders. When drinks were finished we would order refills but only some would come. Empty drinks glasses were never cleared. After the 3rd time of asking for my whiskey glass to be refilled i eventually gave up and just had water with the empty glasses that were never cleared. No one really managed to get more than 2 or 3 drinks despite asking several times.
The food was mostly disappointing, my prawn cocktail was overcooked grilled prawns, very difficult to deshell, with a few lettuce leaves and some sauce, hardly what I was expecting. The dukkah cauliflower was also not that great. My wife did have the butternut ravioli which was quite good. Rest if the starters were ok, some had the tempura prawns from the tapas menu and some had the chicken strips.
Mains took exceptionally long to arrive, we were seated by 6.30pm and only received our mains orders at 21h40. We were informed about 40min after placing mains orders that there was no salmon and some of us needed to choose an alternative. They were a bit pushy towards selling us the angus beef which seemed even more overpriced than the rest of the menu. My risotto was not great, decent amount of prawns just lacking in flavour.
Others had steaks which were ok but not done as well as they were ordered but it was so late that everyone was just too tired to complain, send back and wait further. A few had the chicken supreme which they said was good but nothing amazing given the high price.
For desserts most ordered the ice cream as they just did not want to risk another long wait. I had the dark chocolate namelaka and one other person had the creme brulee. These were good and this was the only course I enjoyed.
The decor is great so if taking pics to share on social media is a priority then it may be great spot but we were seated outside and the smell from the harbour was also a off putting, but i do understand that this is beyond the restaurants control, it did however influence our experience given that we were seated there for 5 hours or so.
Overall, we spent approx 750-800 per head and the food was mostly mediocre, seemingly overpriced for what you got and the service was exceptionally bad. By the end if the night everyone was quite sober and ready to call it a night. Had flown down from jhb for this dinner and was also left disappointed.
