((3.5 stars)) a casual neighborhood pizza shop offering a menu pizza and a variety of other comfort eats. a divey feeling pizzeria showing its decades in age and been serving locals, accordingly. decent amount of seating like the old school benches and tables for a quick lunch or dinner. and there’s a cash machine if you need $s. the pizza, here, is not my favorite but it is a solidly good when you’re hungry bc everyone has their pizza preference and i enjoyed my slice for what is is not what it is not. the pizza is a New York style with a regular soft crust (as opposed to a firmer thinner crust), but there is a good amount of cheese blanketing the slice and a layer of sauce that’s on the sweeter side imo. the slice seems to be the preference of this area of the LES bc it was fairly busy on a lazy afternoon, post-run. the menu is fairly big almost diner-like as you can get burgers, fries, mozzarella sticks, sandwiches, wings, & more. it is a neighborhood spot as it is t open late and really is a place doing the heavy lifting of serving residents on the daily. the staff are nice and put my pizza in for extra time bc i wanted it extra hot. will definitely be back for some fries and chicken fingers!

This is a great place if you like to order pizza to-go when relaxing at Corlears park. The staff is friendly, they have seating, and a good selection of pizzas to choose from. We ordered their cheese pizza. It has a thin crust, tasty, a bit on the salty side but has a wonderful amount of cheese which is possibly why it was on the salty side. Overall, good pizza place at a decent price.

We got a quick bite today afternoon. We got good vegetarian options. Price was very nominal.

I places my order at 6.02pm my delivery showed up at 7:10pm. I ask the the delivery person i called over an hour. He told me impossible. Who waits for nearly a 1 1/2 for a cheese pie. Never again. Then you call the phone and it goes straight to voice mail. Worse service ever.

This is a neighborhood staple one of the best pizzas out of NYC 23$ pie large with pepperoni 🍕 best tasting as well

This is the place that brings you back to the flavors and aromas that you remember from childhood. Upon arrival, you're greeted with the fresh baked bread aroma and the seating area of the old school booths. As for the service always courteous and accommodating. Keep these good folks busy and grab a few slices, you won't be disappointed.

I go to this pizza spot because my partner loves the oldschool style of NY Pizza. The dough: cheese: sauce ratio is perfect and the level of crisp even more so. The slices are about $2.75. The pizzeria is zero fancy and I would never eat in if I can help it. They sell all the beverages of which Malta is a favorite.

I tried to order over the phone, and the guy who answered had a terrible attitude. I gave him my address and he kept saying "where ? where ? " so I kept having to repeat myself. Then when he finally got it he screamed at me saying they dont deliver there. I live like 3 blocks away. 0/10 do not recommend.

Whether you're looking for a nice slice of pizza or a quick meal, A-1 Pizza is your go-to spot. The pizza is tasty and they offer a huge variety of food. The following items are great: popcorn chicken, jumbo shrimp, beef patties with coco bread, Philly cheesesteak, chicken parmigiana hero, cheeseburgers and their chicken salad. You must grab a milkshake or soda float, as well. They're absolutely delicious. I've been ordering from there for over two decades and have yet to have a problem. I hardly ever eat at the shop, because it has limited space. I guess you could refer to it as a hole in the wall. It could use some renovating. Reviewers had mentioned the owner, Charlie's attitude. Yes, Charlie could be grouchy at times, BUT he's been doing this for over 30 years and in all fairness, people around here could be a little rude. People that actually know him, cut him some slack. The same workers have been there forever and the delivery guys are super humble. That should say something about him.

This place really isn't any good quality stuff... but it's a local spot for cheap burger and pizza with fries. I personally like their fried chicken but it's such a funny flavor cause it's frozen chicken breaded with some kind of sweet coating. Taste pretty good but it doesn't taste anything like Popeyes or and other fried chicken spot. Note this is prob a grease spot so if you lucky you digest alright.

Cheap and good pizza, I wanna come again! One pizza was enough for me. I got mushroom and cheese, both good! The service was very quick

Hole in the wall local pizza shop that gives you a great NY slice for reasonable price, the crust is buttery and chewy texture which makes it delicious. Philly cheese steak was also pretty good, quick no frills but polite service.

This place is ok the food is ok nothing special about eating here. So what overpriced for cheap quality food.

This place has good food it's nothing special however on Saturday went here ordered Chicken fingers with Fries then the big Fat guy asked me what soda I wanted I told him Coca cola a lady was in my way he was rude to telling me to take off my glasses I can't believe his fat ass said that to me I'm never going to this place again.

Pizza is awesome! Crust is crunchy & pizza isn't too oily. Just don't go there too late: big crazy guy that frequents local shops calls you Linda then tries to smell your hair

The owner Gino is very nice .I've been going to A-1 for years even though there are other pizza shops in the neighborhood....it's called A-1 for a reason....lol and they have the best Italian ice in my opinion .

Food is delicious. I highly recommend the extra cheese pizza. Slices are a decent size and filling.

Their RE-heated pizza is superb! The quality is consistent. Oven is kept clean. Won't find ashes to your crust. Sauce is great. Slices are heavy and way better value than the $1 slices. This is a hidden gem of the LES. A must go to pizza joint. You won't be disappointed

There stuff is way better than the store next door pizza shack. Great prices and great choices of food. It's a little small inside, so you might not get seating when the children get out of school. Gets very CROWDED There milkshakes are really good if you going to get something sweet here. Delivery time is REAL QUICK 4 stars. I would give then 5 if they had more Italian food, but they do have everything else and ITS SATISFIES :)

I have been a customer for years and MUST say that ANTONIO is AWSOME and besides the owner he is who really knows how to keep the buissness moving,he is very courteous respectful and gets the job done

This place is a neighborhood favorite, always fresh! Always a good small , quick meal including their healthy grilled chicken salads, which are my favorite, they also have Jumbo shrimp chicken salads which are the bomb and I absolutely Love their tuna sub, meatball sub chicken sandwhich, fish sandwhich Italian Ices and their Pizza is def a number one of you live nearby .. you can meet some real cool people if you dine in this comfy, humble spot.. a note to the owner though.. it is 2020 invest a teeni bit and do some remodeling you deserve it and the neighborhood deserves a nice place to sit and eat..other than that..the place gets 10 stars

3 I eat their I like it the owners Charlie's cool staff is too .. however I was onced served a piece of table wood in my pizza which disgusted me as well as the mosquitos and the tables still not being fixed

Great hole-in-the-wall pizza place. Generous slices for $2.25 with great cheese/sauce ratio and crust texture (so delicious!) Also had a chocolate milkshake which was thick and very tasty. Other customers were eating popcorn chicken and burgers, which also looked good.

A small hole in the wall but their outstanding service makes them a huge winner! Nothing special about their pizza but it's good enough. Their delivery service is awesome

This pizza shop has been around for years in the lower east side. The place is not the prettiest but the pizza is on point! It has a well balance of dough and cheese and that authentic pizza flavor. The guy there is pretty cool also. Place is good for a quick slice or delivery.

Its good pizza. not 4 or 5 stars though. I have been going here for as long as I can remember, at least 15+ years, and prefer it over pizza shack. Avoid all other food that is not pizza. The ghetto ass fried food is, as expected, ghetto as shit. The fried chicken sandwiches and burgers arent horrible, but not on a regular basis. And who would order fried shrimp or fish from this place?

A-1 pizza shop has been in my neighborhood for as long as I can remember . Always fresh pizza . Workers are cool . Place is pretty small and has three tables . The menu is pretty big for a pizza shop but everything on their menu is really good and you will leave satisfied.

I also like the fact that I can order a milk shake anytime, they serve ice cream, Italian ices.. A-1Pizza also expanded their food selections . I am glad they stood in the neighborhood. ..

My go to slice pickup / pie delivery place. The pizza is delicious. Takeout and delivery are generally quick. The interior is a dump so don't eat in. Definitely better pizza than its nearby competitor.

Despite being a complete hole in the wall, it honestly is pretty decent and I go here more than I should. It helps that we live three feet away from it and Pizza Shack is the most disgusting pizza imaginable. The guys who work there are nice, and at $2 a slice we can fill up for under $10. Not healthy by any stretch of the imagination!

They're pizza is delicious! Real tasty NYC style pizza. Don't judge this place by its' appearance ! The hot wings are fried & breaded but the extra cheesey pizza slice was beyond tastyy! I Will definitely order pizza from here againn! I want to try their chicken rings next.

Not quite as good as the happy, smiling Pizza Shack just a few doors down. This is all pizza relativism. One you get away from Grand St, standards are a lot higher.

My go to place for pizza after both the pizza shops on Madison closed down for a Dunkin donuts and a pharmacy store. Bomb ass skinny fries, best pizza at the right price, and their beef patties with cheese are so damn good. Everything here is good, and I like that it's not run over by obnoxious white hipsters...yet. It's mostly locals and let's hope it stays that way. I like A1 better than that place down the block with the grandma on the window. It's what a New York slice should cost and taste like. I dream about this shit when I go DC. And extra cheese on the slice? Forget it, I'm a dead woman. It's so fucking good.

Seriously some of the best pizza in the L.E.S area. Never really notice how much toppings they have, as i always just order a large cheese pie. Can't go wrong with this one!

they are O-P-E-N BY FAR the best in all of Lowa East side ..among best PIZZA of Manhattan! a hole in the wall but aawesome pizza. i go back every couple weeks from L.I. , its worth it. owner told me they use Polly-O cheese. MMMmmm JAY

First off, this place is not closed. When in this part of town, you do not have a lot of choices. There is a sushi place on the block, but I have yet to eat there. For pizza, this is way better than Pizza Shack, which makes cardboard style pizza. A-1 has very good, standard NYC pizza. Nicely done crust, properly charred, enough tasty sauce and solid cheese. Delivery is very fast and good. They also serve all sorts of other food, but the atmosphere for eating at is not very cool.

Love the chicken parmesan from this place. A great and classic new York style pizza shop.

worst pizza shop. treats customers badly, does not pick up phone calls, food looks expired and they are simply just extremely rude. will never eat here again

Have not tried the pizza yet but have gone back over and over again for their burgers. Very tasty. Can't say its the best I've ever had, but hard to beat price and convenience as its near my home. Giving one less star because I've been trying to call them to order take-out and calls not answered. Suggestion: as the neighborhood changes, suggest owners consider some modest remodeling. I trust the food, but for an outsiders, the less than stellar decor may be off putting and looks dirty.

Still the best pizza on the lower east side. 2 bucks a slice you cant go wrong. DELICIOUS TRY IT OUT
