Imagine the surprise when I found out that there are several places in Stockholm that now serve poke bowls. To me tho, poke is always the best on its own without the other things that come in the bowl, but I guess until that becomes the new trend I'll live with this.
So this super trendy hipster place is located near Maria Torget on Söder in Stockholm. You pretty much can't miss it when it's open because there is a bunch of people on the stairs.
Ordering is pretty simple because they don't have too much on the menu. Basic poke is just what it sounds like, basic. With rice (white or black), poke salad, poke sauce and a choice between salmon and tuna. Other choices include everything from avocado, mango, cashew, tahini, chickpeas etc, things that could also be added as extra on from what I understand either one of the bowls on the menu.
First off, the bowl itself was really good. Due to a misunderstanding both me and my sister got salmon instead of tuna in our bowls. It was good nonetheless, but knowing that tuna is exceptionally good in poke .. well .. it can't go without saying that I was a little disappointed.
Second to the misunderstanding. My sister put in her order and added avocado to a basic poke with tuna and black rice. I ordered a basic poke with tuna, white rice. My husband got the basic poke with tuna, black rice, avocado, and kimchi. When we got our bowls we looked at them and wondered what happened. All the bowls had black rice, two of them had kimchi, all of them avocado, and all of them tuna. It would have been all nice and dandy and I would have happily accepted the "free" add-ons if it weren't for the fact that 1, I don't like kimchi, nor am I too fond of avocado. And 2, they did get the order wrong, and getting the order wrong is kind of a big no-no.
My husband went back in to change our bowls back and returned and told us the attitude was kind of crappy from the girl that had taken our orders, she basically said that we got exactly what we had ordered when well, we didn't. So, second time around, the bowls came out and it was looking okay until I realized that it was salmon instead of tuna. If there wouldn't have been a price difference that little thing wouldn't have bothered me and I would have happily made another visit here to get another bowl but with tuna, but no. I went back in and told them that we had paid for tuna but now gotten salmon, they said that my husband had said that the previous bowls had salmon. Because, you know, they can't check the receipt or what she just threw out? After much discussion with two rather hostile people, we got the difference back in cash for tuna and salmon. Not what we wanted but still a compensation.
I get that they become super stressed when there is a crowd and that orders might get wrong or mixed up. But don't come to me and say that I ordered something when I didn't, and then get an attitude when I try to change it and get it right.
I give a 5 for the food because it really is good. But I get a 2 for the attitude. The girl that worked the "floor" was very nice and friendly and she alone gets 5 stars. You go girl!
