"It's like a magical light show in the water. Most people walk away saying, 'I don't even know how to describe this,'" Mike Mahan, owner of A Day Away Kayak Tours in Titusville, another outfitter offering tours, shared with Visit Florida. What a great experience! The weather was perfect and Eli, Josh and Stephanie were such fun and knowledgeable tour guides! We saw so many manatees and even an alligator! Bird island was wild! What a racket they made!! The bioluminescence was magical. To see the fish darting around leaving their stardust trails was so cool!! Even the mosquitoes didn’t show up to ruin our fun. We’d never kayaked before (and it showed haha!) but Stephanie kept an eye on us and made sure we didn’t end up in Cuba. 😂. If you’re worried about never having navigated a kayak, don’t be. They will take great care of you! This was truly an awesome tour and I highly recommend taking time to do this.

If I could give 100 stars, I would. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I've loved Manatees my entire life but being from KS and now TX....ya I've never seen one lol. We did the mombi combo tour and it was amazing. Zoey was our guide and she was fantastic and I'm so glad she was assigned to us! We saw so many adorable manatees, dolphins, gators, flamingos, and the bioluminescence was truly magical. My kids will never ever forget this. Pro tip: book your trip on the fourth of July so you can watch the skyline explode with fireworks while you cruise through the lit up water. Truly amazing. THANKS y'all!!!

Google
Great trip. We saw at least 12-15 manatee maybe more. Brandi and Nathan were great guides and very knowledgeable. We also got to see comb jellies and the bioluminescence was amazing!! Some in the group were 20 minutes late but we still spent 3 hours on the water. Well worth the money.

We went on the Bioluminescence Tour this past Thursday. It's was awesome and beyond our expectations. Our guide Caleb was extremely knowledgeable and so very patient. The wildlife was incredible, the weather perfect. Could not have asked for a better evening. Highly recommend taking this tour.

Google
Every person we encountered was wonderful to work with! I had to reschedule our booking twice due to travel complications and they were very accommodating. We had initially booked a bioluminescent tour, but changed to Dolphin Manatee day time kayak tour. It was fantastic! Our guide Zoe was very knowledgeable and personable. She did a great job and customized the tour to us as it ended up just being the 3 of us. We even got to see flamingos! I highly recommend this company!

Google
Our Girl Scout troop decided to book a bioluminescence kayak tour while visiting from Arizona. We were very excited for the trip and it still exceeded our expectations! The ocean lights up with every touch of your paddle, but my favorite part was the electric blue lightening bolts that show up underwater as the many mullet fish try to flee the kayaks! It’s a definite must-see! Drew was our guide, along with a crew consisting of Brandon, Brenden, Nick & Gabe. They were knowledgeable and they did a great job protecting us from anything that might preset as danger, i.e. boats, fishing lines, animals, trees. Drew likes a good pun and he has a few tricks to make it even more fun. I highly recommend A Day Away!

There was a group of 11 of us for the 7:15pm kayak tour with the bioluminescent comb jelly fish. We had Aiden, Kurt, and Drew as our guides. They were fantastic with the 8 teenagers, mostly boys, that were on the tour. My daughter and her friend had a minor emotional meltdown but Kurt stepped up and towed her the whole tour. She was so thankful for his kindness and humor in lightening the situation. He made her laugh and keep calm which made her experience, even if were different than the rest of ours, very memorable. The rest of us had an amazing time with the history that Aiden shared with us. They even gave one of the boys the jar so he could store the jellyfish he was catching. The water was surprisingly warm which was nice since the temperature had dropped significantly that night. I would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a unique experience. The only advice I have is to make sure you are aware that you don't get out on the water until it is dark, which of course makes sense, and it is about two hours from that time. We really had a great time and would definitely do it again if we were ever back up in the area. Thanks for a great experience Aiden, Kurt and Drew.

Google
We took the bioluminescent tour. The guides were great. They definitely made sure we felt confident in where we were going and able to get there. The did a great job of helping everyone feel included in seeing the wildlife. They were very knowledgeable about the wildlife as well. If booking to see the bioluminescent wildlife, be mindful of the moon. It was 4 days away from the full moon so we werent able to see them light up very well.

Yelp
We recently went on a kayaking tour with A Day Away with our guide, Zoey. We had a phenomenal time [even if it was an intense work out]. Zoey gave clear, concise and useful instruction on how to Kayak because neither my wife nor I have really been before. Likewise, we also got a lot of good history about the area, the Kennedy Space Center, and the local wildlife. Very knowledgeable! Zoey also took pictures for us. We covered a lot of water and got to see several cool locations. I would definitely recommend and definitely would like to do so again. We did the daylight sight-seeing tour by haulover canal. We saw manatees, dolphins, pelicans, alligators and a variety of other birds.

Yelp
What an unfortunate experience we had last night using A Day Away Kayak Tours. I signed up for a single kayak, as I was traveling alone, although kayaking with my club. At the last minute I decided to bring a friend, which was a good thing, because they decided to bring tandem kayaks instead of singles. So we started off on a bad foot, because so many of us in the club prefer to kayak in singles. We were told unless we specifically called them to make sure we would be in a single, they would double us up. Had I not come with a friend, there was no one to double up with and I am not sure what would have happened. Secondly, our guide was terrible. All 12 of us in the club were there well before our 7:30 start time. Our club leader was told by the office that if the group was there early, the guide would be happy to get us on the water early. However, our Guide, whose name was Island, decided that he would go and sit in his truck for 30 minutes when he arrived at 7 pm and then start asking for waivers and information at 7:30. Not only did we stand around from 7 pm until 7:30 while he sat in his truck, but during the next 30 minutes we missed the sunset and we were eaten alive by mosquitoes standing there waiting for him to do his paperwork. We didn't get on the water until dark, 30 minutes after we were supposed to hit the water. Thirdly, although I expected darkness on this kayak, I didn't expect to be told that there were manatees in the water that would surface and tip our boats in the dark and that we had to be very careful. He called it a manatee stampede. Seriously? We were also told to stay away from the shore line because 'animals' would like jump into our kayaks if we got too close. Now, honestly, how would you feel kayaking with this guide when he is making everyone feel like they will either tip over or be attacked. I know I am not the only one that was not happy using this outfitter and if I do the bioluminescence tour again, it will not be with A Day Away.

Dani S.

Yelp
Everything was fantastic! Booking was easy, guide was friendly & knowledgeable. Tour started on time after a brief safety talk. Immediately saw dolphins which swam close to our kayaks. We then proceeded to an area to interact with the manatees. During conversation with guide he mentioned that they sometimes see launches from NASA on the evening tours. He looked it up and told us that there was a launch that night! We paddled to a spot to watch the sunset and view the launch. It was beyond what we could have hoped. Thank you Island!

Yelp
We had a great time on our Sunset & Bioluminescence kayaking adventure up in Cocoa Beach. It was my first time kayaking but I was able to keep up. Our guides (I forgot their names but I think one was Piper) were engaging and informative. We didn't get to see any dolphins or manatee which was a bummer, but we did get to see plenty of bioluminescent lifeforms in the water. Definitely recommend if you want a fun adventure that's off the beaten path.

Leslie P.

Yelp
I do not recommend A Day Away Kayak Tours. I booked the bioluminescent night kayak tour in January through Booking.com website for our March trip to Cocoa Beach. On the day of the tour I received a call at 5pm from Josh with A Day Away stating that the tour guide was stuck in traffic and would not make our 8pm tour. He asked if we minded going at a later time that evening or the next day. We chose to go at the same 8pm time the next day. On the following day, we ran into a wreck on the way to the site entering Titusville. The wreck covered both lanes and we were diverted by police to turn around. We noticed that they were at the point of sweeping the glass and decided to turn back around to see if they would let us pass as there is no other way to go around. At this point, it is 7:30 and we repeatedly tried calling the office to let someone know we would be running late. No one answered at the office and the voicemail stated to call the number from our confirmation. The only confirmation I received was from Booking.com which did not contain that information. We pulled up to the location that was given to us from Google Maps and Booking.com and it was a Napa Auto Parts on Forest Drive. At that point, the guide, Brian, called to see where we were. I explained that we followed the directions that were given to us from our booking. He stated that he didn't know where we were and that he'd "see us next time." He said he would put a note on our account for a refund, but to please call the office. We told him that we had been trying to call the office for 30 minutes several times, but no answer. He said, "keep trying" and let me go. I called the office as soon as I hung up with Brian. Josh immediately answered clearly angry. I told him what had happened and he challenged me the entire conversation. He told me that they do not refund. He offered a voucher to use any time, but I told him that I live over 700 miles away and would most likely not be returning. He said, "Well, I don't know what you want to do then." I said that I would need to dispute the charge with Booking.com. He said, "Fine. We'll fight it!" and hung up on me. I did dispute it with booking.com and A Day Away lied to them saying that we were a no call no show and stated that I received a confirmation from Viator! I never received a second confirmation from them directly, only Booking.com. So, we didn't receive the service we paid $160 for and it was because their guide was stuck in traffic the day before. We offered them grace for that and remained flexible with them, but they could not do that for us? They must really need the $160. I never received a separate confirmation. They are the ones that had to reschedule. The Google Maps directions (screenshot of where it took us attached) were incorrect. And I'm met with unprofessional behavior? The name that comes up when you select directions from our booking came up with another name, so also beware of BK Adventures. It didn't take us long to see the terrible reviews from Google, Yelp, etc. for me to realize that I should have read more reviews before booking. Lesson learned. Please learn from me and read some of the other reviews and book with another outfit They are wild. Lastly, if you are looking to book a bioluminescent tour, be sure to check the seasons. I also didn't realize March is not peak season, so there was a high chance we wouldn't have seen anything anyway. Again, lesson learned. Don't book with this company. I organize trips for a living and this company is beyond unprofessional. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere otherwise you might have a birthday surprise ruined like we did.

Yelp
Fourteen or so adventurers assembled late Friday night at Kelly Park East. The weather was warm and windy, and the moon was bright. Piper and Kurt, our guides, gave us a short briefing, then we walked to the shore and mounted our kayaks. Most of us had tandems. Our guides were fantastic! They led us to great sites, and helped us get incredible views of the bioluminescents. The two hours flew by, but we have awesome memories of "comb jellies" and fish lighting up the water as the raced by. Piper and Kurt were very attentive and made sure everyone was safe. We had several checkpoints where we rested and Piper shared information and tips. When we returned to shore, we were a little tired and very soaked but we loved every minute. It was an awesome experience! I have a better appreciation of our Florida coast. Many thanks to Piper and Kurt for this great experience!

Yelp
We went as a BSA troop on 8/10. It was very disorganized. We didn't get on the water until far later than we were supposed to. Being told three different things by three different people. Stand here for instructions, then someone says come get paddles, first person asks where we are going. When we asked about getting on the water so late they said it didn't matter we would stay out for the same amount of time. But then we overheard the guides saying they just got assigned a last minute late night tour and we were rushed back to shore so they could be on time for the second tour. The guide also kept telling us not to go ahead then would stop to check his phone and end up behind the entire group. We went with another company a few years ago and it was night and day the difference in quality and service provided from each.

Edward R.

Yelp
Tanner was our guide and did a fantastic job describing the local wildlife. Had elaborarte answers for all of our questions. Went into depth with safetY and crash course of kayaking basics. Thank you Tanner!

Mari B.

Yelp
It was awesome! October to April is the jelly glowing. June to October? Is the glowing water. We went end of April and had a fabulous time. It's so unique experience. Yes you might see a alligator. Or ride a manatees. Yes if you happened to glide over one sleeping they will get away from under you hahaha. Or they are awake and you see some swimming. Some locations you see dolphins but most likely not. We took the sunset tour. It was amazing! Next tour had a chance to see the rocket launch from the water. Zoe is a fantastic guide. Very professional and safety thinking. She makes you feel like you been best friends forever and she is great with kids! I give 10 stars if I could.

John B.

Yelp
We booked a trip on Friday July 21st. Our guides were Chaz and Steve. We did a trip last fall and the bioluminescence was there, but not so bright. This trip was awesome!! We left out of Haulover Canal (Titusville). Chaz is very knowledgeable and did a tour before our 10:45pm trip. He knew where the wildlife was and best places to see the fish, crabs, manatees and alligators swimming through the bioluminescence water. Everywhere we went the water was so bright. I recommend the later trip, this way the guide will know the best place for your enjoyment. Remember to tip these guys. Use bug spray for in the parking lot. Bring ziplock back to keep your wallet and keys dry. This trip was the best we have been on. This hot weather and warm water makes it the best. This area is an easy paddle. Enjoy your paddling trip.

Phuong N.

Yelp
Don't think. Just do it....but bring bug spray. If you ever wanted to feel like you were a voyager sailing through a sea of stars, clear kayaking during the bioluminescent season is your chance.

Lara S.

Yelp
Thank you, Zoe, for a wonderful outing!! We saw manatees, dolphins, and the lights. Had an amazing time!!!!

Greg S.

Yelp
The bioluminescence tour with Matthew was amazing! We had a lot of moonlight so it didn't look like the pictures, but it was very clearly visible. Matthew was very knowledgeable and really made the experience fun. Highly recommend.

Megan V.

Yelp
We did the evening tour at 745pm, which I think was perfect timing. We were able to enjoy the sunset, and the bioluminescent. Definitely bring bug spray that works on midges/no-see-ums. Mine didn't work against them and we were eaten alive. Check in was pretty easy, checked off our name and gave us a life jacket and glow stick. A few people were in single kayaks and everyone else in double. The three guides were great at explaining everything and looking out for everyone's safety. We booked on Groupon, but you could book through other means. It was too dark for me to see the manatees, but there were some out there. The later it got the brighter the bioluminescent got. It was a really fun experience and I would do it again.

Mark S.

Yelp
I took my twins to Merritt Island for a bioluminescent kayak tour on the Banana River to celebrate their 18th birthdays and it was amazing. The combination of the new moon and warm water temperature meant that the dinoflagellates were dense and super bright. Schools of mullet were lit up by the bioluminescence as they swam, jumped and landed. It was other-worldly! Toss in some bioluminescent comb jellies, great blue heron and a baby gator and the 25 or so of us had a great time paddling from 10:00-11:30pm. The only downside was the amount of light pollution and road noise from Port Canaveral and SR528 at the Kelly Park location. Not a dealbreaker by any stretch, but next time (and there will be a next time), I will use the Haulover Canal location instead. Thanks to Harrison, our guide from "A Day Away Kayak Tours" for a job well done.

Kimberly A.

Yelp
This was awesome Loran did awesome she was enthusiastic and fun she put up with 7 of us from Maine and we will be back to do it again thank you a day away kayaking.

Lily L.

Yelp
A few weeks ago I had an AWESOME tour with Chaz from A Day Away Kayak Tours. Chaz was knowledgeable, friendly and fun to be with! And the tour was wonderful - we saw manatees, dolphins, diving pelicans, cormorants, and so on. And plus we saw bioluminescent comb jellies - so cool! I highly recommend this tour!!!

Alice C.

Yelp
We decided on the sunset and Bioluminescent combo tour for my friend's birthday celebration! The office staff who answered my inquiry on weather, safety, refund policy was courtesy and knowledgeable. The website is user friendly and has many tour choices with lots of time frame availability. I was able to book the tour quickly and effectively. The tour confirmation email also has a link to the waiver, each participant(s) in the reservation has to sign it. The communication was excellent along with another email reminder for direction and FYI a day before the actual tour. On the tour day, we followed the direction and found the meeting spot 30 minutes before the tour time. We got some excellent photos. The experience was pleasant, weather was lovely, and saw wild life! The tour guide explained the ecosystem and the cause of bioluminescent. One minor situation was two people from the tour left with out notify anyone which the tour guide spent some time to look for them. The company is awesome and my group has an awesome memory, would highly recommend! ps bug spray is essential!!

Jennifer C.

Yelp
A fabulous experience! My husband and I just did the sunset and bioluminescence kayak trip from the Haulover launch site in Titusville. It was such fun! Easy to book online and folks who answer the phones also addressed any questions I had in advance. Our guides, Tanner and Amanda, were friendly and knowledgeable. We saw a lot of manatees up close and a stunning sunset. Then, after dark, we got to experience the cool bioluminescence where microscopic algae make the water glow a bluish green. Highly recommend this activity!! Do bring bug spray

Paula G.

Yelp
Ross and John did a great job sharing this beautiful area of Florida with us. They were entertaining and knowledgeable. We were able to see dolphins, manatee, and a lot of fish. The bioilluminescence was on full display for us along with the huge Strawberry Moon! Thanks for the great adventure!

John M.

Yelp
A day away kayak tours is Spectacular! I've Lived in Brevard County for more than 35 years and I felt as a visitor in my own backyard. The information and the knowledge of the guides were extremely informative I will definitely do it again and bring all my friends and family visitors to them thanks again for a wonderful Tour

Faith M.

Yelp
I'm so so glad that we did the bioluminescent kayak tour! Our guides were so down to earth and friendly while being knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife. There was a great balance between facts/info and personality/fun. We felt that our safety was prioritized; we didn't go out right away due to strong winds and we were often reminded that we could ask for a tow if we felt overwhelmed or uncomfortable. The views were amazing and it was a very casual and friendly experience in the water. What to wear: You will probably get wet! We dressed for mosquitoes more than anything (which ended up not being an issue with the wind) - so long socks, pants, and sweaters. If I did it again I would wear a bathing suit with long but breathable clothes covering. Plus socks and crocks (or a water friendly shoe). I definitely was happy to have a change of clothes after, as our butts did get wet. Bring some towels, bug spray, and fresh underwear haha. I brought my cell phone out as a first time kayaker without issue. 10/10 and going to go again.

Annette R.

Yelp
Amazing night with Zach and Gillie. Loved it so much we plan on bringing the family back in December.

Robbi J.

Yelp
We had an awesome adventure on our Mondo Combo Sunset and Bioluminescence tour. 3 amazing hours of the best scenery. Our guide, Chili (Mike), made it so much fun that we wanted to stay another 3 hours. We saw manatees, dolphins, an alligator, ospreys and other birds, lots of comb jellies, and amazing bioluminescence. The sunset was beautiful. Chili is a knowledgeable guide and teacher about the conservation of the Merritt Island area.

Lana E.

Yelp
If you haven't experienced bioluminescent kayaking, finish reading this review and book a tour ASAP! This natural phenomenon of bioluminescence is seriously UNREAL and something you need to experience for yourself. Unfortunately, my camera was unable to capture it but believe me- it is something straight out of the movies. Think- Pandora in Avatar! The slight agitation of the water causes microscopic dinoflagellates to illuminate, creating an amazing blue glowing water! A Day Away Kayaking is the perfect company to book your tour with! The tour guides, Rebecca, Sunny, Harrison and Anthony were so knowledgeable, funny and we felt very comfortable with them as we got into the water! We were taken on an unforgettable trip into the dark, glowing waters- through the "Maze" and into what I call "the Mullet Zone", where THOUSANDS of mullets were hanging out and started FLIPPING out as we entered the area. They started darting around and up into the air! Some lucky kayakers got some in their boat!! The stars were immensely bright and some individuals caught shooting stars- we even saw a few fireflies! We did the dinoflagellate tour in regular kayaks- they also have clear kayaks for a little more $$. Go! Go now and book with this company a nighttime tour. It will be something you'll never forget!

Judy S.

Yelp
I wanted to do this for sometime now. I am glad I did. This tour was everything I expected and more. When researching a bioluminescence tour, a few places stood out. I liked the reviews to this place. The locals also spoke highly of this company. This is why I selected this one. I booked on line. The company was very professional and detailed. An email detailing written directions and a Google navigation route was mailed to me. This was useful because the park has bad Wi-Fi. The email had other useful suggestions as to what to bring, what to expect and how to dress. They also recommend on products for the Vampire little punkies bugs out there and mosquitos. The park is big. I recommend give yourself enough time to get there. From the entrance to the park to the kayak launch is about 20 minutes or more. The area where u meet or parking lot has some holes, drive slower. The tour guide gives you a life jacket and whistle. He then gives instructions and the honorable glow stick of light is given to you with a paddle. My tour started at 7:15. I got there a little early and I took some cool pictures. I saw a few Dolphins playing. I saw something big with bubbles move around. It was a Manatee. I saw all this just before it got dark. It's worth getting here early to see it. I felt so lucky to have seen this. It gets freaking dark really fast here. It gets so dark you can only see the glow stick from the kayak in front of you once you are in the water. The guide has a light and then the magic happens. The water I was paddling starts to glow. It was so cool. A very beautiful sight. The guide was knowledgeable. he explained the what was happening. What we where seeing. He pointed to other glowing swimming creatures. The entire experience was so awesome. I enjoyed everything.

Kerrie C.

Yelp
Our tour was cancelled for wind. I did not read the fine print to see that refunds are not issued for poor weather, so I am out over $200 because our family flew out the next day and we could not reschedule. They refused to budge. This is very wrong. Their competitor, Calypso Kayaks issues a full refund. Go with them.

Leah B.

Yelp
Don't do business with these assholes. Once they have your money, that is all they care about. Shitty customer service, and in violation of federal and state consumer protection statutes. Keeps money for services not rendered.

Tish R.

Yelp
My friend and I booked the sunset bioluminescence kayak tour; and it did not disappoint. Our guides, Mark and Katie were amazing. Our group was a mix of experience, from small children to senior adults, and everyone had a blast. We saw dolphins and got to pet manatees that seemed to be vying for our attention. We even saw a rocket launch. We saw a fabulous sunset. And the bioluminescence was magical. It was another best day ever.

Anna B.

Yelp
I've gone on several bioluminescence tours with A Day Away. It's so worth it to me that every time I have a friend in town we make the 4 hour roundtrip car ride down to experience it- and they have all loved it too! The last trip down was canceled due to lightning unfortunately and we had already made the drive down but my friend still thought it was worth it even to see/play in it for a few minutes if that tells you how cool this experience is! The guides are always friendly and very knowledgeable. They are very concerned with safety too: they do a boat count several times throughout the trip, you're provided with life jackets/whistles/glow sticks. The time our trip was canceled for lightning, another company still went out so I appreciated them caring more for our safety than making money that night. I highly recommend taking a bioluminescence tour! I would wear leggings and a light, long sleeve shirt to avoid getting hundreds of big bites and even then, still wear bug spray. There are Porta pottys when you get to the launch site.

Jessica S.

Yelp
8:30 pm tour, carrie & harrison were awesome! Perfect conditions to see the water glow. So many glowing fish and dolphins. Had an amazing night!!

Gary G.

Yelp
We did a bioluminescent tour on 7/19. Our tour leaders, Dinah and Jackson are a very friendly, capable, and knowledgeable team. They clearly and humorously explained kayak safety and paddling technique, and efficiently got our group of 16 fitted with locator glow sticks, life jackets, and paddles. Nature didn't really cooperate with bioluminescent views, and we didn't encounter and manatees or dolphins. Thankfully, we had applied plenty of insect repellent or we would have been eaten alive. Dinah led the way, taking us to known optimum viewing spots while explaining the science behind bioluminescence, and Jackson brought up the rear to make sure nobody got left behind or encountered any difficulty. A bit of advice: If you book a tour, it's better viewing when there's less moonlight -- maybe the one thing you can plan for. If I were to do it again, I'd go during the day when we might see dolphins or manatees.

Tina A.

Yelp
Horrible customer experience. Made reservations for 16th of August. Horrible storm and lightning advisory. Called all day for an update to see if excursion was canceled no response! Then at 5:45 we get a call saying the excursion was still on schedule. We are an hour and 15 minutes away from the location which we explained to the rude person with the kids and dogs in the background so loud, we couldn't understand anything she was saying. we told her we needed a cancellation or a refund because of the weather and lightning warnings. She told us that it was not canceled and it was on as scheduled. (with a weather warning) we explained to her that we are one and a half hours away, and that we didn't want to drive three hours on our last day in Florida to go and have it canceled due to weather. She was unreasonable and did not give us a refund. I feel like this is a horrible company, customer service, and all together a horrible experience. Here is pictures of the warning and storm advisory. The women hung up on us during the conversation 3xs. Very unprofessional!

Brian A.

Yelp
I couldn't have expected more if I tried - these guys are great. Informative, patient, understanding, great with kids and they love what they do. We went out at night for the bioluminescence trip and it was amazing! Every bit of information we were sent about the trip was spot-on. Biggest piece of advice... please get to your spot early. It really gives you an opportunity to meet your guide, get more instruction, and have all your questions answered.

Christy C.

Yelp
There were no considerations for Covid in place and no one was wearing masks. That being said, I attended two separate events: a manatee and dolphin tour as well as a bioluminescence tour. The guides were wonderful, knowledgeable, helpful. The water was dark so we only saw a few manatee noses and the bioluminescence was at the start of the season so not as pronounced as I expected (my first time) but the trips were definitely worth what I paid. I'm planning another bioluminescence tour later in the summer when the plankton is brighter.

Yelp
Bing bang boom! Need something to do while you're waiting to watch the shuttle....errr, I mean, take your trip on some space tourism flight? Look no further. I'm from Titusville and for me, Brevard county is heaven on earth with so much to do and see. One thing I never thought I'd do is kayak with manatees! Funny story! I got my dad and step mom a gift certificate for A Day Away for Christmas. Thought they'd enjoy it as they're outdoorsy folks. Well, fast forward to July and I was coming to visit from South Florida and my dad mentioned they'd not used their gift certificate and they'd like to regift to us??!! Weird, right? Since we kayak often at home, it was a no brainer. It was me, my fiancée, and my daughter. And we took the scenic drive out to Haulover. Little tip: allow time to explore. You can see a bunch of wildlife on the drive out there. We arrived first and John and (if I forgot your name, I'm sorry, but I think) Danielle were unloading the yaks. We arrived 25-30 mins early and we just hung out. Shortly either folks arrived. The yaks were nice Wilderness brands and some others that I forgot but solid brands. They had maybe 2-3 singles and the rest tandems. So if you like being on your own, keep that in mind. You get your PFF and paddle(s), safety brief, and route summary and you're off! Yes! You have to wear your PFD! The first stop was a little area where manatees congregate and there had to be a dozen at least there. Way awesome! Critters came right up to blow their stinky breath in your face! Then under the bridge to a lookout area and more manatees! Hit maybe 500 yards north after that and then headed back. Another tip: going back is your workout! Going to, you're going with the current, back, against! So psych yourself up! No dolphin but we did see them prior to leaving from the shore. This was a fantastic trip. My fiancée had never really seen manatees and lost her mind! My kiddo loved it, too! And me, well I'm always down for something outside! If you need something to do, if you're visiting, if you're waiting for a launch day, if you just want to be out in some of nature's finest, head out to A Day Away! We'll be back for sure!

Yelp
Chaz was very nice and helpful. Even if you've never kayaked before he explains it very well. Even though there were manatees and alligators swimming in the same body of water we were kayaking in, I felt pretty safe. Idk if the transparent kayak was worth it but it was definitely cool to see the bioluminescent plankton and comb jellies. The pictures aren't very good compared to what you see in real life. Saw two manatees from the parking lot that was very cool. They mean it when they say wear bug spray. Don't forget that. Would have been cooler if we were on a beach and saw the water come to the shore as waves, but this was still very cool to see it light up as you paddled and as the other people paddled. Got to paddle by an abandoned sailboat as well as an island with random people hanging out on it. Very neat experience overall.

Yelp
1m · We were in Florida and wanted to do a night kayak trip to see luminescent sea life. My wife and daughter chose "A Day Away Kayak" tours. It was a great experience with our guide Chaz. He explained things in detail helping us understand the kinds of luminescent night life. In addition we experienced seeing various night time hunting animals such as racoons and various birds and some of us got to see a manatee come up under his canoe, which gave him what he called a "rodeo ride." I highly recommend these guys and Chaz was a great guide. Chaz was a five star guide. Thank you "A Day Away Kayak Tours."

Yelp
AWESOME experience! Chaz and Troy are EXCEPTIONAL tour guides! VERY informative and we're very patient. They took the time to explain kayaking to those who were not experienced, and made time for those catching up on the water. Chaz made it a point to seek out spots of dense dinoflagellates and call the group over to spend 5-10 minutes letting the group revel in the beauty of it before moving on to another spot. Troy was designated to keep an eye on any stragglers and helped them whenever needed and reassured those who were needing guidance. Chaz was showing off the comb jellyfish and I asked if he could wait so i could run and get my phone to take a video, but when i came back he had already thrown them back, so he took it upon himself to go out and catch some more even though i insisted not to because they had a lot of equipment to pack up and i didn't want him to do all of that just for me to get a video, but he was like, "it'll only take me like 2 min, i'll be upset if yu don't let me go get some more" so he went back out on the kayak and was back with a jar full of beautiful comb jellies!! I was so grateful for that, i'll never forget his kindness! Also i'd like to mention not only were Chaz and Troy so very patient, thorough, and informative, but they took the time for everyone while all the other companies had already packed up and left

Yelp
We went on the 9:30pm Bioluminescent kayak tour and had an amazing experience. Drew and Janice were our tour guides and were friendly, knowledgeable, and entertaining. They offered both tandem and single kayaks to accommodate couples and single participants. All of their equipment were in great condition and each person were fitted with a life vest, given glow sticks necklaces for visibility as well as whistles to communicate in case of an emergency. After a safety brief and training session on how to maneuver the kayaks and paddles, we were given numbers for our kayaks which was used for roll call throughout our time in the water to ensure that no one got lost or separated from the group. The bioluminescent dinoflagellates plankton was such an electric luminescent blue and truly magnificent to witness. We also saw schools of fish, dolphins and maybe some dark shadows of sleeping manatees? This tour was both educational and fun and I highly recommend this activity for couples, friends and families.

Yelp
We went in the bioluminescent kayak excursion on Saturday September 16. The staff did not seem to be knowledgeable about what was happening. We were told there would be one staff member leading one in the middle of the group and one at the end supposedly counting the boats. One if the staff members forgot his radio which if there was an emergency he could not have assisted and he mentioned a few times that he could not hear what the leader was saying. This was nit good considering it was thundering and lightning so he wooo up le not know if the trip was called. As we were kayaking all three of the employees we're together and no one was monitoring the kayaks. The group was too big and people kept boating onto each other. We were supposed to start at7:30. That didn't happen. My husband got hit in the face by a paddle the plus side was the kayaks didn't have a hole in them. Otherwise it was not a pleasant experience. I would definitely not recommend this place

Yelp
We did the Bioluminescence clear boat tour with Chaz as our guide he was awesome! He was very throughal and knowledgeable. We are a family of 6 on vacation from WA State, and this was one of our must do's while in Florida, and it did not disappoint. Chaz knew where the perfect places were so we could see the plankton light up. It was worth the drive from Orlando and money well spent.

Yelp
My favorite activity since I've moved to Florida was the bioluminescence tour at A Day Away. It's worth skipping an early bedtime or trading in a night at the bar to hit one of their late night tours. The guides knew great spots to take us that weren't crowded and had tons of bioluminescent activity. We got do see the dinoflagellates as well as catch some comb jellies!! The guide was knowledgeable and kept the group paced and feeling safe. I would go again in a heartbeat and have since recommended to many of my friends and family visiting that we book a trip. The activity you'll see here is very unique to the area and is something everyone should experience! I look forward to learning more about their other tours and trying those too. My only feedback would be to have them look at tandem vs. single kayaks. I went by myself so I was booked in a single, but everyone else in groups was paired up in a tandem. Perhaps a small detail that many may not be concerned by, but I personally don't like tandems and would've wanted a single regardless. Perhaps it's for good reason in keeping the group small and managed though... either way, food for thought!

Yelp
This place is incredible! When I first called I spoke with Brandy, she was such a sweetheart and really helped me pick the best package for this time of year. I chose to do this for a birthday and it couldn't have been more perfect. The entire 3 hour tour was absolutely beautiful with tons of dolphins, manatee, birds, and of course the bioluminescence. There were at least 20-25 manatees that swam right up to our kayak. We didn't see any of the comb jellies but the phytoplankton bioluminescence were beautiful. They lit up every time you moved the water. Don't think about it, just do it. The price is reasonable and totally with it. We had Bob as our tour guide and he was very relaxed and had some great cheesy jokes. This honestly surpassed any expectations I had. I did the mondo combo tour.

Yelp
My family had an amazing time! The guides were knowledgeable, I learned not only how to kayak but also cool wildlife facts and I want to go again!

Yelp
1st I'll get the upsetting items out of the way and then get to the good stuff. I paid for 3 people in 3 individual kayaks. When we arrived they only gave us one single and a double with no discount because "they are busy and need them for other tours". The tour was extremely slow passed. I was upset we also did not go to bird island due to the winds picking up and when we went to the fish section we didnt see any fish either. We didnt see the alligator we went to look for through the maze, dolphins or another other wildlife except for the manatees and birds. Onto the good. Chad was very friendly, funny tell his dad jokes, sharing cool tips and tricks to maneuver the kayak to a 14 year old. He knew alot about nature and the birds we were seeing and informed us about the wildlife around (but didnt see much of). The best part of the night was the sunset and bioluminescence. Chad also thought us the little tricks in the water to see it light up. Overall we would go back!

Yelp
Very professional and knowledgeable tour guide Max took us for a great kayak trip during the day. Gave us tons of cool facts about the area wildlife and safely maneuvered us through the cove. Got to see tons of manatee, dolphins, and birds out in the river! Overall would definitely recommend this experience!
