A Hotel Joo Chiat

Booked a room with 3 singles and was told that room was fully booked so the night shift staff placed us in a family room with a double and one single. Went in and first thing that greeted us was a large cockroach. Went to tell the staff and she said she will call housekeeping to look into it but didn't specify a time. This was already quite late. So we told her to move us to a different room and she said the hotel was fully booked. Obviously not the case as we could see other rooms available when we looked up booking sites. So she finally said one room was made available and placed us there. Small room with a double bed and shower was not working (she disappeared rest of the night and we were unable to get a hold of anybody) so do check if showers work, if not, be prepared for a cold shower. Went to ask for the room we had paid for the next day and staff finally said it was now apparently available and moved us, offered no explanation on the first night nor an apology and said 'management will look into it and offer us an explanation or refund of the room we had booked'. It has been a few weeks and we have heard nothing back. I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all, terrible service and room was not comfortable. Pity as we had seen good reviews but unfortunately our stay and experience was just the complete opposite.

I had a late check-in on March 31, 2025. It took a bit of extra time to locate the property, as the hotel's name differed from what was listed on Tiket.com and the signage was not very clear. Clearer identification would be helpful, especially for first-time guests. The room and bathroom were clean and generally comfortable. However, throughout the stay, housekeeping service was minimal. Towels were replaced, but the room was not cleaned, and the bed was left unmade, which was a little disappointing. The reception staff’s demeanor felt rather reserved, and a more welcoming attitude would have improved the overall experience. On a positive note, the hotel is located in a quiet area, which is suitable for rest and relaxation. It may also be a convenient choice for Muslim travelers due to the surrounding amenities. However, for tourists new to Singapore, the location might be slightly less ideal as it is a bit removed from the city center and major attractions. While there are some strengths, particularly in cleanliness and peacefulness, there is room for improvement in terms of service and guest communication.

Don't stay there! I was injured by a spring or or metal coming through a hole in the mattress that was hidden by the sheet. The metal came through when weight was applied piercing my foot. I raised this with the staff at checkout. We had stayed there before but it has really gone downhill. I had booked another stay but lost that money rather than stay again. Cups were filthy. Staff weren't particularly friendly or helpful. There are much nicer areas to stay in Singapore.

Classic 2-3 star hotel. Location is convenient. Not the most well appointed but you get what you pay for. They give you late checkout if you leave a review.

Affordable hotel in the lovely neighbourhood of Joo Chiat with great accessibility thanks to the bus stops nearby. Nothing fancy but clean, enjoyed having a fridge and a kettle for breakfast in the morning.

Stayed here for a few nights. Paid £70> per night. This was way too expensive for the quality of hotel this is. It is pretty run down, very basic and pretty old fashioned. It is ok for a couple nights, but its price should be way less for this quality.||The WiFi did not work at all, so that meant we had to use our phone data during our trip. Everyone needs wifi wherever they stay, so this was not good at all, especially for how much we paid. ||It was also noisy! Even at 3am there was people banging around and making noise. Maybe the walls are thin, but whoever was around at that time every night had no consideration for sleeping guests. ||Would not stay here again, needs updating and needs wifi fixed.||Also only one member of staff was friendly. The rest just sat at the front desk either chatting or just ignored us, didn’t even acknowledge us when we walked past or say hello. ||Would not stay here again, needs updating and needs wifi fixed.
