A wonderful local cuisine experience. I had the Menu Merendeira. The soup was delicious, and the bread was super fresh and warm. It paired perfectly with the cold beer. For dessert, the rice pudding (or sütlaç for the Turks) had the perfect amount of sugar. It was a great lunch stop on the way to the city center after Belem.

These were cheap and hit the spot. The meat one was excellent although could have been a bit warmer (though we arrived mid afternoon). The cod was a little underwhelming. Something with the texture and flavor could have been a bit better. I did enjoy the rice pudding. Overall a satisfying lunch spot.

It looks like a local spot. We came at 5 pm and there were only a couple Portuguese people. The consistency and taste of the soup was great, it reminds me of a northeastern Turkish soup (black cabbage soup). Chorizo bread was big and filling. Staff was kind and lovely. Very affordable for such a great comfort food.

Soup was served not so hot that's why maybe it tasted bland?? though the chorizo in it was so tasty.
Chorizo sandwich was rock hard. Table is not very well cleaned: sticky, with a strand of hair. The only thing i like is their rice pudding. Wanted to get another one to compensate the long walk i did but opted to go to Pasteis de Beleim.
Will i come back? No
Will i try the soup again even from other resto? Maybe no.

Amazing experience! The sandwich was absolutely delicious, and I highly recommend this place. It has such a great vibe! However, the only issue was that the lady who served me forgot to bring my drink, which was listed on the menu. I only realised later, but overall, it didn’t take away from the great experience.

I tried both soups, caldo Verde, and the soup of the day! Delicious, the sandwich was outstanding. For those who don't know this is an Artisans place. The bread is baked fresh daily in the wood oven. The rice pudding is wonderful. If I wasn’t so full, I would have tried more from the menu. The best stop we made in Lisbon.
You won't beat the price either.

Discovered this place after watching the Mark Wiens video. What a find! The chorizo bread is so soft and fluffy with a crispy outside. Perfect for dunking into the creamy, savoury calo verde. Gorgeous! With a beer, the meal deal came to 5.50 euros - unbelievable value! Simple, hearty home cooking at its best.

Yelp
This place is one of those eateries that have existed across generations and become an institution by itself. It's a place frequented by the locals but thankfully not many tourists know of this. Hence the price level is low and the food is great. Value for money at its best. You walk in through the old solid wood doors and come to a place that is at once charming and old age. The service was quick and efficient and friendly. All in all a great experience.

Yelp
The best money we've spent in Lisbon!
Food/Drink: Their 5.90 euro meal is definitely worth every penny and the best value for money we've seen anywhere. For 6 euros you get all the classic Portuguese foods of sausage sandwich, the green kale soup, a dessert, a drink, as well as a coffee!
Price: 6 euros for the menu but they also have a 3 euros option for just a sandwich and the soup.
Atmosphere: It's a very casual eatery - more like fast food restaurant than anything. There's plenty of indoor seating so make yourself comfortable!
Tips: They don't give you the coffee right away with the meal, rather you're supposed to go up and ask for it at the end of the meal - very European!

Yelp
The caldo verde really needs salt, but otherwise it's amazing! I just got the menu sopa, with just caldo verde and the chorizo bread. 3€50. The bread was piping hot, fresh out of the oven, filled with tons of chorizo. The service wasn't anything phenomenal but it's a STEAL! Lisbon was not nearly as cheap as I had anticipated so it was nice having a hearty meal. And you can tell this is what Lisbon is about. Lots of local workers were here getting food. Also, it's open super late! perfect late night food

Yelp
The price for what you get here is great. The atmosphere feels tavern like and I enjoyed that, but when it comes to the food, I'd say meh. The Caldo Verde was pretty bland. I've made better myself in fact. I will say though that their Pão com Chouriço was loaded with chorizo so no complaints there. It's also convenient that they are open during the night shift - 7pm-6am so if everything else is closed you know you can get a cheap and quick bite here.

Yelp
This is regular stop for a group I ride bicycles with. In my opinion it serves it's purpose without any pretension. The Pão com Chouriço is off the chain fantastic. It's the only thing I order. They do it very well. I usually order it with a beer and I'm good to go. Again, nothing elegant here, just really great Pão com Chouriço at a very low price. If you're hungry this is the place to go.

Yelp
Delicious traditional caldo verde soup with oven baked sausage sandwich. Tasty rice pudding. Good value for money.

Yelp
When you can walk into a restaurant drunk on a Tuesday (Wednesday) morning at 4 am and order kale soup and a chorizo sausage sandwich, you can't help but believe in a higher power...
