"This spellbinding, Cirque du Soleil–style production at Ho Chi Minh City’s Municipal Theater, also known as the Opera House, turns to rural Vietnam for its inspiration. Mixing muscular acrobatics, visual artistry, juggling, and modern dance, the show employs the materials commonly found in villages as the basis for its routines. Recurring motifs include the bowl-shaped coracle-style boats still widely used in the country, and bamboo poles (used for balancing and as tracks during one particularly confounding, Rube Goldberg–style, conveyor-belt-type passage). As memorable as the nonstop action on stage is the live music, dominated by the haunting sounds of the dan bau, or gourd lute."

A well-produced modern spectacle with outstanding service, though less acrobatic than alternatives. A polished, interactive show that is great for a comfortable, visually beautiful introduction to Vietnamese daily life with exceptional, attentive customer service. Note: The air conditioning is extremely strong, so bring a layer, and the show incorporates fewer traditional theatrical elements than some might expect. Best for those valuing a full-service experience in the historic Saigon Opera House, not just pure acrobatic thrills. Key Details: · The Service & Venue: The Lune Production team provides outstanding, proactive service (including great free cold tea). Watching the show in the beautiful Saigon Opera House is a major bonus, especially compared to venues with high entrance fees elsewhere (for example entrance to Hanoi Opera House is by a considerable fee) · The Show Itself: It focuses on romantic, everyday scenes of Vietnamese life rather than high-difficulty acrobatics. It's less intense and breathtaking than shows like Teh Dar in Hoi An, which focuses on wild highland culture, but the two offer complementary perspectives. · Practical Considerations: The air conditioning is extremely cold—a potential health concern. Some tourists might wish for more traditional Vietnamese theater elements in the modern production. Overall: It's a good, professionally executed show that offers a complete and comfortable entertainment package, justifying its value through service, venue, and its unique thematic focus.

Not worth the money - should have read other reviews before booking as that is a common theme. There is very little circus and acrobatics, probably all of them covered in the short trailer available online, rest is a music and local ways of life storyline. Would have liked to say the price is high due to the venue but it’s similarly priced even for the same show in Hoi An. The opera house is nice, but it’s more stunning from the outside than it is inside so in summary, I’d rate this a very optional thing to do or if you do go for it then keep the ‘circus’ expectations low.

Fabulous. High energy, engrossing, short vignettes depicting the development of Vietnam over the centuries, adding up to an hour. Very clever, sometimes funny, well worth it. The show is designed to be a visual / musical / dance spectacle and is captivating (some occassional english explanations would have helped but there is not much dialogue). People lined up to take photographs with the cast after the show.

The show was amazing, so much skill was displayed through out the show. There are some classical local music and story but also a lots of funny stories in between. The beatbox in the middle was very interesting! The speaker was terrible from the balcony section, you can hear a broken speaker from the right hand side facing the stage. Also they very strict with taking photos and videos and follow through when someone break the rules which nice to see. However I got point with Lazer twice with my watch so maybe put your smart watch in the bag?! You can take a photo with a team after the show which is very nice! Beautiful building! The online ticket come with welcome drinks which is unexpected as it didn't mention at the time of booking!

Absolutely incredible show! I see a lot of theater and it’s been a while since I’ve been truly in awe of what I’m watching. This was a 10/10 experience. There are two locations in Vietnam, definitely go to at least one!!

This was a great show. At time was a little hard for me to follow. Martial arts and acrobatics were amazing and the traditional style was a great experience. Show only went for 1hr, but was worth it. I booked tickets online in advanced, the process was easy, but needed to go to front counter to collect physical tickets.

The Opera House faces out onto Lam Sơn Square and is adjacent to the Hotel Continental Saigon and Park Hyatt hotels in downtown Ho Chi Minh City. The building is a well-preserved example of classic French architecture built in 1900. The façade is so picturesque. Whilst it only seats 500, it gets quite busy before the 6pm performance begins, but they do a 10min history talk about the building at 5pm for ticket holders to the show. Inside the seating is well laid out with two balcony levels, each with great views of the stage. Photos and videos of the performances is prohibited, which is great as it allows everyone to enjoy the experience. Trying to compare it to Cirque Du Soliel is a disservice to both. The AO show is an hour long continuous/streamless performance, that takes you on a visual journey from rural Vietnam through to the busy modern cities. The gymnasts use simple props amazingly woven into intense choreography, backed by traditional instruments & singing. It is extremely powerful and effective. We were blown away by the AO show, and I would strongly recommend anybody who is visiting Ho Chi Minh City to book tickets to a show as you will not be disappointed.

The first time I went to see a show with so many emotions. The show is about rural life, old fishing villages of Vietnam. The way of joking, tumbling is skillful. Especially the actors. You did a great job. Many people think the ticket price is quite high. But trust me, it's worth seeing. Try it once.
