A Padaria Farmhouse

We were lucky to spend a few days at Padaria Farmhouse in October and it was truly a special experience. The place is filled with warmth, care and a rare feeling of being at home. Maria creates a unique atmosphere through her attention to detail: persimmon juice for breakfast, freshly baked buns, a thoughtfully curated playlist, soft lighting in the living room, quiet elegance in every corner - and a cat peacefully sleeping in an armchair. All of this comes together to create a truly magical feeling of comfort and ease, as if you are at home. Thank you for this wonderful time. We will definitely come back.

A little gem of a stay! A Padaria Farmhouse is a true haven of peace, a little gem 1 hour away from Porto. We spent three wonderful nights there and loved every moment. Hyacinta and Maria are exceptional hosts, so warm and attentive. Their breakfasts are an absolute delight, and we also enjoyed a delicious homemade dinner one of the nights, everything prepared from scratch with care and flavour. They accommodated my daughter, who is vegetarian, which we really appreciated. Maria gave us excellent recommendations for how to spend our days: a scenic walk, lunch at a stunning vineyard, and two lovely restaurants for dinner just ten minutes from the lodge. Highly recommended, a perfect place to relax, enjoy, and feel truly welcomed.

The place is as lovely as the heart of Maria, the incredible host. Staying here feels like stepping into a timeless retreat : a beautifully curated home in perfect harmony with the surrounding nature. The homemade breakfast is delicious, and Maria is full of thoughtful recommendations. Thanks to her, we discovered hidden gems away from the more touristy spots and enjoyed wonderful local addresses. We can’t recommend this place enough and will happily share it with friends and family.

I can only agree to all the previous 5 star ratings. This farmhouse is the ideal place for winding down in nature and exploring the beauties of douro valley. Maria and her family are extremely helpful and will provide you the best host service ever including amazing breakfast, fruits and vegetables from the garden and very nice coffee. The double room with balcony is more like a suite and a true gem for that price!

This is such a gem in the Douro Valley. Maria and Jacintha are wonderful hosts and have made this farmhouse an incredible little peaceful haven. The house and rooms are tastefully decorated and the breakfast is a delicious spread every morning with homemade baked goods and jams and fresh fruit from the garden. We'll definitely be back!

We travelled through Europe for 2 months with our 6 month old baby and we can firmly say A Padaria Farmhouse was a highlight of our trip. We immediately felt part of Maria's magical family. A Padaria manages to balance a feeling of solitude but also community with the shared kitchen and living area, but private spaces in the rooms, balconies and gardens. Every morning we looked forward to the delicious breakfast of homemade preserves, freshly baked pastries and local produce. Maria had a great map of local recommendations on things to do, including a river swimming spot that was something out of a dream. Maria has a true talent in hospitality, we will be back to stay in the future.

An old house, beautifully restored. A place of simplicity, beauty, and peace. It's clear that the people there treat their work with great love. We stopped here for the night on a whim, but would happily return.
