Hubby and I ate dinner here while we were vacationing in the area. There are things that A-Pine does really well and some that could use a little improvement.
The staff was awesome! Very friendly, efficient, just the right amount of attention without being disruptive. The restaurant was also very home-y and extremely clean, including the restrooms!
As far as the food goes, they have a nice little salad bar. Nothing fancy, just standard iceberg, veggies, and dressings, but everything was fresh and tasty.
The fried chicken was pretty good, hot, juicy, and well-seasoned. We also liked the fried fish, although it did not seem like "cod," which is what we were told....more like perch. It was good, though. The warm pecan pie with ice cream was delicious!
Now for those things that could be improved....the corn that was served with my meal (no choices) was obviously canned and tasted like it. The mashed potatoes were okay, but nothing special, not sure if they were homemade or instant because the "gravy" poured on top of them dominated any taste there was. The thick dark brown gravy did not conjure up memories of homemade gravy made with real meat drippings, but it seemed to be either a mix or what came in a jar.
We ordered 2 beverages, 2 dinners (fried fish and chicken) and one piece of pie with ice cream. Our bill was $40.99, without tip, which we feel was pretty pricey.
