Our Favorite Resorts in New York For a Last-Minute Getaway

"If you’ve ever wanted to feel like you had your own Hamptons estate, here’s your chance. Once a home owned by both Donna Karen and Martha Stewart’s daughter Alexis, Room at the Beach was reimagined as a 10-room inn in 2019 by designer Lucy Weber. The grounds here are only an acre and a half, but they manage to feel like a natural escape surrounding guests with towering trees, a lovely garden, and an outdoor sauna. But if you find yourself in need of a little activity, the village of Bridgehampton, along with its shopping and dining, is just blocks away."

Stella on the reservations team is an absolute gem and so helpful, kind, and warm to deal with. She is a wonderful reflection of the property and just want to shout her out. Thank you Stella for all of your help and support. Highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a charming luxury vacation.

I would give this hotel 1 million stars if I could. Me and my family just stayed here for 5 days and we had the most amazing time. Not only is the property absolutely stunning… the staff is so friendly+kind. They offer free coffee+L&W pastries in the morning. The location is fantastic. We would go to The Golden Pear for breakfast and Almond for dinner. My son had so much fun playing under the redwood trees. This is truly a hidden gem. Traveling with a dog and a toddler is sometimes difficult but we felt at home+comfortable every single day. I’m very grateful to have been able to experience this magical place. Thank you for a wonderful time! We can’t wait to visit again.

Room size is sorely deficient. No place to put toiletries except on chest of drawers. Lamps on night tables were unplugged when we arrived. We plugged in and did not work. Night stand had to be used for everything. Too cramped. Coffee made by proprietor sucked but Nespresso machine in room was adequate. Rear area garden was overgrown so we could not sit in hairs without a pruning sheers to cut branches. Really deceptive advertisement for space. Really small area. Bed was good. Location good but $800 for room a night was not right when place was so small. When I asked for larger room Room size is not mentioned in website. AC blows directly on person closest to unit over window. When I asked for extra towels I had to go to “staff person” who gave to me but next day they removed the extra towels And did not replace. Breakfast was some ok muffins etc. You can hear next door guest having sex. Overall poor value but maybe that is Hamptons overpriced typical ripoff! Other than light switches. It working properly (switched plugs not indicated and staff did not plug in lamps so who the hell would know which outlet to plug into. Need I say more. When our friends asked where we were staying we had a good laugh because they knew how small the place was with no room to sit, drink coffee or eat the ok but not great muffins they gave us for breakfast. Also getting anything you asked for too a good while so if you expect real service forgetaboutit!

Google
10 room boutique hotel that feels like more like a luxury b&b. Beautifully manicured grounds with a nice pool and sauna. Free Rosé and water bottles, coffee all day, and free pastries in the morning. They’ll give you good quality chairs and towels, umbrella and a permit for the beach and even load your car for you. Swimming pool is great and the decor is top notch all around. Highlight is the service and staff.

This review is long overdue. I spent a few weeks at A Room At The Beach end of last summer 2021 for work and I must say I have nothing but good things when I speak on my experience. The staff was very helpful and sweet. Very accommodating. Rooms were clean and always set up nicely. Check in was easy and stress free. I’m definitely thinking of coming back this summer just to spend time in the area again!

The grounds are beautiful, location is great, bed was super comfortable, and the shower’s water pressure was amazing....BUT, upon arrival there was trash bag next to check in and dirty dishes outside other guest rooms that looked like they had been there awhile. And those items stayed for a day or so after we arrived. Our room overall felt uncared for. The dust build up on the ceiling fan was gross. The rug was so stained it should have been replaced. Details shine and are what make a stay great or lackluster. The attention to detail was Simply not present. Pool, outdoor spaces and furniture felt ignored and unkept. Overall, it felt like there was not enough staff or maybe a rough start to the season. This place has so much potential, but at the moment is lacking big time!

Google
Very nice garden, but unfortunately the room was not. Stained carpet, stained settee, stained upholstered bed. The black-out curtains did not cover the window entirely. The bathroom looked a bit tired, to put it mildly. There was not enough toilet paper, the coffee machine had to be carried to where the outlet was. The door handle on the door was totally crooked. Windows were not clean. All supposed to be so chic and trendy - what about maintenance?

I didn’t want to leave. We stayed last Sunday night and it felt like we had the place to ourselves. The owners are lovely and very accommodating. The pool felt like you were floating in a private backyard. The design of the whole place was perfect down to every detail. Walking distance to Bridgehampton restaurants and shops and a short bike ride or drive to the beach. They have bikes, towels, chairs and umbrellas to borrow too! My husband and I want to return this fall and make it an annual tradition to stay here.

Yelp
My husband, fur babies, and I just spent a few days over July 4th at A Room at the Beach. It is a serene boutique hotel run by wonderful, kind, generous and friendly people. I submitted a review on another review site but am brand new to it and wanted to add a little bit more and share my thoughts also on Yelp. I believe there are only ten rooms and that is fine with me. While in my room I never heard a peep from the other rooms. That was very impressive! I don't remember the last time I stayed in a hotel where that was the case. I know I heard ambulances but I think that was when I was outside. It didn't bother me. We could hear some of the fireworks from the beach but they were not that loud and didn't last for long. Lucy and Charles have about as much control over that as they do the weather. I'm not one who likes to be outdoors too much but I think I could spend all day under the trees reading a book. It's calming. Even if I didn't have a book to read I would find it calming listening to one of the fountains and watching the robot lawnmower. I'm rarely at ease never mind relaxed and I feel safe saying I was here. Do NOT be like me and overpack! The rooms are not the size of $3,000/night multi-room suites in Vegas but Lucy and Charles have utilized the space (of room nine at least) in an amazing way. At no point did I ever feel claustrophobic and I have a bit of that. Bring a little clothes steamer and you won't have to worry about unpacking and packing. I ALWAYS bring Charmin with me because every single place I go has cheap toilet paper. No one needs to pack their own Charmin because they have Charmin and I won't be bringing my own next time. If you're thirsty there's complimentary water. If water is not your thing and you are over 21, there is complimentary rosé. Parking is free. I'm looking forward to going back again! If it was this beautiful in the summer I cannot even imagine what it's going to be like in the fall!

Yelp
We REALLY want to like this place and support their business, but the top-level management is abysmal at communication and resolution...and we haven't even arrived! I have, in writing, an email stating a sizable refund due to us related to a change in the reservation. I have been waiting over two weeks for something I was told across two other dates, on two different occasions, would be resolved within 24 hours. I understand we all have been dealing with serious weather issues lately, and maybe that caused a delay, but it's not an excuse for obvious unprofessionalism and disregard from management or ownership. PRO-TIP...the gentlemen who spoke with me on the phone the other day, as one of their managers, told me "because of COVID," they no longer make rate adjustments for reschedules...it's a 1:1 night swap, regardless of a rate change. Hmmm. I'm not sure of the logic, given how wildly rates change in the Hamptons fluctuate BUT, it brings up a great opportunity. If this is their corporate policy, you should book during the off-season while this night-to-night swap is in effect and then reschedule for the summer. You will save thousands!

Yelp
I cannot say enough great things about this hotel. It exceeded every expectation I had going into the weekend. The grounds had the most incredible decor, creating the best atmosphere for our group. The amenities were unique -- you don't find many lodging options providing bicycles or beach passes. The staff was the most hospitable & accommodating -- it's not everyday that ownership will give you a call just to get to know you. The location was optimal -- a stone's throwaway from village-center, a bike ride away from Ocean Road Beach, and a quick drive to either Sag Harbor, Wolffer Wine Stand, Pox Golf Course, etc. The cleanliness, the quality, the cuteness, the price, and everything else in between were all impeccable. ARATB was the picture-perfect venue to the be the backdrop for my engagement weekend. I cannot wait to be back and be reminded of my favorite memories and to create brand new ones.

Yelp
This place is such a gem. My only compliant is I didn't stay long enough! Angela was amazing at check in and throughout the stay. We had the pool to ourselves and the grounds were beautiful. Each room has its own front porch area and we also had private backyard through our shower. Highly suggest staying here! Would make a gorgeous wedding venue as well.

Yelp
After Covid forced me to change plans, RATB agreed to schedule me for this past Friday. I arrived exhausted & Hungry & Greeted by Zoe - only when I said my name she said sorry you don't have a reservation? I did, but Zoe/Olivia did not finish my reservation like they should have. Zoe asked via email & I answered yes Via the same email to the accommodation, only (new girl) Olivia messed up by answering me and never actually made/completed the reservation! So Zoe said let me see what we can fix...after trying an owner who never answered because he was in another country - they finally decided to give us a room - *I will NEVER again stay anywhere that you can't get someone to answer a phone - ever - just an answering machine no matter how many times I called! I should never have trusted them via emails - and never will again!!! SHOCKING! Zoe's response was people make mistakes...true...but this mistake - having 2 people take the day off from work and drive 65 miles only be told sorry - we are overbooked - because someone forgot to make the promised reservation? Olivia/zoe should know this - There is only one chance to make a first impression!! Should I feel greatful they gave me a room after such an upsetting situation.. (not the one promised), maybe OR maybe not! - the room Zoe gave me was dirty, stains everywhere, the room had a terrible smell - my opinion is that it must have been from the dog next door or someone using the bathroom In the next room, (paper thin walls). With no where else to go for the night, this is what we accepted. Bad smell - now I know why there was a diffuser in the room when we walked in. awkward layout - to get to the sink you have to keep bumping into the vanity & garbage can in front of it... Also, the room is not safe in my opinion - No double lock or safety chains on doors and as I opened the door to the shower - I noticed another door to the outside on the other side of the shower!!! ????? Also, for no reason at all - we had just checked into the room she finally gave us, (after Zoe & the other reservations person couldn't get the key to work)...we had finally settled down & were "busy" - for no reason at all a staff member knocked on our door!!??? Anyone could have walked in on us!!!??? After I pulled myself together to answer - they had already walked away!!??? Never again. This was a tough learning experience- don't trust emails, don't trust that the room will be clean and look like pictures online, don't be so sure that just because they brand the room stay as luxury - doesn't mean it will be...Horrible.

Yelp
I couldn't ask for anything more Angela the manager is the friendliest person who helped us with everything I can't explain how accommodating she is in fact every hotel should have a manager half as good as she is , the grounds are beautiful and great for photos. Great place in bridge Hamptons and I will surely be recommending all my friends highly recommended

Yelp
This is the Most beautiful Boutique Hotel! It's a great place to soak up the simplicity and sophistication of the easy going life style of the Hamptons! Planning a special event The backdrop of the grounds make any events seem like the cover of an amazing magazine! This hotel is your next place to stay!

Yelp
Brand new, top to bottom. Place is like a dream. Close to beach, town, etc. you still feel like you are secluded. Gorgeous rooms and grounds.
