Travel Charme Kurhaus Binz (Binz, Rugen) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"This impressive building on the famous Seebrücke dates back to 1908. The rooms are comfortable and upmarket. There is a large wellness area, not to mention a spacious atrium-style lobby, the cosy Kaminzimmer (lounge with a fireplace) and the attractive Kakadulounge bar. The classically stylish Kurhaus restaurant complete with sea view serves regional and international fare, while Steakhaus offers grilled meats." - Tablet Hotels

We were passing here and a space opened up in a fab beach chair so we popped in for a couple of drinks and to admire the view from the terrace. Ended up sharing a delicious club sandwich as well. I’d also hoped to order an ice-cream sundae as the ones others were eating looked pretty good but they needed to pack up for an event. A shame we won’t be back in the area as I would certainly come in again. Staff were great, especially as our German language is limited to a couple of words! Recommended

Great location right on the beach promenade. Exceptional breakfast. Rooms were comfortable.||The cons:|Parking. No transparency in pricing. It was not mentioned at checkin that parking costs an extra €19 per day, so it was a complete surprise when it appeared on the final bill. When challenged, we were told it is always the case to charge. Why not just include it in the room rates?||Swimming pool (indoor). Just too cold to use.||The bar. Seemed understaffed. The same person was also dealing with the nearby restaurant which meant at times there was no-one there. As a result, ordering a simple beer took much longer than it should have done.

I recently had the opportunity to spend 10 days at the Travel Charme Kurhaus Binz, a hotel with a rich history and personality, located on the spectacular Rügen Island, specifically in the Binz area. This area is known for its large, clean, and well-maintained beach, and the hotel is perfectly situated in front of it. The rooms are spacious and well maintained, although there is room for improvement in certain aspects. For example, the beds creak and the bedding and pillows could be softer and newer. As for the reception staff at the hotel, although they are efficient, not all of them speak English, which can make communication difficult for international tourists. In addition, although they are efficient, they are not always friendly, which can affect visitors’ first impressions. However, I want to highlight that my experience with the staff in other areas of the hotel was very satisfactory. A special mention deserves the SPA staff. Even though they didn’t speak English well, they were so attentive that communication flowed smoothly. I requested three massage sessions and all were excellent. Don’t miss visiting them. On the other hand, the included buffet breakfast is spectacular, very varied and well prepared. The staff who attend to the breakfast are undoubtedly one of the best aspects of the hotel. They are efficient, attentive, and friendly, and even remembered my coffee preference before I requested it. Finally, the hotel’s terrace is a wonderful place to have breakfast, lunch, and have some drinks. It is always clean and well arranged, and the staff is efficient and attentive, always with a smile, which made us feel very good.

Kurhaus Binz is without a doubt "the grand old lady" in so-charming Binz, on the beautiful island of Rügen on Germany's Baltic coast - established more than 100 years ago, situated at the very heart of the town, hardly a stone's throw away from the sea with its nearly 400 metre long pier and equally appealingly sandy beach.|We - two couples at fully-grown age - spent three lovely days and nights at Kurhaus Binz in late April.|Delights were abundant: Excellent rooms with balconies towards the waterfront (utterly pleasant to go to sleep and then wake up to the gentle backdrop of ocean waves!). Truly exquisite breakfasts, with hardly anything else to wish for, e.g. including sparkling wine as well as several seafood specialities, in addition to the usual fare of scrambled eggs end the like. Also a delicious dinner one evening, a generous mixed fish platter with trimmings which we (all of us seafood lovers!) found absolutely gorgeous. And not least the pleasant Kakadu bar with its friendly barman, where we enjoyed more than one nightcap. And surely not to be forgotten, the impressive in-house spa where some of us swam both in- and outdoors in the vast pool and were also treated to a unique chalk-clay-cum-tea-etc experience (at a quite reasonable price). Also, arriving by car as we were did we found ample space both at the back of the hotel and in the underground garage with convenient lift access to our rooms. And, very last, very nice indeed to receive a bottle of German sekt at out departure, as this happened to take place on my birthday (well spotted, many thanks indeed!).|So why not 5 stars???|Well, for one reason only, Namely the reception desk. Hardly ever in later decades have we met such disinterested people as those we encountered at Kurhaus Binz' reception desk - not once, not twice, but all three times (with three different persons) that we had reason to contact them. They surely performed their paperwork duties (extensive they seemed), but did they ever even look at their guests? Maybe, maybe not. Did they ever offer a smile or a friendly word? No! To us they appeared almost as machines, putting their paperwork as a very unchallenged number one, followed by no number two, the poor customer resolutely put as distant number threes (or lower).|Had it been one person, this would have seemed to be a personal matter. With three out of three, it appears more generic. One of us, who has a background in hotel business, noted that the reception is something of "the sales window of a hotel".|So, after our generally so sweet stay at Kurhaus Binz, we nevertheless wonder: How do you want that sales window to look?|

Excellent food and service in the restaurant. Very nice breakfast. The view of the hotel is stunning. It sits just on the beach. Great secure parking area inside the hotel area. ||The hotel feels classic and the location in Binz could not be any better.

If you want to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of your everyday life, than the choice of Binz- Rugia and Kurhaus Hotel is an obvious choice. ||The hotel is situated opposite the beach, nevertheless is divided from it by a green strait of promenade, where no bicycles are allowed, so one can hear no irritating sounds of bicycle bells.||Once you get out of the hotel at the promenade just turn left and carry on for about an hour and you`ll get to Prora whereas if you turn right, another beautiful locality of Sellin seems to be ahead of you. - One could not dream of a better location for a place to stay. ||The hotel itself is beautiful, successfully marrying the modern maritime style with classical elements of equipment like the big spacious (!) wooden wardrobe in our room or the details of the shower unit in the bathroom. – True, the Arabic – in - style desk lamp in the room was slightly out of the order but the patterns it cast on the ceiling while I was writing postcards, were incredible. – The interior of the hotel is kept in white, grey and turquoise, to which only the grand piano in the bar (sexy red) and armchairs in the lobby (Purple) seem to be an exception. ||Our (standard) room was very spacious, with a balcony, which was looking out to a car park, but even so, the place was quiet, so, we didn`t feel any inconvenience about it. The room was very clean, with immaculate bed linen and towels.||I loved the breakfast buffet, served in the hotel restaurant, overlooking the sea. – I was very fond of delicious fruit and the best Bircher muesli I`ve ever eaten, though there were many more things like different kinds of smoked fish, eggs, cold meats, cheese, etc. What is more, you can always study the hotel newsletter put out on the tables in order to find out about the weather, or interesting facts and figures from the Island. ||The staff is incredible – very effective, quiet but seemingly non existant. – There are there when you need them, but otherwise you won`t meet them – except for the nice receptionists. ||A train station shuttle available.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Kurhaus for two nights. Our room was very spacious and had a small balcony. The bed was especially comfortable although I found the pillows a bit flat. Lighting in the room was excellent. Although the style is more traditional than modern, overall the room was a welcome retreat from the busy promenade. Minibar included in the price was a nice touch. Wifi was only 1-2 Mbps at times, just about enough to stream video but not ideal.||Breakfast was very good in the beautiful dining room. Service excellent as expected.||Location is unbeatable in Binz, right on the promenade at the pier.||Nice touches like a welcome drink, some little snacks at reception, welcome cocktails at the bar, water for the journey when leaving all make a difference.||The bar in the evening with a great any-request pianist was a nice place to spend time.||All told, a very good place to stay on Rügen.||If you found my review helpful I would appreciate your vote.|

Delighted with the time I spent in Kurhaus Binz last year, we decided to come back for a few days` stay. We were very happy to see that the difficult times (COVID – 19) did not influence the standards executed in the hotel. – Our room was exactly as beautiful as the one where we had been put up last year. Again, it represented both style and comfort, it was immaculately clean, with beautiful bed linen that was so white and wrinkless that everybody would love to have it at home. ||This time in the room - we were also offered free soft drinks which included mineral water – replenished every day.||Breakfast was served in the hotel restaurant and was as delicious as last year. – With various kinds of fruit, my favourite Bircher muesli and a wide choice of smoked fish, sausage and eggs, to which one could help themselves – clearly wearing a facial mask. ||Another thing that had not changed was the fact that in spite of the size of the hotel, one didn`t really get to meet any other people unless they want to. It was only in the hotel restaurant that we noticed that there were other holidaymakers staying at the hotel, too. – This was quite important in the COVID times… Speaking about other security measures in the hotel, there were disinfections liquids at each of the entrances and the guests were obliged to wear facial masks in public areas of the hotel, excluding restaurant tables. – This obligation was tactfully executed. – Staff wore the masks, too. – All this made us feel a little bit more secure and confirmed that things could get back to what they had used to be.
