A-Rosa Travemünde (Travemünde, Schleswig-Holstein) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It’s no secret that wellness hotels have become “a thing” — the German-speaking world was way ahead of the curve on this one. But even so, they’re not all created equal. Perched on the edge of the Baltic Sea, A-Rosa Travemünde offers a two-level, 4,500-m² spa space with just about everything you could ever need to relax, including a sauna, Kneipp hydrotherapy pool, Himalaya salt sauna, ice grotto, and Turkish bath. If you’re the more active type, there’s also the beach and everything that comes with it, like sailing, surfing, and snorkeling. The bright, spacious rooms are their own form of retreat — many feature balconies with picturesque seaside views. And while A-Rosa Travemünde hosts several tempting restaurants, its main attraction is the Michelin-starred Buddenbrooks." - Tablet Hotels

This was our second visit, we had a voucher to redeem, and overall it was a pleasant stay. The wellness area was great, the food was not bad, and staff were friendly throughout. However, checkout felt a bit impersonal — the receptionist didn’t ask about our experience and went straight to the invoice. For the room price, we expected a more thoughtful farewell.

My Honest Review – A Mix of Good and Disappointing Experiences I’ve stayed at many hotels and visited many destinations around the world. I’ve experienced some truly excellent accommodations — but I was quite surprised by this hotel. Despite paying a fairly high price for the room, there was no coffee machine, no kettle, no complimentary coffee or tea, and not even any cups or mugs in the room. If you want coffee maker, you have to purchase it — but not even available to purchase for us!!! which is quite disappointing for a hotel in this price range. I honestly didn’t expect such a basic service to be missing. This was my first time staying at this hotel. Normally, when I stay at a quality hotel, someone helps carry the luggage to the room. But here, we had to carry everything ourselves — no staff assistance was offered at all. I understand that some hotels in Europe, even 4-5 stars, may not offer porter service, but for a hotel of this standard, it’s something that should definitely be available. Frankly, the lack of a coffee maker, kettle, and cups was very disappointing and unacceptable. I strongly suggest the hotel improve this aspect. That said, there were also some positive points: the room was clean, comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. For Asian travelers: be aware that in Germany, if you want to use the sauna, you are required to be completely nude — otherwise, you won’t be allowed to enter. This might come as a cultural shock, so I suggest the hotel consider offering private or modest options if they want to welcome more international guests.

The hotel is really beautiful, rooms, spa area. We spent there really nice time. Breakfast was really good with a wide range of choices, also healthy bio options. I hope we will visit this place again.

The room was dated even though nice, no addition next to bed for charging your phone which is standard today. Breakfast was lovely. Nice Spa area

Disappointed returning after 9 months and the feeling was different |You return to a hotel you previously rated very hig just to find out that the whole experience is let down by housekeeping ||I can live with the fact that coffee facilities are not provided in the standard rooms - poor compared to international standards but normal I Germany||The rooms could do with a housekeeping manager and not the eyes of a subcontractor||The promised facilities was not at hand but provided bit by bit within our two day stay||The rest of the facilities are very good and in particular the people in the restaurants are giving an excellent service and the food is very delicate and the spread is fantastic ||One could say that the staff could do with a bit of help by the management tea

We stayed in the old part of the hotel in a suite for 5 nights. We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are a bit dated but comfortable. The toilet had a bit of a sewer smell but not bad. I didn't enjoy trying to figure out the light switches. The spa was lovely and peaceful. The main restaurant food was delicious.

Very nice classic hotel with wellness and mixed spa area. The surroundings have not much to offer. The bar area have an awful bad acoustic they have to do something about, as people cant either talk or even hear the music (a pianist when we where at the place) so most people lieve or go to ther room.

This spa hotel is simply the best! From the moment we walked in we were greeted by genuinely friendly, helpful and well-informed personnel. Reception was extremely welcoming and clear in their communication. Our room was fabulous, and just what we ordered (penthouse suite with sea view), and clean as can be. The spa was much larger and more impressive than we expected. Being able to swim from the indoor pool to the outdoor (heated) pool on a cool October day was fabulous! The service and food at the bar were excellent, especially with entertainment every evening we were there. The breakfast and dinner room was tasteful, bright and well ordered, especially booking a time in advance and having a table waiting and a server ready to take your beverage order within minutes. So many hotel breakast rooms are chaotic, but this one had everything in order. The only thing I might do different if I were king of the hotel would be to focus on improving the dinner buffet. It was difficult to put together a complete meal -- there are certain things, like rice, that should always be offered, for example -- and the pasta dishes were not warm. By the way, the location is amazing with the beach prominade directly in front of you and the town center a lovely 10 minute walk away. This was our first visit to A-Rosa Travemünde but it won't be our last.
