Google
Amazing food, great friendly service! We stop here every time we’re in Burlington for the mock eel! I’m super happy that they added the tasting menus; I was worried going there with just two people that we wouldn’t be able to try a lot of things, but the tasting menus (a meat menu and a vegetarian menu) let us try everything while we were there for our anniversary. Love the atmosphere, and the food and drinks were delicious!

Google
We absolutely love A Single Pebble! The service is always incredible and so is the food! Reservations a must! I love all of the delicious vegan options! Everything is family style with large portions. My favorites are the salt and pepper tofu, the scallion pancakes, the vegan Buddha beef. You can't go wrong with anything you order here!

Google
We had the tangerine chicken, chicken pad Thai, potato dumplings & veggie dumplings in chili oil! Everything was very good - huge portions meant for more than one person. Everything comes to you on a lazy Susan type of thing and things just come out as they’re ready. Very fresh! Staff was attentive and helpful, very friendly. The turtle cheesecake is a must! Just a note for fellow wheelchair users - call in advance and ask for a table on the first floor, there are only a few down there and they fill up! The other two sections of the restaurant are only accessible by stairs. Great dinner and a nice night!!

Google
Amazing on all fronts. Tons of dishes that are/can be vegan and/or gluten free. Do not miss the mock eel; I was skeptical but i promise you will be happy. I can’t even remember everything we ordered but every dish was delicious and had a unique flair. It was fun to have it family style and try so many things!

Google
I believe I last ate here somewhere between 15-20 years ago - time flies. I remember the food being outstanding so we got the tasting menu which was something like $80/person to see what had changed over the years. I'd eat here again but I wouldn't get anything on the tasting menu except for the double garlic broccoli (this was the best part of the meal). Everything else was moderately bland. Instead next time I think we'd try something like the tangerine chicken. A lot of the dishes that are part of the tasting menu sound great, not sure if it is just time to rethink the flavors / improve them? Service was great - very responsive. Atmosphere was okay. Maybe we just caught the chef on a bad night?

Google
Reservations are highly suggested [parties of 2+] but bar seating is always an option for impromptu dinning. Weekday dining is less busy than weekends. ALL menu items are fantastic. Dining area is intimate & welcoming. Wait staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Drink options are mildly limited but very well made. Minimal wait time for ordered food, as it is brought out as its finished. Food was hot and delicious. Both fork and chop stick options for eating. Personalized chef curated tasting menu is also available.

Google
Arguably the best Chinese food in the state, and you are going to pay for it. This place is not cheap. The vegetarian dishes are amazing. They use a lot of salt and I am guessing MSG so you will be sucking down water before it is all over. I've eaten here twice and enjoyed it both times, but on my budget this is a special occasion place.

Google
I don’t often give low reviews but honestly not sure what all the hype is about. Been a few times now. Food is OK, we got the mock eel, bao buns, and beef special. The bao buns were the best. The mock eel and beef special were both on the saltier side. For how expensive each dish was, I was expecting better. I think the best thing to do is the tasting menu where you get a ton of dishes but for $90 something a person that seemed steep…

Yelp
We were in Vermont for 4 days and this was hands down the best meal we ate while in town. I wish it was our first night so we could be chowing on leftovers all 4 days! The restaurant ambiance is exactly what you'd want for a classic Asian place. Slightly old, yet styled in the perfect decor. Many maroons and tans, deep wood tables, all with lazy Susan's for the best family style dining. The service was fabulous. Our waitress was knowledgeable about each dish and recommended many options to us, all were delicious. We definitely got way way more food than we needed, but it allowed us to try so many dishes! Everything was fabulous. I'd be dining here weekly if we lived in town. Cocktails were tasty and fun to order based on the authentic nature of each one. Glass noodles, two chicken dishes, Asian cucumber, dumplings, gyoza, a beef dish (cooked to perfection and our favorite dish).

Erica A.

Yelp
Had one of the best meals I've had in a long time here. I was surprised I got a table but so glad! The service was impeccable. Great vegan options and so filling. Yes it's pricey but you get what you pay for. Highly recommend the mock eel dish.

Melissa C.

Yelp
I get the Buddha's beef and it is one of my favorite dishes. I always visit this restaurant when back in Burlington. Service is always good, though I find it most helpful when staff ask how someone wants something prepared vs. Assuming we want the average /less amount of spice than would be typically prepared with. There is something on the menu for everyone here. Food is served as it is ready vs all at once. This food is much nicer than fast food Chinese but I do not know enough to know if it does traditional Chinese food justice. Relaxing setting.

Kent S.

Yelp
The setting is Burlington quirky! It's a converted house with a few separate rooms and if stairs are a problem this might not be the place for you. The service was attentive and I have no complaints. The food comes out when it's ready and there is a handy lazy susan top on the table to access the food choices. The green beans were excellent as well as the dumplings and pork we had. As mentioned in other reviews it was strange to see wash buckets out in the dining room! The prices are for shared dishes and a bit on the higher end but we all enjoyed our time there.

Yelp
Recommended by a friend and our first visit. We ordered the tasting menu and a pot of sake. Very delicious but brought home a lot of food. It was a great way to learn the menu but now I know my favorites and would stick with those for a better value. I probably wouldn't have tried sesame beef made with seitan but so glad it was part of the tasting because it was crazy good and now I'll definitely get it again. Their sauces really take the dishes to the next level even on simple dishes like spring rolls and dumplings, the sauce took it over the top. Service was amazing. Many servers kept bringing food, clearing the table, filling water and asking about the food. Ambiance was upscale. I've read some mediocre reviews on yelp and I'll say it depends on what you order. I didn't try any of the meat dishes so I can't comment on that... but we'll definitely be back.

Yelp
This is nit the place to go if you have celiac or a shellfish allergy. All their food is cooked in the same fryer. My granddaughter has celiac and was disappointed with the limited items she could eat on the menu. My son has a shellfish allergy so most items on the menu, including the specials were off limits for him due to cross-contamination from the cooking method. I'm am very grateful to our waitress, who provided excellent service and was very upfront about the cooking.

Yelp
Yelp seems torn about whether A Single Pebble is the greatest restaurant in Burlington or actually quite terrible. I am here to tell you that they are both wrong: it is a heaping pile of mediocrity . To be clear, nothing we got was terrible. It was all different kinds of average. The general tso's cauliflower was too breaded and the sauce was like every other general tso you've had. But it was fine and I ate it. The chicken fried rice was really bland and we mostly left it alone. The chicken dumplings were the saddest thing we ate: mushy, bland and small. The lo mein was the most flavorful thing we had. Like some of you, I read the gushing reviews here and elsewhere and found myself asking if these people have ever eaten Chinese food before. Hell, the couple next to us was doing backflips over their food, ooh'ing and ahh'ing with every forgettable bite. I didn't ask them, but I'm fairly certain they would give Panda Express a Michelin star. If you've had great Chinese food before, don't go here. If you are blown away by a poor man's PF Chang's, you've come to the right place.

Eva O.

Yelp
Food was sort of greasy and for that price nothing should feel that way. Service was good. Ambiance could've been a little better couldn't hear the music that was being played

Crystal R.

Yelp
Make a reservation! Food is served family style on lazy Susans. Favorites were Buddha beef (not beef), Red Oil chicken, and fake eel but everything in our order was amazing. I would definitely make this a regular go-to if we lived in Burlington. Run, don't walk to this place! You won't be disappointed.

Kim C.

Yelp
The most delicious food. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable about all the dishes. From the street you would never know what an spectacular place it is until you walk through those doors and into the most amazing place to eat in Vermont.

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
I was staying at the hotel nearby for a few days and kept walking by this place wanting to try it. I came in super late, they were kind enough to take me. Service was super fast, everyone was really nice working here and it seemed very genuine. I recommend the mock eel- made of mushrooms and really delicious. I also got scallion pancake and cucumbers, the cucumbers had zero flavor and the pancakes were not really good. I was starving so inhaled it anyway. I would prepare to spend a good deal of money and def get the mock eel. Plenty of vegan options

Carmel C.

Yelp
We got the nice course menu for 6 people, $600 later, the memory of the food faded due to the price. Everything was rapidly delivered, maybe a little too fast but all dishes were delicious with 2 pots of tea

Yelp
Ate here about a month ago and somehow forgot to write a review about the most incredible experience I've had in a restaurant and for over two years. I believe our servers name was Josh, who lend us on a journey through food and drink. He was lively in every way! We popped in after a last minute road trip from Saratoga, and we able to snatch a two - top bar seat without a reservation. We were greeted warmly, which was nice despite no reservation and being in hiking boots. My partner and I did the vegetarian tasting menu (I'm vegan, he's not) and wow wow wow was it worth every penny. I won't bore you with every detail, but the food here is exceptional. Made with love and care, every dumpling has a story and each sauce is crafted to compliment them. I was blown away by the service, attention to detail, and valiant flavors of Asia. This will be an experience I never forget - I promise that.

Lola C.

Yelp
First, I gotta say I'm not American. So I don't eat "American" Chinese food. If you are looking for authentic "AMERICAN" food, (e.g. general tso's chicken) this is def not the right place and def not worth the money. this place is more Taiwan style. I came here to have my dou hua. It's not the best I've had but def acceptable. (Yes it sucks to be East Asian in VT) But it's the only place that serves relatively more authentic Chinese food in Burlington. I even found some of the food way too salty for me (e.g. 3 cup chicken/tofu) instead of "bland", which was complained in many comments. But I guess it's bc we order completely different food. it's really nice to have so many vegetarian alternatives at a Chinese restaurant!!! Really love this part.

Yelp
I can't beleive I'm writing a less than stellar review for A Single Pebble but I felt I must relative to their prices. We've been there many times but not recently because it's very hard to get a reservation. So, my wife had an appointment in Burlington and we decided to order take-out. We ordered the Tangerine Peel Chicken, Dry Fried Green Beans, and Chicken Dumplings. Initially I was shocked at the prices - total of $82.28 but remembered that they serve "Family Style" and each time we're there the servings are large so I assumed the prices were reflective of this for take-out too. Well, when my wife got home I was shocked again at how SMALL the portions were. I'd bet, for example, there was not even a full chicken breast used to make the Tangerine Peel Chicken for $38.00? I'd venture to guess it cost less than $8.00 to make as I'm very familiar with the costs of products from wholesale food service companies. Geez it was just chicken, oranges and spices! The other two items were also very small. The quality was as we expected and very good but they just can't justify such small portions at those costs. It's sad because I have raved to many people about this place and it's even more sad that we will unlikely ever eat there again. Sure other chinese restaurants food isn't as good but for the costs at A Single Pebble you could easily get DOUBLE the food elsewhere. For example, they offer "Emperor's Beef" for $44.00! Really - for beef strips and vegetables and spices?! I found it funny the title under the main dish menu states "Big Dishes"! Gosh if they call their portions BIG I'd hate to see what their SMALL dishes are?! Anyway, I hope this review both helps them understand and appreciate that while the food is top notch they can't in any way justify their current prices and I hope it helps other patrons realize BEFORE they make the mistake I made that the quality no way justifies the exorbitant prices. Sadly I no longer can rave about A Single Pebble!

Lauren M.

Yelp
It was so average. I hate leaving negative reviews, but I am shocked that people rave about this when there was absolutely nothing great about it. The chicken dumplings were mushy; the fried rice had very little flavor, and the General Tso's "Chicken" (cauliflower) was overly breaded. The best thing we had was the Chicken Lo Mein. We wanted to love this place because it's in a cool little house, offers inventive vegetarian options, and some of the reviews went on and on about the authenticity, but it missed the mark on that for us. Our server was nice, though, and the whole dinner was quite quick (which we enjoy).

Billy C.

Yelp
Amazing experience! Larger than expected with cozy little sections around each corner. Good vibe. Staff were friendly and quick and helped each other. Our family shared the great dishes brought out as they were ready. Highly recommend A Single Pebble.

Matt B.

Yelp
After hearing about what was supposed to be one of the best Chinese restaurants in Burlington, VT I eagerly made reservations as soon as they were available. At long last, the night had arrived and we made our way to A Single Pebble. Honestly, I wanted to love this place so bad but my experience just wasn't the greatest. I liked the design of the place okay and thought the downstairs seating area with the outside patio in view was kind of cool. I suppose the Lazy Susans on each table are not something you see every day but the food itself just wasn't what I anticipated. I will say, the beef wontons were good. They were fried well, hot and paired together well with the ginger vinegar sauce included. The filling inside was quite flavorful as well. My main complaint was with the mock eel (mushrooms) we ordered which was extremely (and I mean extremely) salty. The dish itself was marred by the amount of pure saltiness in each bite, very offputting to say the least. We also had the water beef which seemed to be just that, blandly seasoned vegetables and beef in a dish full of hot water. We were told the presentation was beautiful but the taste hardly reflected that. I suppose I'll end on a good note and say that our final dish, the tangerine peel chicken, was quite good. Each piece of chicken was well seasoned and tasted sweet and tangy. This is the dish I would probably go back to if I ever went back to A Single Pebble but honestly, save your money and order in somewhere else. Overall, I was disappointed, especially after paying almost $100 for what I considered subpar, overly salty, and at the same time underseasoned food.

Yelp
On May 11, my wife and I had an exquisite meal. We got the sampler, nine portions of meals the kitchen had on hand. It was expensive ($150), but the price was justified. By the end, with tip, we had paid almost $300, which was a shock to us, but since we didn't ask about the price of the meal, we couldn't really argue. We were very happy but the memory was spoiled. I need to report this on Yelp because the owner needs to know that her behavior lacked integrity, because it impugned my integrity to preserve her own. On the prior Wednesday, May 8, I was walking home and as I was about to pass A Single Pebble, remembered that my wife's birthday was coming up and she wanted to go to A Single Pebble. Being unhurried, I turned up the steps to their entrance, walked in and was greeted by a young woman dressed in black, who asked if she could seat me. I informed her that I was there to reserve two seats. She went to the greeter's station, mentioned some times, and I agreed to a time on a Saturday night. Not every memory is crystal clear, but here is the moment of dispute: She told me she would need $20 per seat to reserve, and a credit card. I pulled $40 out of my wallet and gave it and my card to her. I remember thinking, and might have said, but certainly assumed, "This will be credited to my bill of course?". She said "Yes". She returned to the greeter's station and fiddled on the computer, we issued our thank yous, and I left. Saturday came and we were on time, had our meal, paid and left. I grabbed the receipt for the meal on a lark, and looked at it later when I got home. There was no mention of the $40. So finally on Wednesday I returned to inquire about it. I told the owner about paying $40 for the reservation, and before I was finished explaining, the owner said "No you didn't". I was flabbergasted. "Of course I did. I took two twenty dollar bills out of my wallet and handed them to her. Why would I lie?". It went on like this for several minutes. Multiple times she said "I don't believe you." She told me "I don't train my people to do that." She implied that the greeter was a fraud who happened to look like an employee and wasn't. Asking me to describe her, which I did, she said "No one who looks like that works here." I was completely flummoxed and asked "Do you realize that I won't be able to return here?" She said "fine. Don't come back." Had the owner believed me, had the owner merely pretended to believe me, displayed some curiosity, investigated and not been convinced that I lost $40, this would be a story about the concierge stealing $40, and creating a reservation in my name to make it look like I made the reservation myself from home. But instead, this is a story about a restaurant owner who refused to even consider whether her employee had cheated a customer, had blamed the customer, broke a relationship with a neighbor and fan of long standing, over $40, after we paid almost $300 for our meal. We will never enjoy another meal at A Single Pebble. We are so sorry. They produce supreme Chinese cuisine. I don't know why she chose to disbelieve me. Did she assume I would steal or scam her at first chance? Did she think I was a well dressed drug addict? Did she just think I was a down-rank plebeian, undeserving of the courtesy of being believed? With certainty I can say, she had no problem breaking the assumption of trust with which I made the reservation. By not believing me, she sheltered a petty criminal.

Stephanie T.

Yelp
This place is a scam. DO NOT recommend. This place is far from authentic. It's very overpriced, underwhelming American Chinese food. We got the Tangerine (Orange) Chicken ($29) and the Emperors Beef ($35) for 2 of us. Both dishes were very bland - while it was all edible, the mediocrity of the dishes made the price completely unjustified. Very bland and spiceless and insanely overpriced. You would be better off going to your local Chinese spot and paying half the price. We wanted to like this place and ignore the bad reviews but it is just not worth it.

Gabby C.

Yelp
so so bland. I just couldn't even believe they put this on a plate and said this was worth more than $10. I think you could get bettter chinese food from a mom-pop shop down the road LOL...it was just so dissapointing!!!! We got 2 plates that were the most popular and they were so meh. Lacked so much flavor, garlic was burnt and in crumbles, the tangerine chicken had 5/10 flavor. Just overall bland and not worth the hype. Not a lot of college kids come here, mostly basic Burlington people who are used to bland food. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

Jay M.

Yelp
Delicious food, so happy to experience a chinese place that will happily accommodate vegan preferences. We had the mock eel and the thai curry soup- it was so much food for two people that we had to take it home. One of the rare occasions that I'm excited to come back and try everything else on the menu

Ellen M.

Yelp
The space is wonderful for an intimate dinner or for larger groups. We ordered the chefs menu samples and were not disappointed by the quality, amount or variety of all the dishes! The service was perfect.

Jay N.

Yelp
Phenomenal. My wife and I were used to Chinese food in Chinatown in NYC, so finding anything comparable in the Burlington area was fruitless (and we looked everywhere)... until last night. We had the scallion pancakes as a starter and they were sublime: perfect balance between the slightly crispy exterior and the soft interior. Savory with a slightly sweet complimentary sauce. I had the Buddha Sesame Beef (Seitan): with a crispy exterior and intricate sauce, it even had my non-Vegan wife stealing food from my plate. My wife had the shrimp fried rice that she raved about. Our waiter was a terrific kid, professional and kind. The only downside was the pricing: many of the entrees are a bit expensive, in the $30+ range. We had a wonderful time and look forward to going back and trying more options from the menu.

Hannah M.

Yelp
Most amazing place in Burlington. Traditional Chinese food with vegan options that are to die for. The servers are so lovely and made the experience even more delightful (Misa specifically but everyone else we interacted with was great too). I would highly recommend the Buddha Sesame Beef. It's vegan but you would never know. The green beans were my favorite part of the whole meal. Crispy, so much flavor, and perfectly cooked. It's a great place and you definitely can't go wrong. While it's a bit on the pricier side, the portions are huge. It's worth the splurge.

Linda B.

Yelp
Was ok. Nothing special. Ordered the chefs creation for the table. Was rather bland. Overpriced at $40 per person.

Eunice L.

Yelp
More of 3.3 to 3.5 star but not quite 4. Close to the authentic experience. They have tables that have things like lazy susan, which was fun. Their oolong tea was great. The pictures on the wall were interesting and inviting. I liked Cha Shao bun, but their Tan Tan Mien was lacking flavors a little bit. Have not had Tan Tan Mien in Burlington area so cannot compare to any other restaurants in the area but it was a bit disappointing to me. Other food items were good - Lemon sesame chicken was delicious. The servers were very friendly and the atmosphere was good as well. Made a reservation using Resy. Overall experience was good.

Robin R.

Yelp
Anytime I am in Vermont- I eat at A Single Pebble. I am a NY girl so I know good chinese food and this restaurant never disappoints us! We were greeted warmly by the owner of the establishment who was so kind and welcoming! The waitress we had was bubbly, kind and pointed us in the right direction in what to order! The service was top notch! We loved sitting outside on their patio on a beautiful summer evening! The food was delicious and each bite melted in my mouth. The portions were generous! My husband and I had a great experience at this amazing restaurant and we look forward to going back again next time we are in Burlington!

Callie R.

Yelp
scrum! the mock eel was soooo good and I don't usually like mushrooms! also the double garlic broccoli was also a favorite. Our bartender Ryan was super kind and made it a great experience!! The host was also super accommodating and made sure we were able to get a seat at such a coveted restaurant! the pebble was delicious as well

Heidi J.

Yelp
My son and I enjoyed the tasting menu! We particularly enjoyed the rice cakes! The service was top notch and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming!

Yelp
Mixed review: Really Good Overall, but Big Bummer at the End I have been dining at A Single Pebble since I was a child and it was located in Barre. I have also LOVED dining at A Single Pebble for at least 15 years now. Mock eel and green beans are favorites, and the hot and sour soup makes you realize that you can never again have that from a generic Chinese restaurant. Why 3 stars? I got takeout recently while staying in a hotel for a staycation. I ordered something new, Ants Climbing a Tree. This dish is delicious flavor-wise, and I love a good cellophane noodle dish. HOWEVER, the pepper that was used is SO GRITTY that I had to call the restaurant and ask "is it possible the mushrooms were still dirty? It is too gritty to eat. Can you ask the kitchen?" In response to this question, the person I was speaking to said "Oh, yeah, we get asked that a lot. It isn't dirt, it is just the pepper we use that is super fine." So, my question is... if people often ask "Hey, is this dirt in my dish or...?" why do they still use this pepper? Or put this as a warning on the menu. It feels in your teeth like your food has sand in it (you know, beach day sandwich), or that feeling when you eat eggs and there was shell in it. I was unable to eat this dish at all. I would have appreciated being offered something for this... because if I was AT the restaurant, I would have (embarassingly, because I hate doing this) sent it back. I struggled through a few bites, because that FLAVOR is SO GOOD, but the sand-in-my-teeth feeling made me have to stop. I will be reaching out to the restaurant to overtly ask for a refund or a free dish, as this wasn't offered and I did have to then order a different meal from elsewhere because I couldn't eat this dish.

Philip M.

Yelp
Always a treat!!! We eat here about once a month and have the same wonderful experience each time. The dishes labeled large are exactly that and can easily provide an entree for 2-3 people. We especially enjoy the 'meat alternative' options on their menu.

Nade A.

Yelp
Excellent for vegetarians! Double Garlic Broccoli is a must, as well as the Scallion pancakes! They are famous for their seitan dishes. Great service.

Carolyn S.

Yelp
Just a heads up - I ordered the spring rolls at the fair last Saturday. When I bit into one it was SOOOO hot that I burned the inside of my mouth badly. Went to the doctors today, a week later, and it is not infected but she said it was the worst mouth burn she had ever seen. Taking a long time to heal. Just be aware I would hate for this to happen to someone else.

Patrick M.

Yelp
I've wanted to try A Single Pebble dating back to when I was at UVM in the early 2000's so it pains me to give them a mediocre review. However, the only thing that stood out there was the service, which was amazing. All other aspects were underwhelming. My partner and I were in Burlington for a special occasion so when we went here we opted to splurge and go with the 9 course tasting menu which is $50 a person. It started off with an handful of pickled carrots which we didn't even realize was a course at first. It got better from there but not much. The remaining courses ranged from fine to bland and the portions were small. I didn't expect to be hungry at the end of a 9 course meal but neither of us were satiated so we ordered some dumplings. Those were honestly better than anything else we had but no better than the steamed dumplings you get at an average Chinese restaurant. I'd love to give them another chance but given the price we paid for just average food I can't see going back the next time we're in Burlington.

Ryna D.

Yelp
We decided to have dinner here after drinks and oysters at the Farmhouse. The food was excellent and I was honestly a little surprised. Ordered a few dishes along with the Peking duck. Everything was very good. We were quite full and even had leftovers to take home. Definitely glad we stopped in!

Ken P.

Yelp
Not a single Asian customer when I visited. Not a single employee who spoke Chinese. Despite claims of this being an authentic Chinese restaurant and a website that says otherwise, the actual chef/owner is a white man who can't cook Chinese food to save his life. He "visited" China multiple times so he feels that justifies charging double or triple regular prices for dishes like Mapo tofu. In elevated Chinese restaurants, that Mapo tofu might be made with lobster or foie gras. Here, you pay over $20 to prove how white you are. If you've never been to a Chinatown before, you might be impressed. Dishes like the overhyped mock eel are overly salty. Waitress here didn't even know the difference between soy sauce and vinegar when I asked for the latter for my dumplings. I asked multiple times what ethnicity the chef was and where he was from with the waitress avoiding the answer again and again until finally confessing he was white. It's not a disqualifier, but in a town that's 95% white, definitely looks and feels like cultural appropriation when you don't hire any Asian servers or kitchen staff. The "tasting menu" that changes all the time by the way, never changes. If you really want authentic Chinese, Burlington has Hong's Dumplings where the Chinese owner and her mother make the dumplings right in front of you because they don't need to hide who they really are. If you're a local or a tourist reading this, please support an actual Asian owned business instead of pretending to by putting money into the hands of a white man ripping off their culture badly.

Lydia K.

Yelp
Solid Chinese food with some interesting vegetarian options. If you know high quality Chinese - especially Szechuan - cuisine, you will not exactly be blown away (my husband and I have both traveled/lived in China) so we liked it well enough but did not think it lived up to the hype. Maybe we did not order the right dishes? Scallion pancakes were mostly pancake, almost no scallion, spicy cucumber was nice but slightly bland, vegan dumplings were good. Salt and pepper tofu was mostly salty but nice crispiness, but the sautéed Chinese veg was pretty good. They did have jasmine tea which was nicely presented in a Chinese teapot. Attentive and very friendly service. I would say go there if you want more than a Chinese fast food place but do not expect Chinese haute cuisine.

Yelp
$35 dollars for stir fried beef and $29 for orange chicken - both very mediocre. If you want tasty American Chinese food, support a different small business - this place is just cosplaying as a traditional Chinese restaurant & price gouging their customers

Yelp
Mostly authentic Chinese restaurant that's not take out. Snagged one of the last tables as a walk in on a busy night, so points for that. Pretty run of the mill otherwise, was hoping for a bit more. Coat closet is immediately to left when you walk in. Waiter brought a dish of peanuts, wasabi peas and almonds to nibble on while we waited. Server was nice and patient as he could be, while being bombarded with lots of questions about spice level (everything can be made to order). Saketini was strong. Sipped on it the whole meal, was delightful. Cucumber salad was big portion and not spicy, but rather peppery. Chef's dumpling was watercress and didn't care for the very undercooked and not much filling chewy sacks that came out. Peking Duck with muchi pancakes, scallion and cucumbers was out of this world. Duck itself was chopped and shaved making it easy to put into pancakes. No crispy skin, wah. Dipping sauce could have been more flavorful. Came with a frayed scallion to brush on pancakes which I love. Out of all, Peking was best. Ambiance - pretty big inside. Definitely spacious dining room and you have room to move around. Standard Chinese settings, down to the plasticly table cloth and lazy susan in the center of the table. Chopsticks, because duh. Definitely a larger group (6+) dinner spot.

Yelp
This place is the bomb, service is excellent, place is clean and professional. The food is great, any meal can be made vegetarian and we vegi'd it up! The seitan is glorious, the flavors were wonderful, I highly recommend this place for finer dining that is geared towards family style. Misa was great, very patient and kind :)

Yelp
A Single Pebble has been on my Burlington restaurant wish list for years. I was so excited to go...I even knew what I was going to order: the Chef's Tasting Menu...pricey but no matter. I was all in for a great dining experience! We were in town last Saturday and the only reservation I could get was 5:15 - stupid early for a special dinner out but no matter. It must be really great if they were so booked up! The space is inviting, the service was prompt, the food was awful. Eight or nine courses came and went and nothing...not one dish...was even close to good. Even though we ordered the meat eaters' version of the menu, only two dishes had any kind of animal protein. The others consisted of what appeared to be leftover veggies repurposed into bland bites with sauces straight from a can or jar. Nothing was exceptional. Hot dishes were lukewarm and cold dishes were room temp. The worst part was that, even when dish after dish left our table with only two bites taken, not a single server asked if everything was to our liking. It seemed like the kitchen's disregard for our experience was passed along to the servers. "Get 'em in, get 'em out, to hell if they like it." Super disappointing after all the hype. Won't be back.

Yelp
Overrated! This has always been a special celebratory spot for our family. It's been a few years since we dined here due to Covid, but our memory of A Single Pebble was always very positive. We found the food to be very good, and the prices reasonable. We had previously enjoyed the chef's sampler menu and as a family of 4, it worked out to be about $50 a person (reasonable for a "special" meal). Tonight, we enjoyed the same menu, (different dishes but the exact same idea, and the price much to our surprise was almost double!! There were no prices listed for this so, while it really was on us to ask, ... We assumed it would be about $200 but honestly, it was almost $100 per person!! I have to say, if I am going to eat at that price point, I want the food to be extraordinary and while it was good, it was definitely not worth what we paid tonight. I'm not sure we will be back here sadly.

Yelp
Very flavorful but way to expensive. For two people it was $165 with tip! I didn't think it was worth that and I won't be returning

Yelp
This place was great and talked us through our many choices. They were patient while we figured out all of the things we were ordering (for a group, you will end up getting 6-8 things). It was so easy to order things vegetarian for our pescatarian guest. I highly recommend this restaurant and would encourage you to get the chef's specials.

Yelp
Sadly this is just not the same restaurant. We got takeout, took 30 min to place order because their online ordering app is very buggy. Not sure why the quality of the dishes they do serve has changed so much. Not enough garlic and ginger . Too much sesame oil. The review below was from last year. Hope they get their back on. We need good food now more than ever! Last year: We had another fabulous meal! The garlic broccoli was to die for, the fish special was incredible, as was the lemon sesame shrimp. This is one of the few places in Burlington that thankfudoes not shy away from garlic and ginger. It was lovely to be able to sit outside with our dog!

Yelp
I went for my birthday dinner here and had the most amazing time. Every menu item we selected was incredible and our server was beyond accommodating and friendly. Great portion sizes and value for prices and beautiful atmosphere. If I wasn't about to move I would be here every week!

Yelp
Came here for my boyfriend's birthday all the way from New York since we wanted to get out of the area and try something new. We really wanted to like this place but unfortunately that wasn't the case. We should've read the reviews first because what we thought at the end of our meal is exactly what everyone else has said. I ordered a Mai Thai which are my favorite but they didn't have an even amount of everything, it was straight up alcohol, no fruity flavor like it's supposed to have. I had a few sips and couldn't take it. Also the bartender was rude when I asked for a charger he said no with am attitude, like the audacity I had to even bother asking him for such a thing... Our waitress was very nice and helpful but pushy with the chef's tasting menu. I'm a picky eater and don't eat seafood so not knowing what it was going to be was a deal breaker for me. Everything was overpriced for what we got so I'm glad we followed our gut and ordered off the menu. According to reviews, the special is just different noodle dishes and different sauces on top. For $40 per person and BOTH people need to order it aka $80 total, no thanks! We started with Vegetable Red Oil Dumplings and we thought it would be spicy because of the name but we're disappointed. The sauce was super salty so I just ate my dumplings with rice. For my entree I had Ants Climbing a Tree which I really was looking forward to ever since we looked up the menu in advance. However, my dish was so salty that I barely ate it... I had to keep adding rice to lessen the salt! My bf enjoyed his dish, Steel Pot Sha Cha Beef. The noodles were amazing, the type used in my usual favorite, Chow-Fun, but I wish there were more! Also, it could've had more broccoli. Our waitress was nice to light a candle and put it in my bf's dessert! Overall, nice atmosphere and staff (minus the grumpy bartender) but for the price and the food - it's a miss.

Yelp
A Burlington staple- this dining experience is consistently great. Fun to order lots of small plates. A great change of pace, family-style experience.
