This is a very pleasant change from the usual canned resort to be expected in Nassau, it's a veritable 'gem in the rough' and we will certainly be staying here again in the future. It's an old colonial mansion, polished wood floors throughout, which has been converted into a hotel but in doing so they have been able to retain that old school charm absent from so many other places. What's more, if you enjoy Indian food their restaurant is excellent. If you're looking for something different from the norm I'd recommend 'A Stone's Throw', you will not be disappointed.

This is a cool old Bahamian house. The bathroom was a bit tight and musty but the bedroom was not musty as all. We enjoyed the deck overlooking the ocean. There are stairs up to the hotel office and there are up to two additional flights of stairs depending on your room. We are not super fit but didn’t have a problem using the stairs at all. If you have issues walking this is not your place. If you have Hilton or luxury expectations it’s also not your place. It’s absolutely a quirky and fun place to stay that has a beautiful view and is away from crowds and quiet.||Included Breakfast is continental - fruit, toast/bagel/croissant, yogurt, cereal, milk, OJ and coffee and tea. You get two free water bottles a night in your room. This is a great value since food is expensive.||The Indian restaurant was unbelievably good. The food was slow but so worth it!||It was super easy to catch a jitney and ride into downtown. (1.50 a person, About a thirty minute ride). We almost exclusively walked and used jitneys during our trip and never waited more than 15 minutes for one. The hotel staff was really kind about explaining how to use them to me in our first nights. (Thanks Alex!!)||While the beach is walkable from this hotel, I recommend trying some of the other beaches - You can ride a jitney up to any of the less crowded beaches on the way to downtown.

Stayed for one night after spending a week sailing the Exumas. Selected this hotel for convenient location to the airport and affordable rooms. While both of those goals were achieved, the experience exceeded our expectations. Once you make the admittedly long walk up the steps to the office (no elevator), you are greeted with an ocean view and fantastic breeze from the deck and genuinely friendly staff. The pool area is small but very adequate for the number of guests and so pleasant - clean water surrounded by calming landscape. It is possible to walk to restaurants a short distance on the beach, the walk is on a busy road with no sidewalk and fortunately, the restaurant in the hotel is very good. We enjoyed a home cooked authentic Indian dinner on the deck in the breeze. The second floor rooms are exposed to noise from people walking above but it was quiet overnight. There is a continuous supply of complimentary coffee, tea and water. Breakfast is nothing special but adequate for starting the day. A hidden gem for a brief stay - location did not seem ideal for easy access to other parts of the island for a longer vacation. Having been exposed to the curated, expensive resorts with practiced staff, A Stone's throw stay can succinctly be described as authentic.

Without a doubt the most relaxing and exquisite historic hotel in Nassau. Nestled in the historic Gambier district sitting atop a massive hill with views of the ocean this is a perfect romantic getaway. The staff are extremely friendly and the new chef from India prepared a meal that was divine. If you are looking for a truly peaceful location, close to the airport with a great location I highly recommend this hotel. I will be returning again.

We had a one-night stay between arriving in Nassau and flying to Andros, and decided to spend it here. ||The A/C was cold, the view was remarkable, the bed was comfy, the shower and bathroom were nice, the food was delicious, and the people were great and kind. ||Highly, highly recommend anyone looking for a nice relaxing stay check this place out!

Best boutique hotel in Nassau, very quiet and away from the rest of island, perfect for your Bahamas dream visit. Shanique was a fantastic host and couldn't have been more accommodating and helpful *****. The rest of the staff were also extremely kind and helpful. Great views of the ocean as nestled on top of a hill, only a quick 60 second walk to the sea.

Amazing views from the terrace and privacy! The walk down the hill reminded me of the amalfi Coast in italy. The restaurant Solemar was amazing and a short walk. This is also the closest hotel to the airport. The hotel is close to a private beach or you can take a bus to more touristy beaches. I took the bus to town for 4 rountrip. I highly recommend this hotel if you like privacy and spectacular views, service was great.

I had the pleasure of enjoying a solo dining experience at the Bombay Café located at A Stone's Throw Away. The dining area is located on the balcony, perfect for an intimate dinner under the stars accompanied with the sounds of the ocean waves and cool breeze was nothing short of amazing. There was a birthday party going on which provided great entertainment of music and dancing. The service was excellent, with very friendly staff who are knowledgeable about the menu items. They also have vegan options which is great I would recommend the Veggie Samosa which has a tasty mix of potatoes, peas and spices stuffed inside a fried dough. I enjoyed the Shrimp Marsala with rice it was a little spicy but delicious. If you're into Indian Cuisine and looking for a nice intimate spot with a great view check them out!
