A Sud

If A Sud translated into something meaning "the divine", I'd believe it. We were gratiously seated inside with no booking while it bucketed down outside - and though we only had an hour and fifteen before the booking arrived, there was no hint that it was a problem. In fact, this may have been the best service we have seen across all of Italy. Upon seating, you are greeted by three welcomes - a glass of lovely prosecco, small dough bites in tomato sauce, and wonderful smiles. Our host spoke great English too, and was a delight to converse with, even when attempting scant Italian. Our entree of potato croquettes had a beautiful smokey flavour, perfectly accented by the local Salerno wine we had been recommended. But our mains were the real deal - broccoli, orecchiette and a teaspoon of the most incredible anchovy sauce, plus onion and beef sauce ragu. You can elect to add these amazing chilli oils to them, which add perfect heat, with no overpowering elements. These dishes were simply amazing. Everything was in perfect balance. Mopping up sauce with bread is mandatory. This is finished by a complimentary lemon profiterole. A Sud, just like its dishes, is perfectly balanced. Amazing service, beautiful flavours, and a comforting atmosphere. It is a must visit in Salerno.

The food here was truly excellent, every dish was full of flavor and beautifully prepared. I don’t usually recommend many restaurants, but this is one I can honestly suggest because the quality was outstanding. The atmosphere was nice overall and made the meal enjoyable. The only small downside was that in the afternoon it felt a bit too hot and stuffy inside, but that didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed the food

Everything was great. They had a welcoming drink and we order mozzarella with tomato, pasta of the day (with clams) and meatballs. Happy with all 😊 and the wine was good , too. It was a good choice.

This is the best place to eat in Salerno! I came here 5 times during a 10 day stay and tried almost everything on the menu. All the food is excellent with large portions. From the welcome drink and fried pizza dough appetizer to the homemade bread and chocolate, I looked forward to going back each time. The staff is very attentive and friendly making the experience the best in town. The street is very quiet and makes for a very pleasant atmosphere.

We arrived without reservation where every table was full but waiter Marcelo got our back with a new table inside. When we sit down he brought us free treats including champagne and gnocchi😊 When I say the food was very very good I really mean it and the service was even better, Marcelo was so kind with us and his vibe was so good that we couldn't help but give him credit. After we finished food he brought us free homemade chocolate which I think you already guessed, it was very good😂 The atmposhere in general was very pleasant and not noisy at all. Me and my partner left with a big smile on our faces, the other reviews and the location being full anytime really make sense now. If you stay I Salerno you can't give it a pass, it is a must try!

A very warm and home-like place. The staff is extremely friendly and professional, and the food tastes as if it were made by a real Italian mamma. Definitely experice worth to recommend!

Lunch was outside and we were well taken care of. First off a complementary prosecco and a little appetizer. The octopus was just delicious and full of flavor! The baked gnocchi was delicious and sooooo tasty. Again…a complementary crème puff dessert! Make sure you visit ASud! You won’t be sorry Mangia!!
