A-Train Hotel

I was positively surprised by this hotel. The facade does not offer much, but the hotel is truly a collection of model trains, train pictures, the entire place has veen decorated with train related things. Service was quite good, all personnel was very kind. Location is perfect: in front of the central station (trains, metro, tram) and next to the red district. As soon as you leave the hotel you can start getting to know Amsterdam. Cheers!

A-Train Hotel was absolutely perfect for our family of 3 generations! Grandma and the 2 kids had ample space in the room with 3 beds, while the kids' parents had a nearby room. We absolutely loved the decor and thought breakfast was great, as were the beds. The location is terrific. The attention to detail makes this a very unique hotel, and the kids absolutely loved the feeling of being on a train. The best part, though was the staff. Ali Hassan and the entire staff were very friendly and kind made us feel welcome and appreciated. We'd love to stay there again.

Love this hotel for many reasons! We're on our second night here and will stay again next time in Amsterdam. Our room is exceptionally clean! It's perfect for us though might be on the small side for two people with large suitcases. The location is VERY close to Central Station with many amenities close by such as a Supermarket next door, restaurants close by and tourist attractions very near. The cruise terminals for smaller ships such as Viking, Gate 1 and Windstar are within walking distance though there is also a Taxi stand within about a five minute walk. The breakfast is wonderful and plentiful with being a traditional European style that includes meats and cheeses. The 24 hour coffee+ machine is also nice.

I had a wonderful stay at the A-Train Hotel in Amsterdam during IBC Show. The location is absolutely perfect – just across from Amsterdam Central Station, which made getting around the city very convenient. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to assist with any requests. My room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with everything I needed for a pleasant stay. The breakfast was excellent, with a good variety to start the day. A special thanks to General Manager Ali Hasan, who showed great hospitality throughout my stay. I really enjoyed having a good chat with him – he was very polite, attentive, and made me feel genuinely welcome. I will definitely be coming back and will stay here again on my next visit to Amsterdam. Overall, I highly recommend A-Train Hotel – great value, superb location, and outstanding service

I was pleasanty surprised with this hotel! It's right by the train station, so it's in a fantastic location for travel to and from the Eurostar. The rooms and communal areas are spotlessly clean. We booked the top floor apartment which worked well for us as a group with children (although the stairs were very steep). The breakfast had a good selection, and it was nice to have use of the hot drinks machine 24/7. The staff were brilliant and so friendly. My little boy loved all the train memorabilia! I would definitely return if using the train station.

A lovely quirky hotel. We used this hotel on our way to and back from Puglia in Italy by train. Very convenient just across from Amsterdam central Station. Staff were so friendly and accommodating, nothing a problem. Room very clean and well prepared. Breakfasts ample and included as much coffee and tea as you could drink. Would definitely recommend and use again for a longer stay or if just passing through Amsterdam.

Amazing stay! The hotel’s location right opposite the train station is super convenient. All staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Loved the 24-hour unlimited water and coffee, plus the delicious free breakfast. The lift was a great touch, and the room was spotless with modern facilities. Highly recommend for a fantastic experience!🤩🤩

Okay. I didn't stay here. But I DID book a vacation here with my family and then had a change of plans. I tried to cancel the reservation and explained my situation. Hotel manager sent me this response... "Seeing the circumstances, we are willing to make an exception for you on the non-refundable conditions. We will KEEP THE FULL AMOUNT, however, 70% of this amount may be used for a future reservation with us. The 30% will be kept as administration/cancellation costs. This credit will only be usable for a reservation made on our own website (www.atrainhotel.com) with an arrival date before 02-09-2025. Please let us know if you would like to take this offer." This is the only offer they were willing to make when I had to cancel a reservation FOUR WEEKS in advance. Buyer beware. If this is how they treat a cancellation, you can bet they are waiting to gouge you every chance they get.

Clean, safe, centrally located budget-friendly hotel with 24 hours front desk and coffee / tea station. Minutes from everywhere you would want to go. Directly across from train station and on many bus routes. Highly recommended and I will definitely book this location again. Stayed 4 nights Nov28-Dec 2, 23, have not noticed much noise despite the location. Staff and very friendly and efficient.

It's all about the location! This hotel is quiet, cozy, clean and within walking distance of most points of interest in Amsterdam. With a hop on / off bus pass you can see the rest. The first stop on these busses are down the street. Recent upgrade includes air conditioning in the rooms. Very small rooms, but in Amsterdam, you shouldn't spend much time in them! Friendly staff, decent breakfast and strong wi-fi. I was very pleased with this hotel during my stay. I would recommend to a friend and stay again.

Stayed at my go-to place i Amsterdam again. This time, however, I got sick on my last night in town. I soiled the bed and spent the night on the bathroom floor. With a morning flight out, I got cleaned up and left the towels on the shower floor, and put the bedding in a plastic shopping bag I had. I left a 25 euro tip for housekeeping and went down with my luggage to check out. I explained to the front desk and expected them to be unhappy. They could not have been nicer or more accommodating. They asked if I was ok and if I needed directions to a doctor, and asked if I needed one of them to run and get me something from a pharmacy. They made clear that the room was fine and even asked if I was OK walking to the station with my bags. They earned a customer for life. Great hotel, great location, reasonably priced, and outstanding service.

We researched hotels in our price range before we booked so we knew the A-Train hotel would be the type of accommodation we were hoping for. This is a nice little place, very close to the Centraal Station and a very good base from which to explore the City. The room was small and a bit cramped for two people, however it was clean and comfortable, the bathroom was perfectly functional and it was a very reasonable price. This is a no frills hotel that we would recommend and it is a hotel that we would like to re-visit in the future.

My stay was 8/19-21/16 we arrived early afternoon & had no problems checking in one room was ready right away the next within 30 minutes not bad. My friends was a single bed small room but it was comfy enough. My room was double twin beds so the room was a little more spacious. Comfy bed & room, nice bathroom only thing I didn't like was the fact that there were no nice toiletries. We had the breakfast our first morning nothing too crazy, some cold cuts, fruits, cereal & eggs. Coffee & juice as well. I had me some toast with some colds cuts & a couple of boiled eggs good to start the day OJ was good as well. As for the hotel very cute all the train decorations are totally fitting, really liked the candy bowl. The hotel has quite an old feel to it.. it can probably benefit from a nice face lift about the only modern thing are the door locks, rooms have no AC kinda crazy but with the temperatures being cool at night the open windows really kept the room nice & cool. Great location right across from the train station can get any more convenient than that hotel was nice served its purpose during our stay. Review#600

I went to Amsterdam with my brother and a few of his friends, and after a rather unpleasant experience at a hostel located in the red-light district, I found myself looking for an easily accessible and nice hotel on the cheap. We happened to be walking past the train station, and found the A-train Hotel. After talking with the front desk agent for a few minutes, he gave me a key so that I could go check out the room to see if we wanted to stay there. Most hotels won't allow that, so I found that to be very accommodating. The room was nice, but very narrow with not much space. But considering it's Amsterdam, we weren't planning on staying inside much anyways. The beds were comfy, the bathroom was nice, and there was a good view. They also had complimentary breakfast in the lobby as well as access to a computer and internet. if I ever go back to Amsterdam, i'd stay here again!

Stayed here for 4 nights and everyone was so kind and pleasant. Enjoyed the stay it was quiet and the breakfast was perfect!! Only wish they had a mini fridge but the rooms are rather small but cozy. Great location, across from the train and bus station. Would stay here again.

Fantastic location opposite the central station. And that's not even the main reason it'd be recommended to train lovers, the whole place is very much train themed as the name implies I'm not a train buff but the price was right and my small, but perfectly formed, room suited me just right! Single bed is nay bother. I am a lover of the kind of breakfast they did here! Cheese, meat and bread, that's all i require! Run by friendly irreverent types!

We had some of our belongings stolen during our stay in this hotel. We were there from 28th to 30th April 2016. In April 30th , as soon as we got back to our room, we noticed that a laptop was missing. A bag containing something around 200 Euros, in Brazilian currency was also missing, subtracted from a suitcase that we found opened. When we went to the reception of the hotel we saw something very weird: the trash bag from our room was forgotten on a table by the person that was cleaning the rooms. When we managed to talk to the receptionist about our missing belongings, he became quite angry and irritable, assuming a defensive attitude. He called the manager, who checked the room but did nothing about the case beyond tell us to go to the police, report the fact and fill a complaint, what we did. In spite of the fact that it was already 23:30 h, we had to go by ourselves to the police station, since no one from the staff accompanied us, or gave us any support. In the next day, a Sunday, we tried to talk again with the manager but he told us he does not work during the Sunday mornings and he wouldn't go to the hotel only to talk to us. Due to this treatment and the negligence we decided to move to another hotel. After two days we were contacted by the first hotel's staff and they sent us a camera record showing a stranger entering the room and stealing the things. They promised us another laptop, but said they couldn't do anything about the money, since we should have used the safe in the room. We pondered that the laptops (we had two) and the bag with the money wouldn't fit in the small safe located at the room. In our opinion the problem is the hotel's lack of security. We were promised to refund the notebook but went back. Do not recommend this hotel. Is unsafe, dangerous. They're not going to restore anything. Quando fomos para a recepção do hotel vimos algo muito estranho: o saco de lixo de nossa sala foi esquecido na mesa pela pessoa que estava limpando os quartos. Quando conseguimos falar com o rapaz da recepção sobre nossos pertences desaparecidos, ele ficou bastante irritado assumindo uma atitude defensiva. Ele chamou o gerente, que viu o quarto, mas nada fez sobre o caso, além de nos dizer para irmos à polícia, comunicar o fato e preencher uma reclamação, o que fizemos. Apesar do fato de que já era 23:30 h, tivemos que ir sozinhas à delegacia de polícia, já que ninguém da equipe acompanhou-nos, ou nos deu qualquer apoio. No dia seguinte, um domingo, nós tentamos falar novamente com o gerente, mas ele nos disse que ele não trabalha durante as manhãs de domingo e ele não iria para o hotel apenas para falar com a gente. Devido a este tratamento e a negligência, decidimos mudar para outro hotel. Depois de dois dias fomos contatados pelo pessoal do hotel .Primeiro e enviaram-em um registro de câmera mostrando um estranho entrar no quarto e roubar as coisas. Eles nos prometeram outro laptop, mas disseram que não podiam fazer nada sobre o dinheiro, mas depois voltaram atrás e não vão mais ressarcir nada. Esse hotel é perigoso, inseguro e a direção não dá nenhum apoio aos hóspedes.
