The Best Walking Tours in Edinburgh (Updated 2025)

"I suggest A Wee Pedal for covering more ground by bike: their most popular offering is a 20-mile loop that circumnavigates the city, with a 12-mile version that goes out to the rugged coastline for a more off-the-beaten-path experience. Rides are at a meandering, comfortable pace, you can rent an e-bike for an extra 15 GBP, and they also offer private tours (including one that ends at a brewery with a tasting) and a mountain bike tour. Prices start at 65 GBP." - Matthew Kepnes

We questioned our decision making. A bike tour in late November in Edinburgh? Turns out it was a great decision as we had an amazing ride with Richard. We love bike tours and have done them in various cities in Europe. It is a great way to see a lot of stuff efficiently. Don’t be afraid to do an off season ride, dress appropriately and you will be fine. A side note, we have had some dodgy bikes with our tours in the past, these bikes were great really made the experience that much more enjoyable.

It's rare to see a place with a real 5.0 rating but they deserve it. We did the mid length tour (17km) as a family and thought it was fantastic. Our guide was the right mix of informative and chill and the whole operation seems very community oriented. The bikes were good and well suited to the task. Most of the riding is on nice paths and gets away from the busiest tourist areas (the beach section was a bit busy but totally worth it; well timed ice cream break there). We had another family with us on the ride and made fast friends so another positive. Recommended!

An Unforgettable Edinburgh Adventure with A Wee Pedal! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our "circular journey" with A Wee Pedal was an absolute highlight of our trip to Edinburgh, a truly spectacular 20-mile ride that showcased the city's incredible beauty and history. From start to finish, this experience earned every one of its five stars! Our guide and owner, Leanne, was simply amazing. Her passion for Edinburgh was infectious, and her insights into the city's historical aspects were both fascinating and wonderfully detailed. It felt less like a tour and more like an intimate conversation with a knowledgeable friend. We learned so many interesting facts, including that Leanne is a true local, born and raised right here in Edinburgh! After a fulfilling career as an educator, she now pours her heart into A Wee Pedal, personally leading daily tours for small groups. This commitment to smaller numbers truly makes a difference, ensuring not only the safety of the group but also creating an intimate setting where you can really dive deep into Edinburgh's rich past. And here's another fantastic detail: if you opt for an e-bike, the additional cost is generously donated back to the local community. It's a fantastic win-win that makes an already great experience even better. If you're looking for a unique, engaging, and utterly delightful way to explore Edinburgh, look no further than A Wee Pedal. We can't recommend it highly enough!

My daughter Kara has been unhappy about her lack of ability to ride a bike. Leanne was brilliant and in one and a half hours Kara was cycling unaided with very little wobble! Leanne’s clear instructions were easy to understand, and her encouragement of Kara’s progress helped immensely. She is still buzzing about it, telling her mum all about the lesson, and how she wants to go back for another session to gain more confidence. I would readily recommend anyone with a child, or not, who needs help to come here.

An amazing 20 mile tour with Leanne and her son. We were a group of 8 people coming from Florida. Leanne was an excellent guide. We were impressed by all the places we visited nd the information that she provided. She was also very thoughtful and we were left with amazing pictures as well! Make sure to take this tour!

Fabulous 20 mile circular ride today with Richard . Great authentic way to experience Edinburgh on an easy to ride bike with wonderful friendly historical commentary in a small group . Route was really varied and nearly all off road from streets, parks, canals to the seaside . Upgrade to an ebike if you’re not fit enough for the distance. If you enjoy cycling it’s a great scenic ride to work up an appetite to have lunch in the wonderful bridgehouse cafe next door - where community centre is also supported by this business . Take a rain coat if it looks like rain and bike in shorts . Rain or shine or both it’s thoroughly enjoyable and worth every £! Great to meet Leanne and Richard - the owners of wee pedal . Don’t miss it !

Wow! What a wonderful experience while in Edinburgh! Gillian was a fabulous guide and was great with seasoned E-bikers as well as beginners. We would highly recommend this tour and even do it again when we come back to visit Scotland again!
