AALERNHÜS hotel & spa

The staff is very friendly albeit sometimes a bit confused and not everyone speaks English. The facilities is however very nice with big rooms, cozy spa and a very nice lobby. We stayed over New Year’s Eve and was very happy during the stay. The spot gets one star less just because I half of the hotel has a view of the parking spot. Not the worse but it’s good to know when you are booking.

First of all, I picked this hotel because we were in Hamburg and wanted to stay in a 4-5 start hotel not so far away. The hotel was easy to get with. ||||I will go through what I felt was good and not so good at the hotel :||||Hits||- The room itself was excellent and very comfortable. A good mini bar and excellent shower.||- A lovely swim/sauna area. (The fitness area was too small to rate)||- A big thank you to a number of staff. Sorry, I did not get names. The Ukrainian lady and her partner at dinner. Friendly, professional & helpful. The lady at the cocktail bar who was friendly, efficient & patient with going through the cocktail list for my wife. Lastly the night porter who went out of his way to supply an additional mini-bar beer to my room!||- The dinner was very much hit and miss. We stayed half-board and the menu was very limited. 2 courses for starter and 3 for main course. The Chicken Cesear Salad was a good delicious portion while the wiener schnitzel was just delicious. Excellent combination!||- The food at the breakfast. Good variety.||||Misses||- Staff at reception and at breakfast. While not rude, they were very reserved bordering on being cold. They were definitely not friendly. Why work in a 4 star hotel?||- €7 for a bottle of water which is free at breakfast and in the room. That is outrageous. I did not leave a tip because of this.||- At the dinner, there was a vegtable essence soup. It was a type of broth but in reality was nothing but flavoured water which tasted terrible. Also the fish, which was tiny with a few potatoes and carrots. You certainly needed to ensure that you ate before dinner which thankfully we did!||- This is definitely not a 5 star hotel but bringing bags to the room for guests would be a suggestion that I would have for hotel management to make their hotel stand out. ||||Overall, this was a nice stay but I was slightly disappointed that it did not have that wow factor.

We had a very nice stay at this hotel. The standard rooms are fine and very clean. The lobby bar was cozy with a nice fireplace, quite areas with nice furniture and fair bar prices. The breakfast was excellent, and the half board dinner was delicious and fair priced. The wellness area was just perfect, small but with a good variety of saunas.

Excellent. Absolutely excellent. The personnel who work at this hotel are exceptionally friendly, helpful and courteous. Everybody from the gardener to the receptionists, from the room cleaning staff to the bar tender - all of them are, without exception, polite and attentive. The hotel itself, refurbished to a high standard in 2012, is very tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished. Rooms are spacious with mini bar, safe for valuables and a lot of wardrobe and drawer space for clothes and belongings. Indoor Pool is a good size (often the photos of Hotel pools are taken with a wide angle lens which makes them appear huge on the hotel website but when you see them in reality they are about the size of a handkerchief - but this pool is well dimensioned) and the 2 saunas plus steam room are modern and clean. From the hotel it is about 1.5km to the centre of town (20 minutes walk) where a wooden walkway leads to the extensive beach and the Arche Noah. From there you can stroll along the beach for about 3km and then turn off the beach and walk back along the damm wall. A pleasant 8k afternoon stroll or else a good 8k run before breakfast which is also a joy in this Hotel. Great selection of beads, fresh buns, freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly made omelette in front of your eyes to name but a few of the breakfast highlights. This Hotel has certainly earned its 5 star rating.

The staff at the AAlernhüs hotel are absolutely wonderful, the senior management , catering staff, house keeping and even the gardening team could not do enough to offer a friendly , helpful service. We stayed in one of the newly built Residenzen suites, the design has been given a lot of thought, everything with attention to detail, beautifully furnished and well equipped. During our stay, we enjoyed a very tasty buffet breakfast on the terrace of the main hotel each morning, there was so much choice to satisfy. ||The hotel is situated in lovely grounds, where there is a Tennis court, Croquet lawn and outside heated pool. So peaceful there , just 20 minutes walk from the main Pier.

We really enjoyed the cosy lounge with bar - the span area is very well kept and super clean. We stayed during winter, but the out door pool looked so amazing. Beautiful with views to the pine forest. we will definitely come back

Overall it was a nice stay. The staff is globally welcoming and efficient - the place is quiet, the mattresses are of good quality. Bikes can be hired at the hotel. Parking is ok. Breakfast is excellent.||Good to know : half board not at the expected standard. The cooking is simple and not very imaginative. ||The outdoor pool is not heated.

Excellent Hotel. Great location. Especially the Residence is perfect for a stay with kids. Breakfast could have been a bit better. Bread was not very good. Staff was very friendly but there is a lack training. Service is definitely on a 5 star level. Restaurant is not very flexibel. The cleaning of the room needs improvement. But I give 5 points because of the location, room, pool
