"Unpronounceable Open-Faced Sandwiches A visit to Denmark must include trying the country's famous, impossible-to-pronounce open-faced sandwich, smørrebrød (I'm fairly certain that only native Danish speakers can pronounce it properly -"SMUHR-bruth"). Smørrebrød translates to "buttered bread," and a traditional smørrebrød lunch usually includes three or four small sandwiches ranging from potatoes and radish to egg salad. The once working-class lunch gets a chefy makeover at Aamanns where the smørrebrød is served on homemade rye bread. The restaurant design is charming, with big stencils of radishes and cows on the walls. Order the smørrebrød trio for lunch, and ask to have it paired with a biodynamic wine."

A great spot to try traditional smørrebrød with a refined twist. The presentation is more elegant and colorful than usual, and each plate feels carefully crafted. Prices are on the higher side but that’s expected in Copenhagen (they are a bit more expensive than other smørrebrød places in the city). Surprisingly, the vegetarian options impressed us the most — beautifully balanced flavors and really tasty combinations. We also enjoyed a lovely white tea that perfectly complemented the meal. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a modern take on a Danish classic!

The food was exceptionally tasty! The prawn with the sourdough bread was my favourite! They do very cute takeaway boxes which is perfect for a picnic and their coffee is very good too. Very clean and cozy place.

One of our favourite meals in Copenhagen! The smorrebrods were super delicious and the menu was smaller which we appreciated cause it made selecting a lot easier. Everything we tried were worth it and the prices were actually not too bad compared to places we’ve tried. The space is small and don’t have a ton of tables but highly recommend!

We came at around 4pm on Sunday so the inside was not occupied at all. We came as we had watched Somebody Feed Phil and I really wanted to try the Smorebrpd. Honestly it’s sooooooo good. We had three veggie options (2 cold, one warm) and two fish options (both cold). My husband was really impressed with his fish options and also loved my veggie options. We also had the snaps tastings. We walked out really full and really happy to have tried this place and for sure, we know we can’t get better than this (each one was different, flavourful, had great texture). For sure I would revisit next time I’m back in CPH.

This was my first time trying smorrebord and we got it to takeaway and I was very impressed and satisfied! We ordered a herring and a salmon, and both were fresh and piled high with ingredients. My favourite was the salmon, which had a lot of dill and a fennel salad. The herring was really good too, the beetroot salad was sweet and sour added a lot of flavour to the sandwich. The sandwiches are very filling and they have options for everyone!

I'm so glad I stumbled upon Aamanns Deli & Takeaway! This charming deli has become my go-to spot for a quick and delicious meal. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile by the friendly staff, who made me feel like a regular from the very first visit. The service is top-notch - efficient, attentive, and knowledgeable. They take the time to explain the menu, offer recommendations, and even share stories about the ingredients and preparation methods. But the real star of the show is the food. Oh, the food! The open-faced sandwiches (smørrebrød) are a must-try - fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared. The rye bread is crispy and dense, the perfect base for the generous toppings. I've tried several varieties now, and each one is a flavor explosion. The ingredients are clearly high-quality and locally sourced, which makes all the difference. Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed with Aamanns Deli & Takeaway. If you're looking for a quick, delicious, and authentic Danish culinary experience, look no further. This gem of a deli is a must-visit!

Was looking to try our first smørrebrød and a quick Google search led us here. Unfortunately the spot is really small for indoor seating and service was quite slow for takeaway. The food was beautifully prepared and quite tasty with fresh ingredients. However it is a bit more on the expensive side and the portions aren't large. We really enjoyed the herring one!
