a&o Salzburg Hauptbahnhof

Picked here because a&o Hostels have been consistent, comfy beds, clean and great value with previous stays. The location for this hostel was brilliant alongside great shared areas. Unfortunately I had a very unpleasant encounter in my dorm with a fellow guest and Keno on the desk was brilliant and empathetic, swiftly moving me into another room and must be praised. However, having been in my second room I have to say there was inconsistency with usb/normal plug and quality of beds. First room was much more modern and the second had a very cranky frame. For paying the same price I preferred the quality of the first room and hope that they are rolling this out across the whole building.

The bed, blanket and pillow are very comfortable. I had a very good sleep. However, there is no privacy because there is no cover up curtain for every bed.And also no in room locker provider. Additionally, the bathroom does not have an air vantilator, I barely can't breathe. Beside than that, over all are good. The entire system is just like a hotel.

Good value near the Salzburg HBF, enjoyable... not really. We had two bed twin room with private bath. The rooms are small but we weren't spending much time there anyway. Almost nowhere to open your luggage without blocking a door, very small room. Reasonably clean though there was a ridiculous amount of cobwebs on the ceilings. No view, but we didn't care. Reasonably quiet. Poor guy at check in was alone so that took about 45 minutes even though I had just two others in front of me... he was alone and in charge of basically everything in the lobby. Was cheap and well located for our train journey to see Christmas markets.

Nice place to stay for the price. Clean and spacious enough but room. Only a few mins walk from the main station and other public transport. The only few downsides were that the guest kitchen stinks badly and is very dirty (not very user friendly), and the toilet/bathroom are inside the room that is not well aerated. So you can imaging how it goes at toileting and showering time in a 6 mixed dorm. Staff generally nice and useful.

NOT RECOMMENDED! NOT RECOMMENDED! NOT RECOMMENDED! VERY BAD SERVICE ATTITUDE! Receptionist lady took her sweet time on the phone and leave the guest to stand in front of counter. Dun even greet the customer. As know it is just a youth hostel, not to expect that they can provide professional service as a hotel. Unfortunately, it is just like a primary/ secondary school environment. In the evening, there is a kindergarten kids activity going on at the common area. And, some kiddos knocked the room door and running away. And, one of the technician was insisted to enter room to change shower head during my stay. If I could give a ZERO MARK will be best to them. Lastly, I would recommend trip.com user to book other hotel nearby but not this “prison” room.

Good Hostel but one of the most expensive shared dormitories I have ever stayed in --in the world. A few years ago it was 20 Euros a night --today I paid 86 Euros without breakfast through ' booking,com.' In future I won't bother--I can get a hotel room for less than a 100 with breakfast in Salzburg.|||| I recently travelled around the world and from 'Laughing Dog Hostel' in Lima and Iquitos in the Amazon (10 dollars a night with a sumptuous breakfast at a nearby restaurant to 'Under de Haus' - Belize, Central America (25 dollars) to HINY -- New York City W 103 Street (60 dollars) to Singapore, Dubai, Australia, New Zealand Philipines, Bangkok; Kathmandu, Delhi; Goa; Santiago; Cusco in Peru; Machu Pichu Moshe in Tanzania; Stone Town In Zanzibar, Dar Es Salaam, Cairo, Alexandria, Gambia, Senegal, Morocco, Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey etc etc -- ALL ABOUT 20-30 DOLLARS A NIGHT BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT HOSTELLING/SHARING A DORMITORY SHOULD BE ABOUT- comradeship and economy-- not nearly 100 Euros a night for a shared dorm||||Very sorry A and O --your profits must be huge--One small room with 6 beds = 480 Euros------ No 2-3 star Hotel in Salzburg is charging nearly 500 Euros for a small unfurnished - not en-suite shared bathroom, room.

Stuff is welcoming you with a big smile.. a good sense of humour and was very helpful during the check in and the check out time…!! ||Location was very good easy to get to the city…||Rooms were clean and tidy .. comfortable for a group of 6 .. and very warm

Stayed 2 nights at this place. The building itself looks like a mixture between a college dormitory and a large factory. On a positive side, staff at reception was very helpful, I was provided with an extra pillow as the original one was flat like an envelope. Also got plasters when I hurt my finger. Room was smallish size, clean bathroom and linen. Mattress was ok, bit soft. Except the bare minimum, no kettle, no cups but there is a hairdryer. As others said, your stay will depend on the other guests. Some were very inconsiderate to say the least. We had the disfortune having a neighbour the opposite room who thought it was ok to chuck their child's soiled nappy out by the corridor! Disgusting! I have a photo but did not want to atrach it. |Breakfast is continental, yoghurt, cream cheese, salami, toast, salad, tomatoes, jam, muesli. |The place is close to the train station but 20 mins walk from the city centre.

This is a great property to stay at. Don't let the "hostel" in the name fool you. This location offers private rooms with a private restroom, in addition to standard room types you'd expect in a hostel. A&O is very clean. Its staff is extremely professional and courteous. The services provided at the front desk include: a bar, coffee, tea, food and snacks. The prices aren't to terrible either. The WiFi is fantastic, and it seems to be throughout the entire facility, not just in the common areas. A huge benefit is A&O's proximity to the train station. It's a short and easy walk to get to the front desk. I highly recommend staying here.
