"“This small town on the River Aare is considered the most beautiful Baroque town in Switzerland,” says Meier. It’s also full of interesting sites to keep travelers busy and entertained. Old Town Solothurn, which doesn’t allow car traffic, has 11 churches and chapels, plus the same amount of towers and fountains. If you prefer museums, you’ll appreciate the Natural History Museum, the Blumenstein Museum, the Museum of Stones, and Old Arsenal, which has one of the largest weapons collections in Europe. Or, for those travelers who want to soak up the great outdoors, Meier says, “You can combine a visit with a cruise on the Aare or a hike up the Weissenstein.”" - Travel + Leisure Editors

With a length of 288 kilometers, the Aare is the longest river to run entirely within Switzerland. Along its route it encounters numerous villages and towns, and winds its way through a wide variety of impressive landscapes. Thrilling views😍

Aare is the longest river entirely within Switzerland. Its source lies in the Bernese Alps, in the Aare Glacier. On its way through Switzerland it also passes the city of Bern, where it meanders around the Old Town, a UNESCO world heritage site, defining the city centre’s natural borders.

Excellent way to spend a few hours on a sunny summer day! We rented a 6 person raft from one of the local companies in Thun and floated down the Aare from Thun to Bern. It is very scenic with the turquoise water and the Alps in the background. The ride took about 3 hours and was very calm. There were a few “rapids” and we got a little wet, but it was not dangerous. We landed at Eicholz beach park in Bern. The park is nice to sit and relax in the sun.

Absolutely serene and picturisque river. If you observe the pic closely there is a father and son duo enjoying the river by just falling into it with utmost joy :-) The river stream was carrying them downstream but they seem to be least bothered ! I hope this is common practice here and is safe.
