One word- WOW. This is the best Indian food we’ve ever had. Very friendly service and extremely nice food with a beautiful atmosphere. What more could a family of 6 want. We wish we lived in Kanazawa so this could be our local. Thank you for having us!

Sensational. We ate too much but that was by design. Food, service, atmosphere all out of this world and most importantly - authentic. We jumped in a taxi as soon as we found this place and it absolutely delivered on a taste of home. All the staff from the owners, wait-staff, and chefs can’t do enough to accommodate you and make you feel welcome. They are an infectiously enthusiastic, friendly, and cheery bunch. Even if you don’t enjoy Indian food, come for the concentrated dose of happiness. Drinks: The mango lassi was wonderful, it reminded us of Kesar mango. The salted lassi was delicately seasoned, refreshingly perfect. Starters: Aloo (potato) - simple yet flavourful, just like home cooking. Samosas - again spiced simply, delicately. Not too overpowering. Very wholesome. Mains: Paneer butter masala - exactly what the doctor ordered. Creamy tomatoey goodness spiced to perfection. We had this with a very generously sized garlic naan. The garlic naan had a nice twist I’d never encountered before but I loved it and led to a fascinating conversation with the owners about running an Indian restaurant in Kanazawa. Chana Masala - very nice, sort of a cross between a Punjabi chole and Gujarati channa masala. We paired this with a huge bhatura which was delicious and fluffy. Chai: As a rule I don’t drink caffeine past midday but made an exception this 8pm and I have no regrets. The chai was perfect. Creamy, slightly sweet, perfect masala blend. Very soothing and tasted just like home. Spice Level: We like our food to have spice but not enough to blow your head off or be in trouble on the loo the next day. They have a very nice and well explained 1-5 spice scale and we felt well advised towards choosing a 3. This was perfect for us, lots of flavour without any burn! Reservations: To avoid disappointment you may want to reserve or get there early, otherwise there may be a (well worth it) wait. We turned up at 19:00 without a reservation and it was fairly quiet but by the time we left after 20:00 the restaurant was full with queues outside.

Wow, this place blew my mind. I think this is the best Indian food I’ve ever had, and the staff was super friendly. The cheese naan was amazing. Vegan-friendly. A must visit!

Restaurants like this are one-in-a-million. You get a houseproud team cooking their cuisine with passion, combined with impeccable Japanese service levels and ingredient quality. If you just want a break from miso soup and plain rice, Aashirwad is the ideal choice. The menu is extensive and you can customise the spice level. The thali platters make a substantial but thoroughly enjoyable dinner which showcases the kitchen's mastery. This restaurant is extremely popular, so a reservation by phone is always advisable (the entire team seems to speak excellent English) or join the queue which forms 20 minutes before opening and hope for the best.

Super delicious! It's pretty on par with my favorite Indian place back in California. The food is phenomenal, portions are huge, and it's also really cheap. The staff are also amazingly kind and very social, I enjoyed interacting with them very much. I had the meal set, choosing chicken Tikki Masala + Garlic naan. It was really good and I think cost me about 3k yen?

My daughter said this was the best meal of her life!! The flavours were incredible! We ordered a variety of foods but I’m convinced that you can’t go wrong with whatever you choose. The staff were so friendly and speak English, which is very helpful for non-Japanese-speaking tourists like us! This restaurant is well-deserving of its TripAdvisor awards. Put this on your list of places to eat at in Kanazawa!!! The walk along the waterway is also beautiful.
