1. Located on the county border
Aasleagh Falls is located approximately 1 km north of the border between counties Galway and Mayo, on the River Erriff, shortly before it flows into Killary Harbour.
2. Part of the Western Way
This waterfall is the starting point for one section of the long-distance Western Way walk.
The walk along the Erriff river valley, with views of lakes, mountains, and forests, is very picturesque.
3. Popular spot for salmon fishing and easy walking
The water near the falls is part of a salmon run, so fishing here is especially popular in the summer months.
Furthermore, the approach to the waterfall is quite easy—the path is short, but can become muddy after rain.
