We booked via booking.com and when we arrived we were told that there is a 10% credit card charge for card payments. This is illegal in brasil. First of all you need to tell your client before arriving and at the hotel with a sign about this charge - which did not happen, neither there is an information paper there. Second you are only allowed to charge the amount the credit card operator charges you, which is sth between 4-5%.
This is abusive and illegal...
I told them that I will leave a comment on booking about this and when we left they cancelled our stay so I am not able to rate them. Very unprofessionell and also illegal.
Besides this, the hotel has a nice kitchen, very big and nice common area and is good located. We stayed in a private room where a lot of things need renovation (loose cables, wholes in the wall, plastic pillows).
I would still recommend for solo travellers as this is the only place to meet people and the shared areas are nice.
The management itself is very unprofessionell - but you can still have a nice time there. Just don't let them betray on you.
