Canada's Coziest Getaway Includes Fireside Chess, Hard Cider with Monks, and the Best Grilled Cheese

Beautiful building (some ongoing construction happening) and grounds. The boutique is well stocked with something for everyone, including their famous cheeses & ciders, reasonably priced. Well worth a visit!

It’s a wonder of construction and you can feel the history of the abbey when you visit. Lots of displays about the history and daily activities and there’s also a wonderful little shop for souvenirs and cheeses and other snacks! It’s a bit of a drive from Montreal but worth the time!

Enjoyed coming to this area for an unplanned visit. The shop inside offered many great options and was fantastic to take the time to have a picnic outside. The apple orchard added an extra activity for the visit. I wish there was more areas of the grounds that could be seen and more areas open inside to enjoy. Parking spots were a little bit of a challenge to get but many different areas available.

Interesting visit for two reasons. One, learning about the monastery history, the monks life, their daily schedule and chores. But two because this place is the inspiration for Louise Penny St-Gilbert-entre-les-Loups in her Gamache book “The beautiful mystery”!!!

Must visit places in the eastern township area. Amazing architecture and peace in the building, surrounded by greenery.

Beautiful, peaceful respite from the quotidian. Nice shop for brother-made cheeses, cider and other Quebecoise products.

Amazing place! Wonderful picturesque landscapes. Interesting story. Extraordinary architecture. But I really liked the store with a large selection of cheeses, jams, sauces produced in the abbey. And very tasty apples! We returned home with a big bag of different delicious things.

This is a wonderful place. Both the self guided and the guided tours are great. The Abbey is gorgeous, and has fantastic cheese. Attending a service here is an experience.....the monks chanting is lovely. We have been twice now, and have loved the peace and tranquility that the Abbey exudes.
