Unforgettable Lakeside Retreat We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Abbaye de Talloires! From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the serene setting right on the lake. Our room was spotless and beautifully maintained, with a stunning view of the water that made every morning special. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable, and thoughtful touches like plush bathrobes made it feel extra luxurious. The hotel grounds are gorgeous, with ample outdoor seating both on the docks and in the front garden—perfect for soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. One of our favorite features was the unique cave-like bar—such a cool and unexpected surprise! While there weren’t a lot of shops within walking distance, there were some nice restaurants nearby, and we didn’t have much time to explore anyway. Overall, this is a place that invites relaxation and makes you feel truly cared for. Highly recommended!

Views are spectacular, private pontoon is gorgeous, outside bar area is lovely. The abbey is very cool and historic with lots of atmosphere. Rooms are small and some are very dark. Breakfast was fine. Some staff were really lovely such as Camille, others were not accommodating. We were messed around quite a bit with appointments and compensation was poor.

This was such a beautiful place. You have a gorgeous lake right in front of the hotel with mountains surrounding it. Behind the hotel are mountains with people paragliding around it. The hotel itself has an old charm to it along with wonderful food served by extremely knowledgeable staff. I am vegan and my boyfriend is vegetarian and we were taken care of and served phenomenal dinners each night. We appreciated how much thought was put into the food. We would love to come back!

Wonderful reception staff. Location is lovely with the water front facilites (although they don’t have enough chairs for everyone in the hotel so you must arrive early. We were blocked out our first day there for not knowing this). Art is questionable but historic pieces are lovely. Bikes for rent are nice. Ac is nice. Big bathrooms. Outdoor terrace is nice but feels understaffed. It doesn’t feel 4 stars. No one tours you or tells you the history. The wine cellar wasn’t open. The valet wasn’t usually there. You have to go order at the bar most of the time. We stayed at a 3 star hotel nearby that had more amenities and more proactive and friendly service. That said, I appreciated the housekeeping staff and the reception ladies - lovely service and so kind! They probably just need more help. Also we booked the fancy dinner and were very disappointed. Not only were we seated far from the view, our server never smiled and the food was sub par. Sommelier was great . Overall it feels overpriced compared to other options but the historic nature is remarkable.

We loved this hotel. It is stunning. We stayed in th Cezanne Room, which was huge and very comfortable. We had aperitif at the bar every night and ate there when the main dining room was closed. We were very happy. The service at the breakfast was the best!||

This was a wonderful experience, the hotel is set in a beautiful ancient Abbey right on the side of the lake at Talloires. Staff are absolutely charming. The bedroom we had overlooked the lake and was superb and very spacious, we did get an upgrade and it was worth it. Only downside was breakfast was enormous choice but not particularly appealing to us - would prefer more homemade and organic eggs etc. Also spa on top floor - seems a bit unnecessary- would rather recommend a swim in the beautiful lake and a good book.

“A truly wonderful location with excellent parking, outstanding cuisine, attentive service, and charming, well-appointed rooms. The pristine lake is perfect for a refreshing swim. As a world traveler who has explored 82 countries and authored numerous travel articles, I can confidently say this place ranks among my top five destinations. I’ll definitely be back!”

spent 3 nights with my girlfriend, all was really great.||Little note thought for people staying more than 2 nights ... a possibility to change the menu as it not "great" to eat 3 times in the row nearly the. same thing (even if the meal is really good).

Yelp
We had an amazing Michelin star meal at the hotel's Gastronomique. We selected the 109 euro menu and it was 11 courses. When the waiter kept bringing new silverware we thought he was kidding. My husband snd I travel a good bit and I'm confident to say this was one of the best meals we've ever had. Highly recommend drinks in the garden first.
