Flew out of Abbotsford Airport with Flair Airlines, and our flight was delayed by 4 hours — thankfully we were notified in advance via email. The airport itself is quite basic, with very limited facilities. There’s no real waiting area before security if you’ve already checked in online — barely any seats and nothing much to eat except for one small restaurant.
Post-security, there’s a small cafeteria with a shop and a mini bar, and the seating area near the gate is actually quite nice. The airport gets crowded only around flight times. What stood out (in a bad way) was the jet engine noise — since there’s no pushback, planes turn right outside the terminal, and the engine blast is extremely loud and can be uncomfortable, especially when the boarding doors are open.
No gardens, lounges, or hotels nearby — the airport feels very isolated with no options to rest outside the terminal. I understand it’s a regional airport, but improvements in sound insulation and passenger amenities would go a long way.
