Abdi Homestay

Cute bungalows in a pretty scenic location near the waterfall with a pond, full of pink lotus flowers and a rice fields valley view. Quiet, except the morning prayer, inevitable for Indonesia, and geckos. Clean and comfortable bed. Friendly and helpful owner, great breakfast was included in the price. Some issues with plumbing were compensated with a nice discount. Greatly recommended 👌

Abdi Homestay is a simple comfortable complex of cabins and covered patio with ponds and adjacent to a beautiful rockface and rice fields. The family, led by Noni are wonderful and Noni gives a very good cooking class. While Abdi’s is very good value for the independent traveller, it is classified as a 3* accommodation, which it is not. There was no sink, no hot water, no screens, fans or mosquito nets. The fan provided to us upon request really did not work. As a result, the actual accommodations did not meet our expectations.

This place is amazing! The surroundings are so beautiful and so green. It is sooo special, how you're literally sleeping at the foot of the waterfall amongst rice fields. Also the people are amazing, so kind and funny and helpful. We did a hike tour and motortour, both were really good with stunning sceneries:) The rented scooter was fair priced and worked well. The food at abdi's was also amazing - delicious chicken and also the only place in the valley were we got a full plate of vegetables!! All in all, highly recommend to visit harrau Valley and stay at Abdi's. The cottages are basic but comfortable and clean (we loved the bed and pillows). Stayed here for 8 days and would definitely come back! :)

The surroundings are truly beautiful, with stunning views that promise peace… Although the nearby waterfalls were dry when we visited. We also booked an activity, a walk through the valley, which felt quite overpriced for what it was. While walking we noticed many new lodges being built that look fantastic, while this place feels like it’s being left behind. The room itself was fine, but I got plenty of bites, after 20 days in Sumatra without a single one, it made me wonder if they could be bedbugs. The bathroom was quite sad: you had to fill a bucket of water to flush. Food felt like school cafeteria style and breakfast was very basic. Cats were walking around (and even on) the tables, and nobody seemed to mind (I'm a cat lover, but I prefer hygiene). The staff looked totally unmotivated, sleeping or eating at reception/restaurant, and when you asked something, it almost seemed to bother them. Such a pity, because the setting itself is truly wonderful!

A very beautiful homestay with the best staff possible. Everybody is really friendly and helpfull. The food is great as well. They help you with booking a tour or getting around by yourself.

The location is great, but we didn't really experience the hospitality mentioned in older reviews. We had to ask for basic stuff (towels, toilet paper) and the food was bland. We asked about tours and activities, but didn't get much info or enthusiasm, so we decided to just walk by ourselves. The homestay is in a quiet environment with great views. The cottages are basic (no hot water) but good enough.

Nice bungalows with private bathrooms in a nice garden a bit away from the main road. Each bungalow has it's own private terrace. Shower has only cold water, so that will definetely wake you up in the morning... A simple breakfast is included, and they offer to cook dinner on request. Staff was friendly.

The location is beautiful, the food is tasty, BUT the service is poor! When we arrived we were given a key and that was it. No info about breakfast, no mention that there's WiFi, no info about the area... We had to ask for everything which got exhausting 😞 It seems that Abdi is riding on the fame of the past and has stopped putting the effort in! Nonetheless, we still had a good time exploring (we have our own scooters).
