It's a little gem to stay for a vacation visiting Snowdonia. The host, Nigel and Margaret are super nice and helpful. The cottage is very clean and well equipped with all the utensils you need for a vacation. You can cook as at home and BBQ was a nice experience for us. Only around 15-20 minutes walk to the town of Bala, you can grab the daily necessity and simply pick a cafe for tasty meal. Highly recommended.

Stayed here for a short break, a 20 minute walk into Bala village. Located by Bala lake which is a pretty walk day or night. Accommodation was a lovely little cottage, only down point was our bedroom was facing the road so if you're a light sleeper it's not for you, not as busy as London but I woke up a few times. Had everything needed, I sure enjoyed their whirlpool bath.

Had an amazing short holiday break at the cottages, staying in Tythe Barn 2 as a family of four with our dog. The cottage had everything needed to a very good standard, comfortable, clean and welcoming. The kitchen is well equipped. Beautiful surrounds and lovely views across the lake. Margaret and Nigel made us feel very welcome throughout our stay, giving us lots of suggestions on what to do and information on the local area. Highly recommended and we hope to be back soon. Thank you.

My husband and I are from the US and we took a 2 week road trip around England and Wales. We were so fortunate to stumble upon this B&B when doing research for our trip. Maggie and Nigel are wonderful people and made us feel at home as soon as we entered their house. My husband and Nigel are both interested in birds so they hit it off right away. Our room was very comfortable and the bathroom was huge!! Their breakfast was amazing and they made sure you had plenty to eat. We loved hearing about the history of the house and the furnishings were beautiful. The location was perfect for us to drive to the many places we wanted to visit. If we ever make another visit to Wales we will definitely stay here.

If you are looking for a friendly, warming and welcoming home this is for you. The owners are absolutely delightful and do everything possible to make you feel welcome. The home cooked breakfast is exceptional with a nice selection. Waking up everyday to the smell of fresh bread was lovely. ||The local knowledge given by Ray was excellent and really added to our holiday, along with the kayaking skills we learned!||Not only that the gardens and setting is beautiful. The rooms are kept very clean and tidy with daily checks, they are spacious and are furnished well. All the little extras they add are welcome, including things like toiletries that are environmentally friendly. Overall we were delighted with our choice of accommodation and think that the value added service goes a long way. Very pleasant stay - the only problem is that we are not still there!!!

We stayed in the house a couple of years ago but this time tried one of the self catering cottages. We rented Tythe Barn 1 a superbly appointed 2 bedroom cottage for 3 people. Two bathrooms/toilets, a single and a double bedroom, lounge and fantastic kitchen. Ample parking space and everything you needed even complimentary milk and biscuits. The weather was not too good so we needed the heating and once on we were very comfortable. Highly recommended as a base for travelling around beautiful Snowdonia. Only a 15 minute easy walk into Bala itself. We will certainly do that again.

We had another fantastic stay at Abercelyn over the early May Bank Holiday weekend. This time Maggie and Nigel even organised scorching sunny weather for us! This is a wonderful place to stay - quiet, serene and a beautiful house and grounds. The owners could not be more friendly and willing to make sure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. This time we brought my 86 year old mother to stay and Maggie and Nigel really made sure she had a memorable time. We will definitely be back again and would strongly recommend Abercelyn to anyone looking for a high quality stay.

Perfectly located for mountain bikers to visit several of the best Welsh bike parks placing them in easy reach, it is also right by a big lake you can swim in on a summers afternoon after a long day of dusty riding. With good food to be had in Bala just down the road these are beautiful comfortable cottages at a great price and Nigel is a simply terrific host.
