Old fashioned hotel in the centre of Aberdeen. Nice bar and lobby area very laid back atmosphere 4 floors with lift and keycard on room doors. My room had an old fashioned radiator in it and it never came on The furniture is all dark wood with a table and chair and a wardrobe and a bed with headboard and side table with a bedside lamp There was a low wattage bulb in the lamp so impossible to read in bed. There was a landline phone on the desk and a Gideon bible in the bedside drawer Bathroom was unheated .Shower toilet and handbasin. Shower was small and there was no shelf for my razor and shave gel. There is shampoo and body wash supplied. Room was very clean. The bed was big but hard and the pillows gave me no support. There's a small TV but the colours on it were not great. Possibly the screen is going. Free WiFi no buffering. The decor is outdated rather than retro. Floor space in the room insufficient to put a suitcase on without it getting in the way

Located in the centre of the city. My room was on the 4th floor. Small 24inch TV with signs that the screen was on its way out Colours were faded. Radiators in the room painted gold and looked like they had been there 50 years. The net curtains were old and had holes in them. No thermostat in the room. Heating was off all night. Bathroom no radiator No where to hang a damp towel. Shower cubicle was small and the shower head was loose on the mounting so it slid down Shower mixer was cheap but the water was hot I had no where in the shower to put my razor and shave gel. There is hand soap body wash and shampoo dispensers In the room there's not much floor space for a suitcase and there's a landline phone on the desk. And all the furniture is dark wood including the bed headboard. The Bedding was clean with feather pillows bad for my allergies and the mattress was very unforgiving. I went to Malone's bar to get a hot chocolate drink at 9:30 and they were already closing up and were unable to offer me hot milk. Check in and out was good and the downstairs area is quite elegant in an old school way. Breakfast is £15 but I didn't have time to get anything.|Hotel is associated with Anatheum Hotel

I had booked a pet friendly room via booking.com. On arrival I was told they only accepted dogs in their apartments. Space wise that was a bonus. The information on the web also said that dog bowls were available. They were not, so my dog had his food and water from the china bowls provided in the apartment. There is only one area rug in the apartment and my dog is a bit funny with hard floors so I had to carry him throughout the apartment though tbh he was happy snoozing on the couch. ||The restaurant is not dog friendly so I had to leave him in the apartment while I went for something to eat—which is against the hotel’s “pet policy” which I had to sign on check in. They also have the cheek to charge £25 for having a dog in the room. Enjoy the china plates Benji! ||The double bedroom only has a light on one side. Ok for me but if you are a couple and you both want to read, good luck.

We stayed 2 nights in the Douglas Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. ||As with all old hotels it is easy to find faults and, whilst some areas are in need of upgrading, our room on the fourth floor was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was modern and the walk in shower was wonderful.||The staff throughout the hotel were super friendly and always had a smile on their face. The buffet breakfast provided a good range of both hot and cold dishes. It was nice to see the chef taking great care to ensure that the trays were kept topped up and the serving area was kept clean and tidy.||The hotel is only a 5 minute walk to both the train and bus stations and a couple of minutes from Union Street.||All in all a very enjoyable stay and we would have no hesitation in recommending the Douglas Hotel to potential guests.

Also called Royal Athaneum Suites built in 1812 as a reading room and designed by architect Archibald Simpson who also has a wetherspoon's pub named after him in Aberdeen. Very unassuming from the outside in the centre of town |Entrance is by key card (once you check in) Also room is key carded and power control by key card.|Apartment is huge with big comfy bed and room is well lit and heated by air-conditioning. I got help to work it. Also bathroom has underfloor heating and there is an electric heater as well. Room has 2 flat screen TVs one in the lounge and one on the bedroom wall.Lounge Remote was missing. (Probably stolen)|WiFi is good and is pw protected.|Room has a kitchen with microwave and toaster and under counter fridge and Ice box Also kettle with tea and milk etc|Also iron in the wardrobe While place was spotless. Outside windows were dirty. One full length mirror had a chip in the frame. (Guests) |Bathroom was huge and well lit and a massive shower with two heads water was steaming hot. Big enough for two people |The electric heated towel rail didn't appear to work I was on the 2nd floor and I heard no street noise.|There was no noise at all from outside my door. Access by lift |Hotel has a restaurant and next door a Brewdog pub and on the other side a coffee shop and across the road a steak house |Perfect for my needs|Thank you

The hotel is in the heart of the city. Great breakfast options. The furniture is old and heavily used. When checked in we found some trash in the bathroom that didn't get removed, and it remained there for the entire stay, though they did remade the bed.

Nice hotel with very friendly staff. Good breakfast with again diligent attentive staff . Only minor issue was the bed was a little lumpy ( room 212) and the loo was tight to the wall making seating a bit difficult (especially if very overweight) . Other than that, we had a very pleasant experience.

Yelp
This hotel is terrible! Twenty parking spaces for a four story hotel is ridiculous. There's no signage telling you how to access the gated parking lot, nor where to park if that lot is full....even the person at front desk can't give accurate directions on where to park if lot is full. Front desk staff don't care about guest frustrations nor requests. The front desk staff's negative attitude toward guest's questions was a real turn off. We stayed in a room with twin beds and the springs in one of the beds were clearly worn out and broken making it impossible to sleep. The included breakfast was good and had a nice selection; this is the only positive thing I can say about the hotel. Molly's restaurant, which is attached to the hotel, is mediocre at best. If you're looking for a good, customer-friendly hotel, don't stay here!

Yelp
This hotel is 'interesting" because I feel like we had an experience most people do not here. We were not in the hotel. We were given an apartment like suite with a kitchen and living room across the ally. It was private and there was a washing machine. When you travel, a washing machine is a big win, but there was no hot water in the bathtub (shower had plenty!). So, because we were apart from the hotel in a separate complex, it was not as easy as just phoning down to the desk for a fix on the hot water. It was easy to get to everything from food to entertainment. I only gave it four stars because I can't really say I am a fan, but the apartment was extremely clean and nice. It just felt like you were staying in someone's home. Give it a try for yourself...I would recommend the hotel for the great breakfast and good staff....and the apartment was very good. It would be nice if the parking was on-site and not so expensive.

Yelp
I didn't even know about the existence of the Douglas Hotel until I attended a conference held there the other day, and I thought I knew a fair bit about Aberdeen's hostelry. It was a delight to find this olde-world hotel set into yet another of Aberdeen's granite streets, this one between a casino and the entrance to the harbour. So, the setting may be less than family-friendly, but the building is like a traditional railway hotel. Dark wood and odd angles abound. The staff were friendly, and everything was clean and functional, if a bit tired looking. There is a reasonably sized ballroom complete with wooden dance floor - and conference facilities. One disorienting thing, a tiny niggle, is the weirdly striped seventies carpet on the lower level, which make the frequent 2 to 3 step level changes tricky. Remember, I did not stay in any of the rooms, so I cannot comment on that side of things. Overall, the hotel is very conveniently located for the city centre, the railway station and the harbour. It's not glass-and-chrome modern, but seems adequate, within the limits of my experience, and has useful things like wi-fi (password from the hotel).

Yelp
This hotel is centrally located being close to the main street and major malls and has most of the amenities of a North American hotel trying very hard to be a higher rated hotel. We stayed at one of the suites and there was a good-sized tub that allowed me to comfortably soak with room for one more. The furniture is nice and comfortable. They were going through a bit of construction at the lobby but they were trying their best to accommodate the guests during this time. The receptionists are very helpful but the rest of the staff are accommodating but they seemed really meek and quiet. They had a really good hot and cold buffet breakfast with sausages and even black pudding. They also bring toast over in those nifty toast holders. The breakfast was good especially to cure a wicked hangover. They offered a spa but unfortunately it is not really as relaxing as what is shown on the website and it really is just two closet sized room that is manned by one individual. I did have a Balinese type massage that was relaxing but again the environment was not exactly what I thought I would expect in a spa. I would stay here again if I needed to stay at a consistently good hotel but not for anything else.

Yelp
This is a large family run hotel right in the centre of town. Good facilities for functions and nice restaurant. I always advise people to stay here. They also run lovely serviced apartments on the quayside.
