I'm convinced the word gale (as in storm, wind and rain) came from the term Gaelic (as in place and culture). Because that what was happening in Aberdeen yesterday. The weather there tends to be a bit wet anyway and on this day, it was raining and windy all day.
The Aberdeen airport is in the village of Dyce. It's a one-stop train ride from Aberdeen or a 20GBP taxi ride. The airport is small and efficient and I've had the sort of pleasure of passing through many times. Based on past and recent events, the following:
To Border Control who used to be pleasant but who more and more have gotten seriously protectionist (and I don't mean security, I mean: "Are you here to steal our jobs?"), I say: You have become bureaucratic power mongers and I no longer like you in general and in some cases specifically.
To the airport staff who yesterday cleared the entire airport so courteously and efficiently and who kept everyone informed via loudspeaker over the roar of the gale, I say: Thank you, well done, good show!
To the young gentleman who while outside asked one of the staff if there was a plan for getting people back into the building, allowing for babies, children and elderly first, I say: Wow, that was massively impressive, thank you for an important lesson.
To the person who was smoking inside the airport and who set off the fire alarm causing about 200 people including elderly, children, infants and people generally under dressed to stand outside for almost an hour while the building was inspected and who caused multiple flights to be missed or delayed, I say: You're an ass hat, fuck you.
