"Traditional Sampans and Junks A visit to Hong Kong isn’t complete without a ride on a sampan. Head to the Aberdeen Promenade along the southwestern shoreline of Hong Kong Island and hop aboard a sampan, one of the small local boats operated mostly by elderly Tanka and Hoklo women who hail from the traditional boat-dwelling seafaring community. For the equivalent of about $10 per person, get a 30-minute ride around Aberdeen Harbour, under Ap Lei Chau Bridge, and past the other junks, houseboats, trawlers, fancy yachts, and even giant cargo vessels and cruise ships. For a voyage witha bit more emphasis on sightseeing, try one of the two popular red-sailed junks—the historic 36-passenger Duk Ling and the replica 80-passenger Aqua Luna— that can beboarded either from the Tsim Sha Tsui Piers or Central Pier 9."
There was a pier for the sightseeing small boat called sampan which could accommodate about 10 persons. Tours operators provided tourist guide services during the boat trip. Sanitized ear phones were given to the visitors to listen the canned introduction. There was a boat in the middle of the typhoon shelter which was decorated alike historical fisherman's floating home. This boat served snacks and drinks and even traditional fisherman's noodles.

Enjoy a peaceful sampan ride which allows you to have a glimpse of the fisherman life. You can also have a close view of the Jumbo seafood restaurant.

Enjoyed our side around the harbour. There isn't a lot to do in the area so it was a nice way to spend what was a super hot day

I didn’t enjoy it very much. The boat they use to tour tourists was not very appealing. I will leave it to you to judge when you see it. At $60 per head, it’s pricey when it’s just about a 20min ride and all you see are rows of yachts, boats parked next to each other. Not worth it.

A good place for photos and if you have time to kill. A unique experience if you are first timer in HK.
