Great lunch and dinner options. The cheese sauce for the horseshoes and nachos was very good. Unfortunately their fries are not gluten free, but my nachos were a good substitute for a horseshoe. Great service and clean location. The prices were very reasonable. Would come back again!

Place has a very large menu with the standard American flavors of burgers and home style dishes. Food overall was ok but priced on the high side for what we got. It's not bad. Just iceberg lettice for a 14 dollar salad is a bit of a high way, robbery. Place was busy and happening, so its differently a favorite with the locals. Staff was friendly and engaging, so it was a nice experience.

I'm not sure how this meal could have been worse. We were told it was a 30 minute wait, we were seated in 3 minutes. Good thing because no one came to wait for another 20 min. We ordered everything at one time since we had plenty of time to read the menu. Appetizer came in 15 minutes...no drinks or silverware yet....then we were told no ribeyes..come on, it only 630...1 hour later our food came, forgot the salads. 3 out of 4 meals were wrong. Medium well steak was still bleeding throughout. Even the bill was wrong. I know it's Saturday night, but come on, it's not your first. Won't be back.

This was our second visit to Springfield. And we made a wise choice by eating at Abe’s Hideout. First off, my kids are picky eaters and the wait staff was very friendly helping them choose the right meal. My daughter had the cheese pizza and said “I loved this pizza.” My son ordered the buttered noodles with marinara. It was so good, I snuck a few bites. The marinara sauce combined with the buttered noodles was incredible. They melt the butter and it sits at the bottom of the bowl and the noodles marinate in the butter. You dip that in the marinara and it’s delicious! I ordered grilled teriyaki chicken with tater tots and fries. The chicken was cooked just right and the teriyaki glaze made it even better. Everybody was still hungry afterwards so we ordered a warm brownie topped with vanilla ice cream. My family made that disappear quickly. The staff is awesome. There’s some cool decor on the walls. The place was clean. There is over 20 parking spots in a free lot next to the restaurant. We will definitely return the next time we visit Springfield.

Overall great experience. Food is fairly priced and came out quite quick. Would highly recommend a horseshoe or ponyshoe with a pork tenderloin.

My server, Tammy, was great! She really tried hard for me. I told her I was a bariatric patient and could not eat those huge meals and asked to order from the kids menu. Tammy said yes. Great! I ordered a grilled cheese and cup of chili (they were out of chili, so I got potato soup). Tammy came back to the table to tell me she couldn’t let me do the kids menu, she would have to charge me for the lunch version of my order. Hmmm, ok. She said it was because the owners daughter was there, and she wouldn’t let her do it. What if I had a food allergy or was asking about diabetic options or had another dietary restriction? Would they ignore that? I’ve worked hard to lose 100 lbs. I try hard to stick to my diet or make choices that are smaller versions of what I used to eat. Most restaurants are really good about honoring my request — this is the first time I was told no. I guess we won’t be back. Sorry, Tammy! You were great, but your owner sucks.

Everyone was extremely nice, good was great and decent portions. Will come back if im in springfield again.

This restaurant makes a lot of sauces and cheese from scratch, cuts their own pork tenderloin for the horseshoe. I never had a horseshoe, so I had to try it. Personally I think the cheese sauce was too salty and the horseshoe is huge. I didn't eat half the bread and was still full when I left. I ordered the banana cream pie to go. To my surprise, they didn't make it there. It was a prepackaged slice and the whipped cream on top had dried out. I was somewhat disappointed in that, but it was ok. I do plan on visiting again, hopefully it was just an off night for me

Food Service Ambiance Just happened to be riding by and decided to check it out. I'm a Horseshoe fanatic, so I had to try theirs. I went with the pork tenderloin "pony"shoe, and it was more than enough. My only issue was that I prefer white cheese sauce, and they serve the beer cheese sauce. Big difference if you're a horseshoe fan. Nice place though, and I'd go there to try other food options.

We were really disappointed with our visit to this location. While our waitress was friendly, the atmosphere was average and the food was a major letdown. * The Caesar salad was overly dressed and tasted extremely sour. * The ribeye steak ($30) was undercooked, overly seasoned, and mostly fat. * When we mentioned the issue with the steak (still on the plate missing one awful bite now in a napkin), there was no effort to make it right. no discount, nothing. Just an apology and our waitress telling us "I'll tell the kitchen". That's it. Full bill. In the end, we paid over $100 for a meal we didn't enjoy. We won't be coming back to this location. If you want a better experience, the Mechanicsburg location is the only one worth visiting.

I'm a bariatric patient who can no longer eat full size meals. I don't want to waste food. I asked if I could order from the kids menu because of this, and I was told no by the server but only because the owners daughter was present. My server was completely accommodating. I also ordered chili, but they were out. I wound up with potato soup and a grilled cheese, and I still couldn't eat it all. My husband ordered a full adult meal, and we would have ordered To go food for my daughter, but quickly decided not to. We will not return. We should have went to Obed and Isaac's.

It's a very nice place to eat. The service was great & they food prices are reasonable. They have a lot to choose from and that's a nice variety.

Great food spot if visiting Springfield - I didn't try the famous Springfield horseshoe but it looked super unhealthy and yummy ! I'm a burger - meat - guy and this place didn't disappoint. If in the area be Horst to yourself and go to Honest Abe's " hideout"!

Fun space with lots of historical photos to get you in the "Lincoln Vibe." Is was in the mood for a burger and this place came through. Solid burger with fresh tasting bun. We also enjoyed the potato salad. Wife had the BLT and the bacon was thick and Texas toast was perfect.

The server was excellent. She was cheerful and knowledgeable. Recommended specials. I rated it low because I got the cheese fry appetizer and it was not great. A bare sprinkling of cheese. What cheese there was was crispy. The bacon was overdone. The ranch was nice. My husband got a pulled pork sandwich and it was good. And Mac and cheese bites which he loved. Cheese fry definitely needed more care. The server did offer us to go drinks which we took her up on. Honestly this wouldn't be my first choice to come back to.

Another fine meal. Great service and big portions. Prices are good too. Lots to choose from.

We were passing through Springfield on our way back to NC and figured we'd check out some local spots for dinner. Abe's had some good reviews so we figured we'd try it out. So glad we did! Service was great, restaurant is bright and welcoming. My husband had their Sunday special, the pot roast, and he said it was some of the best he's ever had! Will definitely stop by again if we pass through Springfield :)

We had a group of around 10 in our party and the staff handled our order well. I loved the local historical artwork that was hung! The food was very good as well! Will be back!

Bbq pizza was fantastic! We got extra sauce to drizzle over it and it was so good! The 16inch pizza was enough to fill both of us up plus have leftovers. Beers were cold. Wait staff was friendly.

Got a steak and two sides. Everything was fantastic. The waitress was super. Super nice as was everybody who worked there. This was located near my work and the hotel I was staying at. Everyone really enjoyed their food and drinks.

Stopped at this place on the recommendation of the hotel staff. Great decision. My wife ordered the "pony"size horseshoe sandwich with buffalo chicken. It is an open face sandwich with buffalo chicken covered with fries and smothered with cheddar cheese sauce. Heart attack on a plate. I ordered a fried half-a-chicken with potato salad and home style green beans, on the menu as fried chicken dinner. When our food came, my wife remarked that she was glad she only ordered the "pony" size and not the full sized. The sandwich was massive. She wasn't able to finish it. It was very flavorful and much more than she could eat. As for my meal, the attached was taken the first time I came up for air. There is no after picture because it wasn't pretty. Very tender and well seasoned pieces of chicken. The green beans and potato salad were also very good. It made me think I was at home in Louisiana but was reminded I wasn't when I noticed the outside temp of 40 degrees. The person(s) that helped with our orders were very friendly with an overall positive attitude about everything. Very easy to be comfortable in those place and enjoy some great food. We must've timed it just right as there was no wait to be seated when we arrived, and the line was out the door and down the hall when we left. There is no doubt why this was, as it was.

We were traveling through town with truck and 30 foot trailer. Called the restaurant and hostess told us a place to park across the street. Our waitress was Zabrina who does a great job. Food is really good, atmosphere is nice and clean. If you can stop by to eat, highly recommend it!!

It's ok. Food is underwhelming. They could at least add a slice of tomato to the side salad, a dash of Tabasco to the zing zing Bloody Mary mix, or a pinch of cheese to the canned chili.

The food was excellent. We had the pot roast special and it was very tasty. Our waitress Michele took care of all thirteen people in our party with a smile and was very efficient. We've always had great meals and great service here.

The one in Springfield? No I do not recommend but somebody likes it lol. Only went once about 3 years ago since I moved back to the poor side of town off Dirksen and looking for good restaurants but alas not really any except red lobster. It went for Friday night fish walleye...so salty and with a Skelton fish not much meat. I'm sure they might have other stuff there that might be good but idk; I was warned before I went that the one in Springfield was not the same as the one in Mechanisburg which is where I was told to go.

Solid diner type of place. I'm sure Abe would've liked it! Our server was super nice and efficient. The iced tea was nice - not too strong, not too weak with refill offers including 'Can I get you a to go cup?' NICE! For my lunch, I went with the hand pounded/ breaded, fried pork tenderloin on my choice of bread, Texas toast. It also can be done grilled. Sandwiches in general come with fries but for a little upcharge, you can substitute a few other things. I subbed for their permanent on menu cream of tomato soup. The server said soups are homemade and the soup of the day was beer cheese. That tomato soup was REALLY FANTASTIC - likely the best cream of tomato I've had anywhere! The sandwich was huge, and very good as well. I would definitely get that again. The menu mentions a pork tenderloin sauce on request which I skipped but would def try next time. Dipping the sandwich in the soup was delish! Hubs got the chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce which was just 'meh' - a decent but forgettable frozen breaded patty. He also got the fries that have a light coating on them making them really crispy - again these were just ok, nothing to get too excited about imo.

This place was a great find- had the salad with steak on it- blue cheese dressing! Yummy- would definitely go back!

The food is better than a few years ago. We wish the owners would do something about the open floor plan. It's too loud and it feels more like a cafeteria style restaurant. I would recommend the Mechanics burg location. More intimate. Pork Tenderloin Sandwich and cheese sauce is awesome.

The horseshoe comes w one meat. Some others serve w two meat as should have gotten a pony instead w all the extra fries. My wife liked their tomato soup I would come back but she wouldn't as she missed the perfect cheese for her pony shoe

Nice place. Was in town for 3 weeks working so I ate here multiple times. Pizza is good. Friendly staff. Really good service. Place was super clean. Huge menu. Everything I had was good. Would go back for sure. Don't be thrown off by the fact that its in a strip mall. Go in and eat.

The horseshoes are the bomb! Service is perfect. We've been served there by management after a funeral, and they were so respectful. It's a great place for couples, families. And more!

If you're looking to get a good horseshoe or burger this is the place to go. The waitress was also very kind and attentive. If you're new to Springfield and looking for a good place, give it a try!

Soooo good! I finally tried a "horseshoe" that everyone was raving about and it was delicious! They also offer a "ponyshoe" if you want a smaller order. I got it with the shaved beef ("philly beef"). Yum! The rest of the family seemed to enjoy their dinners as well. I will go back if we are in the area again!

I just visited here for the first time. They offer a great variety of foods; everyone in my group ordered something different and was happy with their selections. Service was friendly and prompt. I look forward to going again!

My girlfriend and I rolled into to town to visit some friends. They suggested Abe's Hideout. If a horseshoe is on the menu then there's an 80% I'll order it. When I'm in Springfield that number jumps to 90%. It is the home of horseshoes after all. Abe's has horseshoes so that's what I ordered. I was optimistically caution going in to my first bite of my horseshoe. Our friend said he liked it more D'Arcy's Pint. I consider it the gold standard of horseshoes. I ordered the classic hamburger horseshoe. It is an above average horseshoe. The cheese is what makes or breaks the horseshoe. The cheese did not taste like it came out of a can. Huge plus! Their Mac‐cheese Bites were fire! If I gave ratings based on one menu item then they'd get the 5er. This is random but I felt I had to mention it. The restroom is not far enough away from the seating area. If someone goes in the restroom and blows it up then you might just hear it. Maybe not. I just know I'll try not to be seated right near there.

We both got the 12oz Prime Rib special cooked medium. The steaks were cooked perfectly bot the skin on the outer edge was tough and it was not very hot. The baked Potatoes were cold on top but hot at the bottom. The salad was very good. Overall the main entree could have been hotter. The service was quick and friendly. Thank you

This isn't our typical type of venue so we weren't quite sure what to expect. I'm glad we took a chance! I've heard their salads are wonderful and although we didn't get salads - it did not disappoint! It's very casual and relaxed, but trendy and very clean. Service was prompt and friendly. Good tea: some places just can't make good iced tea and this was a nice surprise! The grilled chicken sandwich and fries with cheese sauce was excellent. It was also a nice surprise that the cheese sauce wasn't unreasonably uncharged. I also had changes to the sandwich and it came out exactly as ordered. Reasonably quick and hot! Very good and filling. The Buffalo chicken wrap is also recommended! Considering inflation, this was very reasonably priced and for 2 meals it was under $30. Would definitely return.

It's quasi everything. Burgers are good fries are good. Mac and cheese bites are a joke. I never heard of a horseshoe before so I tried one. I don't get it.

Great and timely service. My second time ever trying a horseshoe, previously Darcy's Pint. I didn't like the one from Darcy's Pint at all. Came to Abe's and gave the horseshoe another chance. Got a burger one. It was really good. Finished it all. Burger was very well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Would come back again.

The waitress was very nice and talkative/personable. Since we aren't from the area we certainly didn't mind. The food was good as well. We tried the cheese curds which tasted close to the real things. The breading was different. I had the taco salad and that was very good. The tortilla shell bowl is actually quite yummy. My dad had the steak and said it was tender and grilled to the right temperature. Worth checking out if you're in the area.

Tried this place again. Very clean and comfortable feeling. Food is just plain not good. Had the hamburger horseshoe and house steak. Both barely edible. Nice salad served with the steak.

Nice environment but the food was like a pre-produced school cafeteria. The nachos were eh. Wings are good. Fried mushrooms and fried mac and cheese bites were processed - eh. Prime rib is pretty good. Buffalo chicken strip horseshoe is better than the steak burger horseshoe. Monterrey chicken was average. Advice would be to reduce the number of items on the menu and focus on something good.

Good place to eat. Macaroni bites were good and enjoyed the chicken bacon wrap. Great atmosphere and decent service.

Decent meal. Great they let you order dinner menu for lunch (no baked potatoes only exception). Fast service. I don't think Abe hid in a strip mall but suppose it could of been a salon back in his day. Other than that clean and friendly. Decent bar with better than standard bar food. Fried chicken was terrific.

What a pleasant surprise! Accidentally stumbled upon this great place. The waitress was really on top of her game. Had the all you can eat walleye ($12) and she told me she was bringing more without even asking. The food was great and under priced. The walleye had q really unique and delicious corn meal breading. The real star was the homemade tomato basil soup. Wow. Delicious. Would def return

The food here is amazing! I have been here twice and have loved it. I usually go on Saturday nights as that is when they have their prime rib available and both times the prime rib has been excellent. My favorite are their french fries which is an option for their sides. It was very crispy and its oh so delicious. The service was also very good (alright on the second trip) but overall the entire experience was great. The restaurant has a nice feel to it but it is a bit chilly. Overall the place is clean, quiet, and overall nice place to dine out at.

I've been told that when you go to Springfield, you have to try the horseshoe. We stopped at Abe's Hideout and I got the steakburger horseshoe. I have to tell you, it didn't disappoint. The seasoned fries were nice and crispy, the burgers cooked perfectly, and the cheese sauce was so good. Next time I'm gonna try the buffalo chicken horseshoe.

Average place. Nice and clean. Friendly staff. Food isn't spectacular. Prices are a little steep for the quality. Everything we ate was too salty. Atmosphere is good.

We had went out as a family for dinner, mid service our waitress had starting acting extremely rude and wouldn't talk to us and then she stopped coming to our table. We didn't even ask for refills or anything extra, and are always very generous and nice to waiters/waitresses. They treated us like freaks and that we did something wrong!? They never asked if we needed anything not even to go containers! And we had half a pizza and some pasta and bread left! So we just ate the pasta and carried the pizza with out a box! We were not sure what happened as to why we were treated so poorly!? The food was not good at all anyway but, we were treated like we weren't human for no reason!? My husband had taken our toddler to the car to wait for 30 minutes, that's how long it took to get the bill AFTER we asked for it because nobody was coming to our table for over 20 minutes, it was INSANE!! We will NEVER go near here again and won't let family and friends go there as it was so discriminatory there!! We paid ALOT of money for the special occasion and it was a total disaster and was humiliating!! We were SO uncomfortable in there, the staff was looking at us like we were crazy people?! We were quite and just having a normal dinner, I don't understand how you could get treated so poorly.

Good food with great service!!!! My son loved the specialty cocktails and I loved their brownie with ice cream dessert. I had chicken which was good. My husband had the fish fry which he enjoyed, the wall eye was tasty and the fries were great!!!! My son had the horseshoe which was pretty good. Our guest had pulled pork sandwhich which she enjoyed.
